The people of Nicaragua were suffering oppression. This made us develop an awareness which eventually led us to commit ourselves to the struggle against the domination of the capitalists of our country in collusion with the United States government. (Daniel Ortega 1974) As has been discussed throughout the semester thus far many countries throughout Latin America have experienced a political revolution in some way, shape, or form. In the early 1970 s Nicaraguajoined the long list of Latin American countries to experience a revolution when the Frente Sandinista de Liberacion Nacional (FSLN) lead by Daniel Ortega successfully overthrew the Somoza dynasty. Many people often times have a misconception of what exactly a political revolution... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Others argue that the changes seen within a society during the time of revolution are short lived and often times forgotten within a matter of years. Despite these two differing arguments over the exact meaning of the term revolution one thing remains constant. At the heart of any definition of revolution the word change can be found. For example, Samuel Huntington defines revolution as rapid, fundamental, and violent domestic change in the dominant values, myths, political institutions, social structure, leadership, government activity, and politics. (Booth 117) On the other hand, Theda Skocpol defines revolution as rapid, basic transformations of a society s state and class structure, accompanied by and in part accomplished through popular revolts from below. (Booth 117) Finally, Eric Selbin argues that revolution and its social transformation are more likely where popular rebellion has cultural roots and precedents. (Booth 117) The Sandinista Revolution in the early 1970 s provides a perfect example in regards to the transformation of society that each one of these definitions promises. However, in order to determine which definition of the term revolution most accurately describes the Sandinista Revolution in Nicaragua two key questions must be analyzed. First, it must be determined how strong and persistent are the

Condemnation Technique

Condemnation of the condemners is the next technique, which means that the individual who committed the crime is essentially calling their condemner a hypocrite. For instance, a teenager who is arrested for drinking may use this by saying that he knows the police drink so why should he be in trouble. The individual using this technique turns the attention from themselves, to shaming their condemner for their wrongdoings, thus, avoiding feeling guilty themselves (Sykes).

Finally, appeal to higher loyalties, means that there is some other reason that made the actions of committing the crime more important than abiding by the law in that situation. This can occur when, outside of being a member of society, the individual also belongs to another... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

As said before, the youngest brother goes after the deputy using the technique of denial of victim as a rationalization. When both of his brothers go after him, though, to help him out, this is where the technique of appeal to higher loyalties can be seen. His brothers are deeming helping and protecting their brother to be more important than compliance with the law. The same can be said when several men of the town see the brothers heading out for the fight and then follow to also help out. The townsfolk have loyalties to these brothers who they are close with and do business with. All of the individuals involved in this situation avoid the guilt or shame of committing their crimes by believing they have the duty of helping out others who are important to them, whether it be a brother or

Communication Is A Core Social Work Skills

Sam the service user was played by an actor. I conducted a 10 minutes mock interview with him. Two members of academic staff and one real service user were observing the progress of the interview. The assessment was filmed. To be able to reflect critically, I was provided with a copy of the video clip along with the observer s feedback. The remit of the task was to gain a broad understanding of Sam s background. I believe that the role playing exercise along with this reflective account helped me a great deal to understand and develop some of the key skills involved in effective communication and interviewing clients. Communication is a core Social Work skill (Trevithick, 2005 p1). Through verbal and non verbal communication, service users are enabled to explore their difficulties. Consequently, service users may gain a clear understanding on how to cope or resolve their issues more effectively. After the interview, I allocated some time to reflect on the role play activity. Considering the short nature of the interview and my limited experience in assessing service users 1to1, I felt positive about my overall performance. I exhibited some key skills, but also, I noted some shortcomings I need to address before commencing into professional practice. The way a social worker interviews a client can have a profound impact on the quality of the responses given. Looking back at the interview, I feel that I structured the interview well. I feel that I introduced myself, my role

When undertaking market segmentation, BMW does research on the geographic, demographic, behavioral, socioeconomic, as well as beneficial attributes of the society so as to help the company target the market in more effective manner. The demographics of consumers with potential to purchase a BMW product are often men and women aged between 30 50 years. Behaviorally, these demographics of people usually would have formed a successful image in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... BMW 3 series customers have distinct profile: ambitious, hardworking, successful, and satisfy they common needs for dynamical ad sportive driving. Also, they live relatively healthy by engaging in activities for keeping fit. From the social perspective, they fit well into the etiquette of the upper, middle upper and middle class.

Behavioral Segmentation

Behavioral segmentation involves dividing customers into groups basing on their knowledge level, attitude towards the product, their loyalty, the user status and usage rate, or response to a product (Kelly McGowen, 2011). BMW s customers can be said to already behaviorally targeted as the company focuses on customer types who are very loyal and knowledgeable of the company s high quality products. They are regular buyers who know what they want from a new car model: quality, dynamism, speed, passion among others. They are mainly heavy users who enjoy the comfort of BMW s cars, thus exhibit mostly positive and enthusiastic attitude towards BMW s cars.

Positioning statement: BMW s brand and strategy

Positioning refers to the act of developing the company s offering and image to take a distinctive place in the minds of the target market. A company s positioning statement communicates the concept of the product offering in terms of how it meets a consumer need. As such, the purpose of a positioning statement is often to create the desired brand perception before

MONOLINGUAL WORD ALIGNMENT MODEL FOR RETRIEVING

Abstract:

In a global economy, mining the opinion relations between opinion targets and opinion words was the key to collective extraction. To this end, the most adopted techniques have been nearest neighbor rules and syntactic patterns. To improve the performance of these methods, we can specially design exquisite, high precision patterns. However, with an increase in corpus size, this strategy is likely to miss more items and has lower recall. In this paper proposes a novel approach based on the partially supervised alignment model, which regards identifying opinion relations as an alignment process. Compared to the traditional unsupervised alignment model, the proposed model obtains better precision because of the usage of partial supervision. Compared to syntax based methods, our word alignment model effectively alleviates the negative effects of parsing errors when dealing with informal online texts. The objective is to propose a method based on a monolingual Word alignment model (WAM). An opinion target can find its corresponding modifier through word alignment. In addition, the WAM can integrate

The decade following Tanzania s independence (1960 1970) did not manifest intense corruption. Where it took place it tended to be restricted to low level officials who demanded and received negligible sums of money. As the country expanded the public sector and public administration institutions progressively decayed, entailing the rise of bureaucratic malfunctioning, opportunities for rent seeking behavior and asking and offering bribes started creeping in. In the same period, the cost of living rose dramatically while public service pay remained static or declined. Public officials became driven by a culture of survival and they progressively adopted deviant behavior patterns discussed earlier in the paper, including the use of corruption as an income maintenance strategy. To address and control the trend of increased corruption, the Nyerere Government enacted the leadership code as part of the Arusha Declaration which had been adopted in 1967 and dedicated Tanzania to the pursuit of Ujamaa and Self Reliance as its ideology. While moral suasion through a socialist code of conduct was making its contribution to the fight against corrupt tendencies, the country came to experience a major economic crisis following the oil crisis and the after effects of the war with Idd Amin in the late 1970s and early 1980s, with double digit inflation, major fiscal deficits and negative economic growth. That situation saw the state lose its ability to pay
