Provisional Government Essay

Provisional Government

The Provisional Government had attempted to keep its power over Russian affairs during the trouble that followed the abdication of the tsar in February 1917, and as events would show, they were largely unsuccessful in doing so. This may have been because of Kerensky s mistakes, the government s lack of political power, or its failure to solve the problems of Russia s peasant majority. The Bolsheviks were quick to take advantage of time of weakness, although whether or not they succeeded because the Provisional Government failed needs to be assessed.

The primary weakness of the Provisional Government was that it was essentially powerless. Primarily this was because the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Mensheviks and Socialist Revolutionaries had great political power, starting from the Petrograd Soviet and reaching out to control in the soviets established in the other Russian cities.

The Great War also made a large problem for the Provisional Government, especially after it mistakenly decided that it would be best to continue fighting in the war. While at first succeeding in a campaign against Austria, continued failures afterwards led soldiers and sailors to mutiny. The failed campaigns demoralized the nation and unwittingly increased support for the anti war Bolsheviks. By attempting to send some units of the Petrograd garrison to the front, the government made situations worse, eventually escalating to chaotic desertions of army garrisons. Paradoxically, the Provisional Government had rallied the offensive in the war in order to create a sense of civic patriotism that hopefully would end the conflict and bring peace to Russia.

The Provisional Government failed to solve much of the issues that racked the nation, especially the ever present problem of lack of food and the redistribution of the land that the peasants wanted. In this way the Bolshevik party appealed to the masses, using attractive slogans such as Peace, Bread and Land! and All Power to the Soviets! Whether or not they would fulfil their promises meant little as

Pedagogical Approach

Pedagogical is related to the way that early year s practitioners and teachers teach the children. There are a lot of different studies of teaching methods and all have a strong evidence base. The teachers are involved in promoting effective learning that is beneficial to the children. Early years practitioners and teachers focus on structured learningso that the children are enjoying learning to read and write as well as learning how to use numbers mathematically and problem solve. The teachers and early year s practitioners look for different approaches to the children s playthat will help them learn and develop on new skills while they are playing. The play strategy is based on the views of people working in the play sector and most importantly the views of the children and young people. The play strategy protects the child s rights to play and learn. There are four sections the play strategy looks at, at home, at nursery, in school and also in the community these action plans are set for short term, medium term and long term. The Regency Grand Hotel

The Regency Grand Hotel (p. 290 textbook)

Elizabeth Ho, Prada Singapore, under the supervision of Steven L. McShane, The University of Western Australia

The Regency Grand Hotel is a five star hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. The hotel was established fifteen years ago by a local consortium of investors and has been operated by a Thai general manager throughout this time. The hotel is one of Bangkok s most prestigious hotels, and its 700 employees enjoyed the prestige of being associated with the hotel. The hotel provided good welfare benefits, above market rate salary and job security. In addition, a good year end bonus amounting to four months salary was rewarded to employees regardless of the hotel s overall performance during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Regency Grand Hotel has always been very profitable, and its employees have always worked according to management s instructions. Their responsibility has been to ensure that the instructions from their managers are carried out diligently and conscientiously. Under the previous management, innovation and creativity were discouraged. Indeed, employees were punished for their mistakes and discouraged from trying out ideas that had not been approved by management. As a result, employees were afraid to be innovative and to take risks.

Becker met with Regency s managers and department heads to explain that empowerment would be introduced in the hotel. He told them that employees must be empowered with decision making authority so that they could use their initiative, creativity and judgment to satisfy guest needs, and handle problems effectively and efficiently. However, he stressed that the more complex issues and decisions were to be referred to superiors, who were to coach and assist rather than provide direct orders. Furthermore, Becker stressed that mistakes were allowed but that making the same mistakes more than twice would not be tolerated. He advised his managers and department heads not to discuss with him minor issues or problems and not to consult with him about minor decisions. Nevertheless, he told them that they were to discuss important, major issues and decisions with him. He concluded the meeting by asking

The

In 2004 the Boston Red Sox won the World Series for the first time in 86 years. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series in 2016 to end a 108 year championship drought. What do they have in common? The teams both had a success in the early 20th century, but both blundered for extensive amounts of time before winning another world championship. Both had to overcome a huge deficit to complete their championship winning seasons. Both teams were coming off a successful season the year before, and had big offseason acquisitions to strengthen their team as well mid season acquisitions. The two also had playoff heroes that dazzled the audience on their paths to victory. The two teams are very much in common, but they are also different teams in... However, the Yankees subsequently caught fire, eventually winning the division by three games. In the 1986 World Series, Boston took a 5 3 lead in the top of the 10th inning. Red Sox reliever Calvin Schiraldi retired the first two batters, putting the team within one out of winning the World Series. However, the New York Mets scored three runs and winning it when Boston first baseman Bill Buckner allowed a ground ball to roll through his legs. In 2003, the Red Sox were playing the Yankees in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series. Boston held a 5 2 lead in the eighth inning, and Boston opted to stay with starting pitcher Pedro Martínez rather than go to the bullpen. New York rallied against the tired Martínez, scoring three runs on a single and three doubles to tie the game. Then in bottom of the 11th inning, Aaron Boone launched a solo home run to win the game and the pennant for the Yankees.

