The Origins Of Sandwich Panels
2.Background and literature review Many books and articles provide systematic information about a range of aspects of sandwich panels. Some studies has addressed creep behavior for one or two typically used sandwich panels in construction industry. This part of the thesis will provided background knowledge of sandwich panels, as well as developed equations based on different theories about creep behavior of sandwich panels. Other specific aspects about creep in sandwich panels will also be included, such as temperature influence in creep behavior. 2.1Origins and development The origins of sandwich construction can be found in many book which introduce these type of structure. Although Noor, Burton, and Bert (1849, cited in Vinson 1999) state the basic concept of sandwich construction in 19th century, the sandwich construction is relatively new concept and firstly be used in aerospace industry (Davies 2001). The development of technology in sandwich construction is driven by special demand of the shell of spacecraft or aircraft, which is light in weight yet strong enough to sustain huge air pressure in acceleration or landing. A perfect example of this application is Apollo space ship, which successful landed on the moon on 20 July 1969.The wall construction of Apollo capsule was made by two interconnected sandwich shells, and each of them has a honeycomb core. Colorado River Basin Essay
The Colorado River Basin starts in the Rocky Mountains and cuts through 1500 miles of canyon lands and deserts of seven US states and two Mexican states to supply a collection of dams and reservoirs with water to help irrigate cropland, support 40 million people, and provide hydroelectric power for the inland western United States [1,2]. From early settlement, rights over the river have been debated and reassigned to different states in the upper and lower basin; however, all the distribution patterns lead to excessive consumption of the resource. In 1922, the seven US states signed into the Colorado River Compact, which outlined the policy for the distribution rights to the water [3], however, this compact was written during an exceptionally... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As previously mentioned, the Colorado River compact was written and signed during abnormally wet climate cycles [4]. When the climate cycled back into the more traditional drier climate during the mid twentieth century, the river no longer made it to the Gulf of California. While this was not an immediate concern as water levels remained well above the critical elevation, recent global warming trends have played a major role in the decline water supply in the Colorado River Basin. Over the past 15 years, the Colorado River Basin has experienced declining annual precipitation rates and higher temperatures throughout the year, which has cascade into higher evaporative loads from the soil and reservoirs, longer growing seasons that require more water, earlier melting times, all of which have reduced runoff and water supply [10]. In addition to the environmental factors, the differing conservation policies, water costs, and infrastructure planning across the basin state has contributed to water consumption that is above the basin s renewable supply [14]. States like Nevada enforce strict that limit residents use via strict conservation policies, while states like California and Colorado use their senior water rights to maximum legal consumption and are planning to construct larger dams to
Task 3: Internal control 1. What do you think is the primary problem at the Sunshine Center? There where no financial reports or summaries of the cash flows. Probably, Barb wasn t fare about the payments. Because there was no financial report it was not clear where all the money went to. 2. Why is accountability important to the Sunshine Center Committee? The director? Cli
ents of the Sunshine Center? Church members? It is so important to the committee so they can check if the cash balance is still okay. The director can check if everybody does his work well and if there are no financial problems. Sometimes it s a matter of just never having enough or sometimes it is about psychological satisfaction, proving that one can beat the system. The second part is opportunity. The opportunity to commit fraud usually arises through weak internal controls. The third element is rationalization. It results from distorted thinking, like I need this . I can see the elements of opportunity. There are weak internal controls in Sunshine. 9. What types of fraudulent activities could Barb have perpetrated? Do you think it is possible that Barb did not commit fraud? Why? Probably fraudulent financial reporting. But it is also possible that the excuses she says are true. There is no direct evidence that she committed fraud because there are no guidelines how the financial reports should be. 10. How would you determine if a misappropriation of funds occurred? Checking the receipts of cash flows and ask for more information about the transfer when I think something is not correct. 11. What are the primary strengths of the Sunshine Center for its clients? They have a good child care program and are a ministry of the church. This could be a important reasons for parents to put their child to Sunshine Center. 12. What must happen for this child care program to remain a viable ministry of the church? They need to get a good financial system where every transaction is reported and all bills are
The Defining Of Subculture By Ken Gelder

The defining of subculture necessitates at least a short explanation of what what entails mainstream culture. Mainstream or dominant culture is simply the culture that is most prevalent in a society at a particular place at a particular time. There is some overlap with the term normal, though what is perceived as normal within a society can be defined by inherent identities such as race, sex, or dis/ability whereas mainstream culture (and by extension, subculture) is defined by chosen interests, aesthetics, or practices.. One does not choose to be born a member of a marginalized identity group, but inclusion or exclusion vis a vis dominant culture is somewhat (though perhaps not entirely) optional.
