The Concept Of Gasification

2. I consider these activities work because they are all things that have to get done. If I don t, they will just pile up and overwhelm me. I have to do house chores and homework in order to live a sane life. I could walk around in filth , but I would be utterly disgusted by myself. I could also not do my homework, but then I would fail my classes and I will have spent all of this money for nothing. They have to get done, so as much as I hate it, I will do them. 3. The only challenge I that I can predict, is the lack of time that I have to get things done. There are only twenty four hours in a day, and all of them are pretty much jam packed with something. If one activity runs long, it will cut in to another activities time slot. This means... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I. will try to overcome these challenges bypassing close attention to the time. I will also try to multitask. I can do my laundry at the same time as my homework. All I need to do is put a load on and forget about it. I don t have to focus on a single task at once. Some things are easier than others, so I can do a few easy things at the same time. As long as pay attention to the clock and stick to my schedule, I should be fine. 5. The concept of gasification really stuck out to me. I really liked the idea that if an activity is fun you are more likely to do it for the reward of winning. No one likes to clean, but if I test myself to see how far I can get in a room before a song ends I m not cleaning. Instead, I am playing a game that just happens to have an outcome that will make my living space look nicer. I will also want to beat myself. I will always think, Maybe I can get farther with this song. 6. I can use the concept of gasification to make boring old tasks more exciting. If I give myself goals , and more specifically rewards when I reach those goals, I will be more likely to do the activity. If I give myself challenges to complete it won t even feel like work at all. Instead, it will feel like I am just having a good time. It just so happens that I will also be getting things done in the

Analysis of the Bay Delta Conservation Plan with Donovan Rose

Water control in California has always been problematic. Long drafts and severe floods show the coming of the state s and world s changing climate regional differences in water existence and demand for water. A vast network of storage and conveyance facilities delivers water from the wetter parts of the state to population and farming centers in the Bay area, Southern California and the Sun Joaquin Valley. This network is now threatened by the physical and biological fragility of the system s hub in the Sacramento San Joaquin Delta. (2015) California is also living through one of the worst droughts in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Climate change will have a great impact on the future of the world, let alone deltas. California natural inconsistency looks like it is going to increase, bringing fourth constant droughts and floods. It is expected that rising air temperatures will significantly reduce the Sierra Nevada snowpack, which will affect water custody as well as winter and spring flood flows. In addition, increasing temperatures of the water throughout the area may make taking care of aquatic habitats for native fish species much more difficult. After some time, all of these challenges are expected to escalate in magnitude. Government pioneers likewise bear an obligation to guarantee against the danger of significant water supply interruptions. We must shield the delta water conveyance framework from seismic tremor, ocean level ascent and levee busting water surges. Potential resolution calls for difficult and sometimes highly priced trade offs together with inconvenient legal and political changes. The California Department of Water Resources, the Bureau of Reclamation, State and Federal Fish agencies and State and Federal Water Agencies have proposed a fix of systems within to ensure a more efficient, eco friendly flow of fresh water throughout. The proposal is called the Bay Delta Conservation

Advantages Of Composite Materials

2.Composite Materials

2.1.Introduction

Composites are materials consisting of two or more chemically distinct constituents having a clear interface separating them and with properties which cannot be obtained by any constituent material working individually [1].

One of the modern definitions of composite materials was given after 1990 and it says that: A modern composite material is a system formed of at least two constituents, in which the fiber volume fraction is at least 10% and in which the mechanical property values of one component are at least 5 times higher than the values of properties of the second component. [1].

As an example, While a high strength fiber can have a tensile strength of 3500 MPa or more, a typical polymeric matrix normally has a tensile strength of only 35 to 70 MPa [2].

Persuasive Essay On Nuclear Technology

The meaning of irradiation is the process of exposure to radiation, such as using gamma rays for sterilization. There have been many controversies about food irradiation. Some people say that using nuclear technology on food can cause harm to the body. But I believe that using nuclear technology is the best way to remove any diseases on food to cause less harm to the human body. Irradiationcan also be used to preserve nutrients in food and kill microbes that destroy them. Using preservation procedures exposes food to gamma radiation, a high energy light that eliminates microorganism and insects. We should be using technology to irradiate food because it allows us to kill pathogens that cause fewer infliction to our human bodies. So I want to increase funding for nuclear technology because we are able to use the technology to improve our safety, preservation, and sterilization.

