Literature Review of Treatment Options for Youth with Prader Willi Syndrome
Kristen Rohli
20 November 2017
PSYC 4176 Abstract
Treatment for Prader Willi syndrome currently has no distinct, single direction so the goal of most treatments is to offer relief in a cluster of symptoms. Patients with Prader Willi syndrome typically present some level of intellectual disability and reduced social ability. Due to the rarity of the disorder, research into treatments for Prader Willi syndrome has been limited in the past, particularly because the sample size to test efficacy of treatments is relatively small. Recently, new treatments have been developed for people with Prader Willi syndrome such as psychotropic medications, growth hormone treatment, oxytocin treatment, natural supplements, telehealth intervention, and cognitive behavior therapy. Many of these treatments have given positive results in the short term, but long term studies will be needed to confirm the validity of these treatment options. Literature Review of Treatment Options for Youth with Prader Willi Syndrome
Prader Willi syndrome (PWS) is a genetic disorder typically featuring a deletion or defect on the q arm of chromosome 15 in humans. Phenotypically, people with PWS are short in stature, obese, and have various distinct facial features. Mild intellectual disability is often associated with PWS, especially in areas of speech and language and social procedures. PWS has been found to be
This year we have been studying The Metamorphosis by playwright Steven Berkoff; an adaptation of the novel by Franz Kafka. The play follows the story of Gregor, a working class man who goes to sleep one evening and wakes up having transformed into a cockroach like insect. The scene from the play that we have used as a stimulus was the scene in which Gregor actually transforms from a respected and depended upon son to being an alienated insect who is a burden to his family. In support of these themes, we have created a performance based on the 2008 recession , where thousands of people were affected and economically stable and dependent first world countries fell and transformed into countries where hundreds of thousands of people were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Brecht s political theatre stems from his political views towards communism and the upper class society. Theatre that comments on political issues within society. Brecht began to have a dislike for the capitalist society he was brought up in and wanted more of an equal approach to the world and the people around him. With epic theatre, Brecht wanted it to be both didactic (able to teach others) and dialectic (able to create discussions and ideas). The audience at no time during an epic play can be seen to be in a trance or take what they see on stage for granted. Our performance is reflective of Brecht and his Epic and Political theatre as we address many political topics such as Marxism and the divides between classes and the corruption of the government. We have props such as protest signs and banners to communicate Brecht s political theatre to the audience. In the first episode, Brown s Boys, there is a scene where MPs choke and die after ignoring the recession and protesters emerge into the audience chanting that politics is dead and they don t really care about us while holding banners saying, politics is dead and Gordon Clown . This was done as it represented politics and the fact the seriousness of the situation was ignored; showing how quickly the issues with the recession spiralled out of control and became something that even the higher up in society were unable
Corporate Desertion Video: It isn t fair for companies to relocate their manufacturing outside the U.S. (in order to pay cheaper taxes) and then expect to be represented and protected by the American Government. Cutting out these financial incentives makes more sense than lowering corporate taxes, which would perhaps only make the rich wealthier and the poor poorer. It would cause an even larger ripple effect in the work place, resulting in less pay, hours, and benefits. Additionally, I think companies are beyond the concept of profit, but are greedier than ever. Company holders and CEOs would still be able to live comfortably, if they just stayed in the U.S. and raised the wages and benefits for their workers. The Star Spangled Banner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s even more alarming when I ve listened to people compare such a system to that of communism. Everyone s basic needs would be covered, and the standard of living would be improved dramatically. Factors such as health care and education should be automatically considered human rights instead of privileges in our country.

Inequality for All:
Ways to Address Inequality: (1) Making Work Pay. (2) Strengthening Workers Voices. (3) Investing in Education. (4) Reform Wall Street. (5) Fix TaxSystem.
