Child s Interview Limitations

The child s interview selected has many strengths and limitations. As an objective expert, I will provide the court with scientific evidence of two significant problems with this interview. The two significant problems being identified and addressed today are the effects of a biased interviewer, and misleading and suggestive questioning techniques. Both of these problems are related to this forensic interview. Quality issues of the child s report, as well as how it could be improved will also be explained. The first issue going to be discussed is the effects of a biased interviewer. In this child s report, the interviewer can been seen as biased when the child is called dumb and is belittling for not providing the answer the interviewer wants,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In the child s report, this is seen in the form of tag questions (request for confirmation at the end of a statement), yes/no questions, double barrelled questions (a question that contains two or more questions in one), and close ended questions. A suggestive question is involved when the interviewer uses information in a question or statement that the child has not reported. This appeared to happen multiple times during this report. A study by Robbers and Schneider (2000) looked at misleading and suggestive questioning in interviews. 6 , 8 , and 10 year old children were shown a video, then 3 4 weeks later, interviewed about it (adults were included in the study too, but we are not concerned with those findings). The children were asked either a set of open ended, unbiased questions, or misleading questions suggesting a detail. They found that the children were very vulnerable to the misleading and suggestive questions, and that they had difficulties with their memory, misinformation, and accuracy when they were subjected to the misleading questions (Robbers Schneider, 2000). Generally speaking, the problem with misleading and suggestive questions is that they can compromise the integrity in a child s report, and confuse the child during the time of the interview, leading to false information. This could have been avoided if the interviewer used open ended questions and prompts at the beginning of the interview and then used focused questions once the child raised details in order to gain more

The Medical Science Of Cardiology

The Medical Science of Cardiology Have you ever felt your heart race after a run, or when you watch a movie, your heart stops? Well, your heart is an incredibly important organ within the human body that keeps you alive and helps run your body. The heart is such an important component of the body. If something goes wrong, it needs to be taken care of immediately; this urgent job is given to cardiologists. Cardiology is the medical science of treatment of the heart. This science is filled with specialists known as cardiologists. A cardiologist is a doctor with special training and skill in finding, treating and preventing diseases of the heart and blood vessels (What is a Cardiologist?). When becoming a cardiologist, you may choose to specialize in a certain area. Within the broad spectrum of cardiology, there are many subspecialties, or sub branches within the field. Sub branches within cardiology include the following: electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, general clinical cardiology, nuclear cardiology, heart failure and transplant cardiology, preventative cardiology, and many more. Electrophysiology focuses on irregular heartbeats and timing. Interventional cardiologists specialize in treating cardiovascular disease, heart problems that the patient has had since birth, and angioplasty and stenting. General clinical cardiologists target management and prevention of diseases. Nuclear cardiologists use small amounts of radiation to

Toxic Masculinity

Few would argue against the notion that society has unrealistic and unfair expectations of women. However, little time seems to be spent talking about harmful societal expectations of men, specifically those associated with toxic masculinity. Toxic masculinity is when men feel the need to prove their masculinityby upholding traditional masculine values and behaviors in a way that is detrimental to themselves and others. These behaviors traditionally associated with men include a need to prove one s strength over others, blocking out emotional attachments, asserting dominance over others, and denying traditionally feminine behavior, such as crying and showing emotional weakness (Hess). Michael Omi s article In Living Color: Race and American Culture describes how the media has had a large role in perpetuating racial stereotypes, but all his arguments can very well be related to genderstereotype. Movies that glorifies toxic masculinity will inevitably legitimize its behaviors to the public. Therefore, media that critiques stereotypes is important to shifting audience opinions. Despite being a comedy film about a team of superheroes fighting aliens threatening the universe, the 2017 Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 tackles this subject of toxic masculinity through essentially all of its male characters. In particular, the movie s protagonist, Peter, is the focal point of this commentary. Peter s mother died when he was young and his father was absent his entire

