How Did George Eastman Change The World

My work is done. Why wait? a simple statement that revolutionized the entire world. George Eastman, who ended his life with those few words written on a grizzled tarnished note left for his friends. Respect For International Humanitarian Law

Respect for International Humanitarian Law

Article 1 of the Geneva Conventions provides that States parties undertake to ensure respect for the present Convention . The same provision is repeated in Additional Protocol I in relation to respect for the provisions of that Protocol . It further provides that in the event of serious violations of the Protocol, States parties undertake to act, jointly or individually, in cooperation with the United Nations and in conformity with the Charter of the United Nations. A similar provision is included in the Second Protocol to the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property.

Beginning with its commentary on common Article 1 of the Geneva Conventions, the ICRC has repeatedly stated that the obligation to ensure respect is not limited to behavior by parties to a conflict, but includes the requirement that States do all in their power to ensure that international humanitarian law is respected universally .

The interpretation that common Article 1 involves obligations beyond those of the parties to the conflict was supported by the UN Security Council in a resolution adopted in 1990 calling on States parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention to ensure respect by Israel for its obligations, in accordance with Article 1 of the Convention . The UN General Assembly has adopted several resolutions to the same effect and in relation to the same conflict . Other international organizations have likewise called on their member

Hearing Aids In Preschool Essay

When I was a child in preschool, I was diagnosed with hearing loss. Everyone knows that a child develops a language and communicate by mimicking their parents and people surrounding them from what they hear and see. If hearing loss isn t treated, the child could later on develop speech problems, academic difficulties, or even social issues. As for myself, many of those things have come to pass. I acquired a hearingproblem early in my preschool days. I am not sure what was the cause of my hearing loss but my mother sought out help and I received Behind the Earhearing aids. In elementary school, I was quite excited that I was able to leave my class and visit the school s nurse to retrieve my hearing aid, where I was supposed to leave them, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I started a new school in the sixth grade, little did I know that my mother allowed the school administrators to make the arrangements for me to be placed in special classes so I can keep up with my peers. At this age, I didn t see being different as a good thing and wanted to be normal like the other kids. However, it was obvious that I wasn t like other kids. The school day would start out with my regular class then when it was time to change class and go to the next period, I would go to a different class then most. Usually, after the home period, the students would be split up into four parts, one would go to gym, another to lunch, another to arts or music and the last to a different subject. For me instead of going to another subject with ¼ of the class, I would end up in a smaller classroom for math with about five other students while a regular classroom would contain about 20 30 students. I was upset because I was doing so well in my math class and I found out the regular math class is doing the exact same work. Every week, my math teacher would give the student prizes for good work, so I would go home with certification for best students, most achievements, great work, high scores. With that realization, I worked even hard to not be placed in separate classroom. I honestly believed

The Battle Of Midway During World War II Essay

The Battle of Midway was fought from June 3rd to June 5th, 1942 between the Japanese and United States during World War II. The end result of this battle was the destruction of four Japanese carriers, two cruisers, three destroyers, and two hundred and ninety two aircraft by U.S. fighters and dive bombers. Conversely, the U.S. only lost a carrier, the USS Yorktown, a destroyer, the USS Hammann, and 145 aircraft. Unlike previous battles which were fought through traditional tactics, the Battle of Midwaywas fought with unconventional tactics that resulted in a turning point for United States Naval power worldwide. Through the development of new tactics, refined intelligence, the weakness of the Japanese plan, and Japanese over confidence the Battle of Midway was a turning point for U.S. sea power. The Battle of Midway was a turning point in the Pacific Warnot only because the U.S. was advanced in their new tactical capabilities, but also because they had crushed a tested and undefeated Japanese Navy that was projected to win. The U.S. set a new standard for themselves by integrating aircraft carriers into its fleet and was able to strike at a moment s notice from a much closer range than the land based aircraft. The effective range of the fleet s strike arm had grown so big that navies could now engage without ever sighting each other, just as they had in the Coral Sea. Every element involved in this battle was able to make it the most impactful naval battle in American

Understanding And Understanding Of Physical, Social And...

Standard 1: Know students and how they learn As every individual is unique, getting to understand the students characteristics, knowledge and cultural background are essential requirements for encouraging their development and learning (Arthur, Beecher, Death, Dockett Farmer, 2012). In order to achieve the above requirements, a strong and positive relationship with students is the effective way for teachers to build up a holistic picture of a student (Groundwater Smith, Ewing Le Cornu, 2015a; Nixon Gould, 2005). The various recorded interactions and observations between teachers and students made during the professional experience, have helped me to understand how students learn and have strengthened my ability to plan and implement lessons (Arthur et al., 2012). 1.1Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of physical, social and intellectual development and characteristics of student There are many factors that influence students participation in learning. Some examples of these factors include the learning atmosphere of the school, teaching strategies and the student s capabilities (Groundwater Smith, et al., 2015b; Nixon Gould, 2005). In order for students to complete different tasks during lessons, it is important that teachers present clear and concise instructions. According to Porter (2014a), by providing clear instructions and high quality examples, teachers may help to increase a student s academic performance. In addition, by removing classroom