Like Robert Reich and Bernie Sanders, I don t believe any of these are radical ideas, and essentially, they fall in line with my own vision. While Allan Johnson mentioned we only have to look other countries to see the benefits of socialism, I liked how Reich emphasized that we only have to look back at the past to see what did and didn t work in our country. Inequality was the lowest when the tax rate on high incomes was 91% during the Eisenhower administration; such taxes didn t go below 70% until the Reagan Administration and have readily decreased since. College tuition didn t exist or was cheap compared to today s standards. And, people had the right to form labor unions in order to gain livable
What is equality? Equality is the state of being equal in rights, opportunities, and status. Equality is what every single person deserves; men and women should be treated equivalently. Equality isn t just something we yearn for, it s something that is essential and necessary. The U.S. women s soccer team is being treated unfairly, thus creating an injustice. It shouldn t matter what race, what religion, what gender you are because soccer is universal, respect should be too. They play the same game, it s time they get paid the same. We all have a love and respect for the beautiful game, it s time we have that for each other. The U.S. women s soccer team should be paid the same as the U.S. men s soccer team because we are equal. We all have people we respect whether it s a celebrity, a family member, et cetera. Watching their favorite female soccer players be condescended and belittled could discourage younger girls that aspire to play soccer. We live in a world where the phrase You play like a girl! is a bad thing. Ideally, hearing someone say that should make a female athlete want to say, thank you! with pride and a... Mum! Mum! Come quickly! called the little frog, hopping and skipping with excitement. Come and see the monster! he called. It s got two big spikes sticking out of its head and a funny brush thing at the other end and it goes OARRR AGH! And it kicks frogs. Not now dear, said the little frog s mother. Come on mum! Please!
Mother frog looked more closely at the little one. You re Stanley, aren t you? No mum, I m Zebadee. Are you really? You all look so alike. She had 247 children, and it is hard to remember that many names, so she called everyone Stanley to give her memory a rest. Mu ummm... cried Zebedee.

There are no such things as monsters, Stanley, and no creature in the pond is bigger than
It is critically important to gain all benefits of the military history lessons to abstract the aspects of war, which enhance our leadership and capabilities to take the right decision. Therefore, I am going to start with war definition. War is an act of force to compel our enemy to do our Will . During the eighteenth and the beginning of the nineteenth centuries, a series of conflicts dominated Europe. These conflicts had its influence on the Europe at that time, but the Napoleonic warshad the most lasting impact on western warfare. The explosion of the French revolutionin 1789 is regarded today as an important event in modern history. Different aspects of the French revolution influenced the world affairs today. Therefore, waris an action has a principle to guide the force supported by sustainment, and to compel your enemy you should have the superiority, which comes from the innovation of organization, technology and tactics. Then, from my point of view, the desire of the people nationalism , which remain the only significant factor, drives the societies to war. Thus, Most of military aspects of western ways warfare have been remain constant since the 17th and 18th century, but the most important aspects that characterize ware fare in the age of Napoleon are innovation, principles of war, and from my point of view, I will add nationalism. First, innovation played a crucial role in determining the outcome of the war, Innovations in organization, technology, and
There is something about honor that makes people ask themselves what honor really means. Honor could have many different interpretations. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, honor is specified as someone who is respected, has a good reputation, and who is genuinely a good person. With this denotation in mind, some people might suggest that honor has not changed over time because some people were looked upon as honorable in the middle ages. For example, Julius Caesar and Marcus Brutus were both perceived as honorable men throughout the play. However, this depends on someone s interpretation of honor because the Merriam Webster definition stated that honor is described as someone who is genuinely a good person. Towards the end of the play Marcus Brutus killed Julius Caesar. Therefore, he was no longer respected. Years ago society thought of honor differently. An honorable person was someone who was most likely a knight or a king. The knights went to battle for their masters. In American today, armies go into battle for their country and loved ones. Citizens today might characterize honor as a person or group who does something that is an honorable act. For instance, some might say that Superman is honorable, yet Iron Man is not. Although both Iron Man and Superman save lives, Iron Man is complaisant and greedy. There is no question that the aspect of honor has changed over time. The concept of honor is different now than it was over 100 years ago. To begin, at least