Comprehensive Ignorance

Currently, there is no national standard regarding sexual education in America. Soaring sexually transmitted infection (STI) rates are occurring at a national level there are approximately nine million new occurrences of STI s in the United States each year among teenagers and young adults alone (Alan Guttmacher Institute 2011). Consequently, the United States continues to have one of the highest teen pregnancyrates in the developed world more than twice as in Canada (Alan Guttmacher Institute 2011). This large number of infected teenagers combined with the startling pregnancy rates has caused a state of panic in many states, provoking discussion on the topic of introducing comprehensive sexual education into the classroom as a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although teaching abstinence is useful and can benefit an individual, it clearly is not enough. While the department of education does include a recommendation for school districts to develop and implement age appropriate sex education, it s not mandated in many states. There is confusion among teenagers about the different methods they can use to protect themselves; for example, contraceptives (such as birth control) do not prevent STI s, but do prevent pregnancies. In fact, almost 37% of 18 25 year olds incorrectly believe at least one of the following: transmission of HIV is possible by sharing a glass, kissing, or touching a toilet seat (The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation 2006). Without the proper knowledge, teens simply cannot be expected to act accordingly. Abstinence only education gives students an incomplete education, and expects students to disregard the gaps in teachings. This isn t just unfair; it is dangerous. In a study performed by the American Journal of Public Health involving 4,000 teens over a period of seven years, they found that adolescents who used condoms during their first intercourse had on average the same number of partners as those who did not use a condom. However, the former group was 30 percent more likely to have used condoms in their most recent sexual encounter,

Antoinette s Misogyny

survivalist desire for financial security, as second son; however, they encompass also the more malignant components of sexism, racism and obsession (Anderson 62). He fears that if he does not follow his father s wants he will lose his place in his family. Her husband has his own fears about his wife from her potential genetic madness and that she may be Black. In Rose Kamel s article Before I Was Set Free : The Creole Wife in Jane Eyreand Wide Sargasso Seasupports the idea of Antoinette s misogyny and racism towards his wife. His treatment of Antoinette is similar to the way the slaves treated. This is a reversal view to the way that Antoinette s friend Tia felt in the beginning of the novel. Once a person is removed from their home and sent to a brand new place, their demeanor may change. Additionally, the person may have the need to transform yet, Antoinette s husband decides to take advantage of Antoinette s willingness and use it to his advantage for his misogynic ways. In Faizal Forrestor s article Who Stole the soul in Wide Sargasson Sea? the readers get an insight to the idea that Antoinette s breakdown was a catalyst for her to escape her hardships she endured in life through the racial issues at home and her life with her husband. Purifying herself with the fire and escape through the literal hell will allow her to be who she is. Thus, Antoinette s death is the result of her ongoing search for a door opened where she is somewhere else, something else an exit out of insanity, out of the cardboard world of Jane Eyre (Forrester 38). Once Antoinette has succumbed to her death, one can say that she finally has the option to be who

Why Did I Choose To Serve In Ww2

I would have preferred to serve in World War II. Since World War II was 21 years after World War I many people knew what it was like to fight in a war. The soldiers knew what it was like to fight in a war since some of them would have had experience. They knew how to prevent certain things from happening and how to plan attacks. They also had better fighting tactics and better conditions to fight in during World WarII. The soldiers were able to create new fighting tactics using their knowledge from World War I . In the Italian Campaign they used mouse holding to gain land. Mouse holding is a technique where the soldiers would bomb through the walls of buildings to take out the opposing army. Mouse holding was used to prevent fighting on

Property Dualism

Dualism is generally defined as the division of a concept into two contrasting aspects. Dualism addresses the mind body problem by claiming that the body and mind are separate. Various alternatives to the dualist theory propose the mind and body is connected, materialism everything is physical. Nevertheless, dualists agree, that the essential essence nature of conscious intelligence resides in something nonphysical, in something forever beyond the scope of science (7, Churchland). This nonphysical realm of the mindis considered to have a causal systematic connection with the body, driving a person to act with purpose. This connection, between the physical and nonphysical, is supposed to be what makes your body you and not someone else. Dualists try to offer an explanation behind the connection and separation of the mind and body by using senses and experiences to characterize conscious intelligence.... Substance dualism theorizes that the mind is divided into two substances, one that is a physical substance(body) and one that is a nonphysical substance(mind). This nonphysical substance, the immortal soul, is seen as a part of you separate from your body, a part that could possibly live on past your body s physical degradation. Property dualism is slightly different in the sense that it attributes the physical brain as having a set of non physical properties, rather than a substance. This theory works to narrow the gap in empirical evidence by no longer claiming some mystical substance that lives on forever, but still attempts to account for the part of our minds we have yet to understand. As a property, this theory can then be regarded as a concept that cannot be reduced to the physical or explained by science, a science of mental