Nuclear technology is able to improve our safety by eliminating pathogens, which are bacterias, viruses or any other microorganisms that cause diseases. Nuclear technology is a benefit for our advancement for human safety. We are able to use technology to kill any pathogens on our foods, thus making food safer for human consumption. Not only is it safe, but most officials for food safety has approved for the use of nuclear technology to improve human safety as the Preventing pathologic food poisoning sanitation not irradiation, article says, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found the

Health Risks And Health Risk Factors

Health risk factors are tobacco use, physical inactivity, poor diet, high blood pressure, and high stress level. These are very serious and not being treated could lead to a more serious problem. There are two terms that tie into health risk factors. Wellness which is the quality is being healthy in the mind and body. Another term is physical fitness which means; the general state of health and well being. It also can be described as; physical fitness is generally achieved through direct nutrition, exercise, hygiene, and rest. These risk factors are some of the most important to know about. That is why I will talk about them. Tobacco use is abused in today s world. Each day there are more than 32,000 people under the age 18 will smoke their first cigarette. the Future Rise in Global Ocean Water Levels Ajith Madhav Kuthumbaka, Krupal Mamidala California State University Long Beach, EE 503 Advanced Systems Engineering

Abstract Sea level rise due to change in climate is a severe global threat; Flooding, storm surges, and other consequences of the rise in ocean water level have a widespread adverse effects on coastal cities across the globe. Consistent rise in ocean levels have occurred throughout the world for thousands of years. The data from tide gauge observations and global satellite imagery, assisted us to determine the rates and causes of rise in sea level. On analyzing the data, it affirms the need for long term reliable observation to estimate accurately the regional changes furthermore to improve our ability to estimate the future changes in ocean levels. Even if the best preventive measures are taken, ocean levels will continue to rise for many decades to come, due to the large time ranges associated with the climatic evolution even if the temperature rise is stabilized. Information from various scientific studies is requried to understand sea level rise (SLR), this review emphasizes the problems and consequences this rise in sea level is creating by projecting the Ocean water levels in the future under the present global conditions.

The Sexual Revolution

Sexual intercourse (n): sexual contact between individuals involving penetration. Throughout the years, social norms in the United States changed drastically. Some people may blame the Sexual Revolution for those causes. The Sexual Revolution, also known as the Sexual Liberation was a social movement that provoked drastic change in traditional behavior related to sexuality and relationships. Before The Sexual Revolution even occurred, people were considered very closed minded and unaware of the possibilities. The traditional norm during this era was establishing sexual intercourse strictly for after marriage. Going against that norm was seen as both shameful and riskful. Not only that, but sexual intercourse was also strictly enforced to be between heterosexual pairs. The LGBT community was both unknown and unheard of during this time period. Aside from people s sexual attractions, Women s rights was not a very big topic spoken about at the time, as well. Women were also under very strict norms, in which they were spoken down to, had limited rights and were silenced in every way possible.

During the 1960s, groups of people who were part of the LGBT community, or as it was known back then the gay community , began identifying themselves as so, very openly. Both gay men and lesbians took direct action in their homes and went against the shame that their community was known to go under. For as long as anyone can recall, the LGBT community was never exactly accepted by all.

The Effects Of Child Labor On The Chocolate Industry

The Effects of Child Labor in the Chocolate Industry: December 6, 2015, was an important day for many Americans, as it marked the 150th year since the abolishment of slavery when the U.S. authorized the 13th Amendment to the Constitution to end what can be described as the darkest chapter of American history. Many in Western Society seem to be unaware of the contemporary slavery still plaguing many developing countries, particularly involving children. The 2010 documentary film called The Dark Side of Chocolate explored the modern day slavery that is occurring within many West African countries, where children are being exploited and trafficked in order to harvest chocolate. In fact, the United States Department of State estimates that approximately 109,000 children in the Ivory Coast s cocoa industry work under the worst forms of child labor (Mustapha, 2010, p.3). By exploring the use of child labor in the chocolate industry in West Africa, this paper will present the argument where I will argue that the unethical use of child labor has led to impoverished families, negative health impacts among children, and has affected economies in West Africa. In order to overcome this situation, there is a need for enforced policies, government action, and corporations taking accountability in order to put an end to child labor. The first part of the paper will discuss how the cocoa industry affects families, the health of child laborers, and the economy, followed by various

Group Therapy Essay

There is a need for many types of group counseling in this civilization that we live in ranging from task / work groups, psychoeducational groups, counseling groups and psychotherapy groups. Groups can defined by the collection of two or more individuals who meet face to face or virtually in an interactive, interdependent way, with the awareness that each belongs to the group and for the purpose of achieving mutually agreed upon goals (Gladding, 2012). As a High School counselor, the development of our children and their selfconcepts of themselves and their attitudes towards school and life are detrimental in ensuring a great future for our country.