Similar to Boston, Chicago had The Curse of the Billy Goat. The curse was supposedly placed on the Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball franchise in 1945 by Billy Goat Tavern owner William Sianis that lasted from 1945 2016. Between that 1908 triumph, which was the Cubs second world championship (they d also won the Series in 1907) Before the curse Chicago had won national League Pennants in 1910,

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Crisis

Crisis refers to a person s reaction to a particular event. One person might be deeply affected while the other has little or no ill effects to the same event. It presents a obstacle, threat or trauma but at the same time it gives opportunity for either growth or decline. The events that trigger a crisis can be from a wide range of life experiences, from development hurdles such as puberty to natural disasters to the death of a loved one. When people face a crisis, they can experience a range of physical and physiological symptoms as well as changes in their normal routines and relationships. Old Major s Speech In Animal Farm By John Orwell

One of the most interesting speeches in Animal Farm is the one made by Old Major shortly before his death. It is a speech that seeks to ensure that the animals on the farm come to realize their rights and to spur them towards rebelling against their human masters. A consequence of this speech is that it has considerable ramifications, since it ends up leading to the revolution against Jones, the owner of the farm and makes the animalstake control over the entire farm. Old Major s speech is an important aspect of the story because it is what sets up its plotline while at the same time ensuring that there is advancement of the recognition of the animals rights and the need for them to exercise these rights against tyrannical administrators.

Old Major s speech helps the animals on the farm to ensure that they recognize their rights. The speech is reminiscent of Karl Marx s Communist Manifesto because it allows for an analysis of the lives that the animals are undergoing and creates proposals concerning the best way through which to improve their lives for the better. One of the most significant statements that Old Major makes is that the life of the animals is miserable, laborious, and short (Orwell 27). This is an important statement that shows the lives of animals essentially being in the service of their master rather than for themselves. A consequence is that Old Major seeks to show that the animals, as intelligent beings themselves, have a right to have happy lives,

Conflict Resolution in a Virtual Environment

The human mind is a unique filter and for this reason, every one of us thinks and perceives situations in our own way. One crisis that might be diminutive in nature for one person can be colossal in nature to another person. This dichotomy gives rise to differences of opinions, and different opinions can lead to arguments. If arguments are weighed purposefully and fairly in conflict, then resolutions can lead to a meaningful outcome. However, if arguments are just for the sake of arguments, this might lead to an undesired situation leading to conflicts among people. Conflicts among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

These emails turned into a workplace disagreement. The differences in opinion caused the meeting to be rescheduled. The affect hindered our organizational performance. In my conflict, we need to examine different reasons for conflicts. According to research, latent conflict represents all of the potential sources of conflict at the individual or group level (Baack, 2012, p.7.3). For example, the source of the conflict between the team member and me was a difference in opinion on how to organize the group assigned task. Again, not all conflicts are the same, and for this reason, managementshould have a heightened awareness of the different levels of conflicts in the workplace.

According to research, Resolving conflict cannot take place until the level has been properly identified (Baack, 2012, p. 7.3). The four levels of conflict are intrapersonal or intra psychic conflict, interpersonal conflict, intra group conflict, intergroup conflict. In my situation, the level of conflict with the team member was an intra group conflict. According to research, Intra group conflict refers to incidents between members of a group. Disagreements about goals, methods of operation, and leadership create intra group conflicts. When conflicts are not properly managed and resolved, the end results can be poor decisions and ineffective group functioning (Baack, 2012).

The source of the intra group conflict was task related. According to studies, task

Nickel And Dimed On By Barbara Ehrenreich

The article Nickel and Dimed On (Not) Getting By In America written by Barbara Ehrenreich, who has a PHD in biology, informs the reader about the struggle a low wage worker in America has to go through. Ehrenreich goes undercover and takes low wage jobs to experience how a person with minimum wage of $6 $7/hour survives. During her experiment Ehrenreich only uses the money she earns from her job to pay rent, buy groceries,do laundry, pay for phone, and car. Throughout the article Ehrenreich s purpose is to make high class feel grateful for what they have but at the same time she encourages them to rally support to change conditions for low wageworkers. Ehrenreich uses rhetorical techniques of syntactic repetition, pathos, ethos, and evidence to persuade middle and high class Americans to realize the need to raise the minimum wagein order for low wage workers to live comfortable lives.