Cardiac Muscle Vs Skeletal Muscle

Cardiac muscle tissue is a specialised muscle tissue that is only found in the heart. It is an involuntary muscle as it doesn t response to the needs of your body, even though it s controlled by the brain. In contrast, to the skeletal muscle which is a voluntary muscle as the brain controls the movement but you are aware of the movements. The main function of the cardiac muscle is to pump blood around the body and essentially keep us alive. Whereas, the skeletal muscle has many basic functions such as enabling you to move freely, postural support, and in heat and energy production. The cardiac muscle has evolved to have incredibly high strength and endurance because the heart beats powerfully and continuously throughout an entire lifetime

South

South Asian region is considered the heartland of present times owing to its geo strategic location. Its location has evoked much interest among the major powers of the world. Conventionally, the region of South Asian has served as a hub of attractive economic activity for the other states out of the region. Its importance has further increased after the incident of 9/11 which posed a direct threat to the security of this region and due to extremist element and US presence in this region. Apart from the external factors that are causing serious security threats to the South Asian region, one cannot turn a blind eye from the growing internal conflicts and their impacts in the regional security and strategic stability of this region. Particularly, one cannot deny the fact that South Asian security is directly associated with the relations between the two significant South Asian states i.e. Indiaand Pakistan. The Issue of security dates back to 1947 when the sub continent was divided between India and Pakistan. So the division created the problems of land dispute between two countries including Kashmir, Siacheen and Sir Creek. The geographical division also created water dispute between two countries because of handing over Ferozpur headwork to India that led to India s control of water. This situation was later on resolved by World Bank through Indus Basin Treaty through which the two western rivers were given to India and Pakistan was given a specific Share in water of Indus. Now that share of water is being disputed by India.

The two South Asian neighboring countries Pakistan and India have a unmitigated record of tensions for number of assorted issues including Kashmir dispute, cross border terrorist activities,

The Effect Of Cryogenic Cooling ( Liquid Nitrogen

Abstract

In this paper, the effect of cryogenic (liquid nitrogen) cooling on grain size and mechanical properties of Friction stir welded (FSWed) 2014 Aluminum alloy was studied. The weldingparameters and tool pin profile plays a major role in deciding the weld quality. The threads on the tool profile generates a fairly localized deformation which results high volume of material was stirred and carried with the pin tool and also better mixing of plasticized metal. Cryogenic process (Liquid Nitrogen) was employed after Friction stir welding to reduce the grain size and to improve the mechanical properties of FSWed 2014 Aluminum alloy. It is observed that the grain size is decreased to 250 nm under cryogenic process with the liquid nitrogen by using Transmission electron microscope. It is also observed that mechanical properties are enormously improved. The observed grain size and mechanical properties have been correlated with microstructures and fracture features.

Into The Wild Chris Mccandless Life Essay

After he got down from the Devils Thumb, the author, Jon Krakauer, had to decide what to do after he camped out. He smoked a supply of cigarettes and then his only supply of marijuana. While cooking a meal of oatmeal, he burnt down part of his tent. The tent he brought was borrowed from his own father, and his father was a a stubborn, volatile person. His father was a mountaineer and had encouraged his son to climb by teaching him how to scale a mountain and buying him an ice ax. He was an ambitious man and wanted his children to succeed and be the best in most things. He wanted Jon to either get a job in medicine or law, because he believed that going to a successful college and having a solid career is the key to happiness. Due to this,... The soundtrack of the movie is based off different songs that can relate to the type of music most people will hear from the 1960s. A few artists that is mentioned in the soundtracks are Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, and Mary J Blige. The performance of the movie was outstanding. The thought of having Emma Stone being the protagonist is a film, is a great fit for this type of character in the movie. I believe that Emma Stone have certain way of showing a leadership role a multiple of films that she starred in. Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer did a magnificent job playing as the role off the two maids. Both of these women have probably experienced some sorts of racism in the lives, and can relate well to the movie. Stone, Davis, Spencer have read The Help before, so playing the role of Skeeter and the two maids was easy for them to get into, because of reasons this story beforehand. There s a video on YouTube where Tate Taylor and Kathryn Stockett had mention the fact that these women have read the story before, and enjoyed