The Windhover Explication Gerard Manley Hopkins, The Windhover, has been described as one of the most challenging poems to explicate, so with my limited knowledge I will attempt to do this correctly and disagree with professors who have studied this poem far longer than I have. The breaking of the word kingdom between line 1 and 2 is meaningful. The falcon is described as both morning s minion and king. If the break were after dom there would have been less exaltation of the falcon, which Hopkins sets up by using the dynamic verb caught, which implies spontaneity, joy, and delight, instead of a more mundane verb like view or note. The division of the word kingdom also allows for two simultaneous interpretations of the first two lines. The first interpretation being that the falcon is the kingdom, and the other being that the falcon is the dauphin of the dom(e) of daylight (Rudanko 176). For the sequence dapple dawn drawn sequence Rudanko proposes 4 possible ways of interpretation based on previous literary analysis and his own which are as follows: (1) The falcon is attracted by the dappled dawn. (2) The falcon is sketched against the dappled dawn. (3) The dappled falcon is attracted by the dawn. (4) The dappled falcon is sketched in silhouette against the dawn (Rudanko 176). However, immediately following this sequence the falcon is described as riding therefore it is not plausible that 2 or 4 are accurate interpretations of the sequence given that the dappling of the bird would be imperceptible if he were to be silhouetted and that if the dawn is dappled there would be enough light in the rest of the sky to illuminate the bird enough for it to not just appear as a silhouette. The only question left to answer is then, is the sky dappled or is the bird? When the poem is read aloud, as Hopkins intended with his works, the most natural way of hearing it is that the dawn is dappled. Hopkins has also described the sky as being dappled in other poems such as Pied Beauty, leading to the conclusion that option 1 is the way in which the sequence should be read, that the falcon is attracted by the dappled dawn. There is much less ambiguity over the line, Of the rolling level underneath him steady air,
Increased human wolf conflict are due to rise in the wolf population coupled with the lack of state authority to remove problem wolves .Even though Wolves can maintain populations and are beautiful animals that people say should not be harmed, I think we should be able to hunt wolves because wolves make it hard for animals to stay in one area and roam free and wolves destroy other animals habitats. Wolves can maintain populations and are beautiful animals that should not be harmed , which is what Howling for Wolves group said. Howling for wolves was created to be a voice for the wolves. Gray wolves are a major draw for Minnesota s yearly $500 million wildlife tourism economy, and they hold deep cultural meanings for many minnesotans. Wolves... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason they are moving in is because there prey has nowhere left to go because they are getting pushed farther and farther in towards homes and civilization. Wolves can cause property damage such as the taking of pets are breaking into freezers. The most known animals that have this behavior are the Wolf / Coyote Hybrid or the coywolf. This breed is a good reason why we should be able to kill these animals because a mix of wolf and coyote is probably more of a problem then any other animal. Another Example of wolves are moving into urban areas is all the walking trails around these areas are woodlands which is what wolves like and if you re walking along with your pet and one jumps out you will most likely get attacked if you try to protect your pet. People should know by now to bring a sort of weapon or pepper spray to protect themselves. Most wolves won t hesitate to get a free meal. This is why if we kill wolves they will stop moving into urban areas and go more toward sheltered areas and will be afraid of us so they won t come near us. So it is clear that although Wolves can maintain populations are a beautiful animal that people say should not be harmed, I still think we should be able to hunt wolves for two main reasons. First, Wolves make it hard for animals
these are two, and never more, nor yet lesse, yea ever the same, they are Olive trees, else no witnesses and also Candlesticks... (Burnham 441). Even though, that seems like a jumble of writing, Burnham reveals that if analyzed that it is Gorton asking his Massachusetts neighbors to task for practicing a legalistic Puritanism that mistakes visible works (or sanctification) for the invisible justification of grace (Burnham 441). This shows his opinion on the religion in the area, but as the reader already knows from the article, Gorton is seen as antinomianism by the puritans in the area. His writing always has religious undertones, which exhibit his own opinions and those of his followers, but he connects his theological views with his antimonopoly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Obviously, this is something that can be refuted, as all history can. If one looks at different sources and examines different areas or even examines it in a different light, a different conclusion can be made, but through all of the information given in her article, the reader can be convinced to agree with her. Before this article, Samuel Gorton was is often an unknown historical figure, but through her character development, all sides of his personality, his work and the events and his dissent, he turns into a understandable man who lived in the time period, along with what a Leveller is and what they support. She establishes Gorton as a Leveller by comparing and contrasting the beliefs of the group to Gorton s personal beliefs exhibited through his writing, actions, religion and the writing of other about him. However, to make this argument more solid, she could have introduced more of a background on Levellers, because even with her definition and description they appear as sort of an ambiguous group, due to her focus almost completely on the ideas of theirs that coincide with Gorton s. Overall, as Burnham securely establishes in her article, Samuel Gorton is a Leveller, in puritan New England that caused many problems due to his differing theological and political views which he expressed