Group Description Gladding (2012) explains that, psychotherapy groups with our youth inspires the premises of the idea that education is a treatment not only because of the knowledge learned or what we can teach our children through experiences of our own but also because of the perceptions towards school, peers and life that can be changed. Psychoeducational groups are currently being used for inside and outside group settings which include hospitals , mental health agencies, correctional institutes, social service agencies and some universities because the method is so versatile. These groups can be formed and taught through discussion groups guided group interactions, recovery groups, support groups, orientation groups, educational groups and student centered learning groups which focus on using educational methods to

Ethanol as an Alternative Energy Source Essay

Biofuels: Ethanol an Alternative Energy Source

Abstract

In today s society, when someone wants to go to the movies, work, school, library, or mall, they drive to their destination. The average amount of gasoline consumed per year is about 146 gallons in the U.S. (Biofuels for Transportation, p1). Discoveries of huge petroleum deposits kept gasolinecheap for decades and biofuels were forgotten (Leen, p1). However, with the recent oil prices, along with growing concern of global warming caused by carbon dioxide emissions, biofuel regained popularity (Leen, p1). Ethanol, a renewable fuel made from plants was added to gasoline to increase octane and help the engines burn more efficiently and cleanly (West,p1).

Introduction

Ethanol ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the start of the 20th century, Henry Ford planned to fuel his Model T s with ethanol (Leen, p2). This widely available fuel used in many vehicles on the road including sedans, minivans, SUVs, pickups and light trucks costs about the same as a gallon of regular gasoline. A gallon of E85, a fuel mix of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, contains less energy than a gallon of gasoline (Leen, p2). Although ethanol has lower mileage and requires you to fill your tank more often, research proves that it is better for our environment. In fact, Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, all recommend ethanol fuels (Leen, p2). Drivers would need more ethanol to drive the same distance, and ethanol prices are expected to be higher than gasoline prices when and if it is implemented on a national scale. Drivers of ethanol powered cars may also have to drive further distances to find a specialized gas station, which offers E85 ethanol (Alternative Energy, p1).

Advantages

One of the advantages of ethanol fuel is its organic origins. In the United States, ethanol is primarily derived from corn. Since corn and sugar cane are both renewable resources grown by domestic farmers, the land is known as an advantage (Sunshine, p1). Ethanol burns cleaner than gasoline, which is another one of the advantages. It does not contain significant amounts of toxic materials such as lead and benzene (Sunshine, p1). By lowering the amount of greenhouse gases and ozone created

Introduction

Late advances in micro electro mechanical frameworks and low power and exceedingly incorporated computerized hardware have prompted the improvement of micro sensors. [3]wsn is a developing data innovative progressions in micro hardware and system correspondences. It structures a sagacious network13 application framework comprising of a huge number of minor vitality constrained and ease hubs. Sensor hubs self rulingly sense, transform and impart by means of the radio medium shaping a sorted toward oneself out system design. Ordinarily, sensors report sensed information to an outer base station for further processing.[2] WSN can be characterized as an issue of gadgets, meant as hubs, which can sense the Environment and convey the data gathering from the checked field (e.g. a region of volume) through remote connections.

Steering in sensor systems is extremely difficult because of a few qualities that recognize them from contemporary correspondence and remote specially appointed systems. Above all else, it is unrealistic to assemble a worldwide tending to plan for the arrangement of sheer number of sensor hubs. Hence, traditional IP based protocols can t be connected to sensor systems. Second, in spite of average correspondence organizes practically all applications of sensor systems oblige the stream of sensed information from various areas (sources) to a specific sink. Third, produced information movement has huge excess in it since different sensors may

The Role Of Apolitical Characters In The Plough Of The...

The characters in The Plough of the Stars can be divided into two groups; apolitical and political. However, the extent to which the apolitical characters are warm and human and the political characters are cold and fanatical can be debated. In relation to the apolitical character of Nora, it can be argued that she is warm and human when able to refuse the entry of the political into her marriage. Mrs Gogan, as an apolitical character, attempts to present herself as warm and human , but this is undercut by her juxtaposing actions. While the political characters can be categorised as cold , Bessie s human empathy challenges the characteristic capabilities of political characters. Finally, it can be claimed that the political characters cannot be confined to a group, due to the vast amount of political ideologies presented in the play

The claim that the apolitical characters of The Plough are warm and human can be argued through the initial presentation of Nora. However, this is disrupted when she is no longer able to refuse the political context from her marriage. Nora illustrates her personal distance from the political sphere in her statement, I won t go, Jack; you can go if you wish. Her refusal to attend a political meeting with her husband conveys her opposition towards the political context of the play. Despite this, Nora is depicted as tolerant of other characters political involvement. This is illustrated in her encouragement towards Peter to go to the meeting, as she says, Therefore, Nora s warm and human character is initially presented as accepting of the political. However, her character becomes desperate and hysterical in her exclamation don t mind him, don t mind, Jack. Don t break our happiness... Pretend we re not in. Let us forget everything tonight but our two selves! (O Casey, 28). The diction of pretend and forget are emphasised, reflecting Nora s deliberate opposition against politics entering her marital life (O Casey, 28). The domestic setting in which this action unfolds supports the idea that Nora wishes to refuse the political. This is evident in the description of the home as furnished in a way that suggests an attempt towards a finer expression of domestic