One of the many rhetorical techniques Ehrenreich uses is syntactic repetition as a way of instilling emotions in a readers in order to make them feel sorry for the conditions low wage workers endure and then help in some capacity. In very first sentence of the article Ehrenreich lists; At the beginning of June 1998 I leave behind everything that normally soothes the ego and sustain the body home, career, companion, reputation, ATM card for a plunge into the low wage workforce (Ehrenreich 243). In this quote Ehrenreich just lists facts of what she leaves behind but it makes a reader

A Brief Biography of Rene Descartes

The end of Renaissance science and the beginning of total mechanization of nature era brought a mentality different from what it was. There was a loss of spirituality and physicality and gain of motion and increase of momentum. Theories of self were approached with regards that natural objects were machines, and with such a notion brought the intrigue of how these machines operated. This concept, corpuscularism, catapulted a transition and divide within the natural world with no intention or possibilities of reverting to past notions. The seventeenth century was a pivotal point in history, which can be attributed by through works of philosopher Rene Descartes, who had endorsed the mechanistic conception of the world and the human body by coining notions such as mind, substance, and the knowledge argument; although his notions were not always accepted, he managed to provide valid support. Born in France, Rene Descartes, dubbed The Father of Modern Philosophy was, in a way, a Renaissance man having contributed influence amongst subjects such science, mathematics, psychology, and philosophy. Descartes was the medium of the philosophers before him, Michel de Montaigne and Galileo Galilei. Descartes had sought to marginalize inquiry into skeptical epistemology and human psychology like Montaigne, except in a scientific manner. He also incorporated Galileo s innovation of subjectivity. By doing so, Descartes had exposed the scientific irrelevance to soul by proposing that,

Theme Of Women In The Things They Carried

In Tim O Brien s narrative, The Things They Carried, characters are shown going through excruciatingly difficult war struggles. There are many intriguing themes that O Brien is sharing in the text, but the most striking is the differences between the way each person handles war. People in the story cope by imagining things for motivation and pleasure. Imagination can help soldiers, but also does not help in war when the coping distracts one from important situations. The most common coping mechanism in the war stories has to do with women because they were used as security blankets during war. Soldiers use women, imagined and real, to offer an escape from war, but due to their inability to understand the war, the women cannot help them cope. Imagining women does not help soldiers cope in war when reality is propped up next to it. In the short story, The Things They Carried , LieutenantJimmy Cross loved a girl named Martha so much that she took away his focus on the war. Tim O Brien sets the scene by stating, First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross carried letters from a girl named Martha...They were not love letters, but Lieutenant Cross was hoping (O Brien 1). Cross carried letters from Martha with him to help him escape from the war. The author purposefully uses the word hope to portray to the reader that Martha did not love him, and that he knew that was true. The word brings lots of context to the quote because it is explaining how hoping helped him cope during the war. It

George Orwell s Treatment Of Women In 1984

George Orwell s 1984 written in 1948 displays the dangers of a totalitarian government through the dystopian society of Oceania set in the year 1984. Through the eyes of the main character Winston Smith the audience is thrusted into a world where there is no trust, passion, or a true sense friendship. The land of Oceania is not every man for himself, but every man for the Party. Through this same perspective, the social group of women are portrayed in a negative light. This may be a result of Winston s past experiences with women and the social conditioning he underwent simply by living within Oceania. Within the first 20 pages of the text it is made obvious to the audience that Winston is not fond of the female gender, claiming that He disliked nearly all women, and especially the young and pretty ones describing them as ...the most bigoted adherents of the Party, (10). Winston even goes as far to describe a twisted fantasy he had in regards to a female Party member Vivid, beautiful hallucinations flashed through his mind. He would flog her to death with a rubber... Big Brother and the Party needed impregnable loyalty so over time they systematically tore the ties between lovers and family. We [The Party] have cut the links between child and parent, and between man and man, and between man and woman, No one dares trust a wife or a child or a friend any longer. (267). A government like Oceania s is dependant on no loyalty, except loyalty toward the Party so they created a system that creates Party loyalty as the only reliable option. Winston s life is merely an example of the Party s plan in action. Due to this system the two main genders were heavily separated creating stigma between the two adding to why Winston dislikes