In his introductory essay to The Subcultural Reader, editor Ken Gelder describes subcultures as always seen in terms of their relationship to, and function within, the broader social system. That is to say there can be no subcultures without a dominant culture to reject or be excluded from. However, while subculture entails a choice, the non inclusion into dominant culture is not always so. In dressing, speaking, or creating and consuming art, an individual can be represented by others as apart from mainstream culture and/or categorized as part of a specific, named subculture. An easy to understand example of this is that of a person who, for whatever reason chooses to wear all black clothing receiving the label goth from
Dog Grooming Techniques
Living near the woods is a great way for your big dog to get the exercise it needs to be happy and healthy. Unfortunately, your pal has probably come home numerous times with a litany of burrs stuck in its coat. These burrs mat up its hair and ruin its shine. Follow these simple dog grooming tips to get the burrs out of your buddy s coat and to restore its beautiful coat.
Tools You ll Need
Getting burrs out of your dog s coat doesn t require an expensive list of tools. However, it does require a handful of tools that you may already own. These items are designed to break up the tangles in your dog s fur and help safely and effectively remove the burrs from their beautiful coat.
Tools that you need to invest in include:
Gloves Hair pick Dog brush Pliers Small plastic container Blanket Dog toy
A few of these tools are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Use the following process to get them out:
Start by using a pick to gently untangle matted fur. Use pliers to break up more severe tangles, carefully pulling the hair away from your dog s body. Inspect the fur between his paw pads and carefully remove any burrs that may be lingering. Let your dog chew on a toy or interact with a second person to keep them calm. Work through all their burrs in this way and brush their hair when you re done.
A good cleaning with high quality dog shampoo may be necessary at this point, as it will help restore much of your pup s missing luster. However, you should probably wait for a few hours before doing that: by now, your pup may be a little anxious and nervous, and may need time to unwind.
By following this advice, you can not only keep your dog s coat beautiful, but keep them happy, healthy, and safe. To learn more about this topic and others like it, please contact us
Vitamin C Lab Report
Introduction
Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is a well known supplement that is essential to the human body. Vitamin C helps grow and repair body tissue, make collagen, heal wounds, and strengthen bones and teeth. Unfortunately, the body does not produce this vitamin itself, therefore it must be obtained from another source. Vitamin Cis present in significant amounts in both fruits and vegetables. These foods are commonly pasteurized a process that applies heat to destroy pathogens that cause spoilage in food. Pasteurization is great for preserving foods, but its effects on the food s contents are important to consider. This process could affect the levels of ascorbic acidin the foods being consumed for their vitamin C content. Specifically, orange juice, one of the most popular sources of vitamin C, is going to be used to examine the effects of pasteurization on ascorbic acid levels in this experiment. Hypothesis Rationale: Pasteurization decreases the natural level of vitamin C in orange juice because the heat may cause the chemical bonds in ascorbic acid to break down and disband.
Materials and Methods
Orange Juice Materials: Three oranges were used for this experiment to obtain a decent amount of juice. Each orange was cut in half and juiced according to steps 1 and 2 of Appendix I of the Laboratory Manual for Biology 201 (Denniston, Wimmers, Hemm 2015). The juice from the first orange and one half of the second orange was strained into a small beaker following

The Crimea Incident and Its Lasting Effects On Politics
Two years ago, the Crimean Peninsula, an autonomous region of Ukraine, was put under the global spotlight when it became the epicenter of the newest conflict between Russia and the West. This conflict is only the most recent development in Crimea s troubled history. The strategically situated peninsula on the Black Sea has switched hands numerous times throughout history. The area has been under the rule of the ancient Greeks, The Byzantine Empire, the Tatars of the Mongolian Golden Horde, the Ottoman Empire, and of course most recently Tsarist Russia followed by the Soviet Union.
To understand the conflict, which is being dubbed as the biggest crisis between Russia and the West since the Cold War, one must first grasp the political and historical background present in the Crimea region. While the Crimean region has a long history spanning back to 6th century B.C., only the events since medieval times is relevant to current issues, furthermore the most recent histories pose most significance. Two years ago, Russia began its annexation of Crimea, which belonged to Ukraine, after the pro Russian president, Viktor Yanukovych, was ousted from the Ukrainian presidential office. The people of Crimea were outraged; they had voted heavily in favor of him and following his removal they thought Yanukovych had been made a victim of a coup. In response, president
Stereotypes Of Domestic Violence
One of the major efforts of the domestic violence movement, from the beginning, has been to debunk commonly believed stereotypes and myths about domestic violence. This is important because an accurate awareness of the issue cannot occur within society if the general public believes that domestic violence is a problem that only affects certain groups of people and is therefore not in need of attention since it is not that common. In addition, one of the easiest ways to acquire an overall understanding of the basic elements of domestic violenceis to debunk commonly believed stereotypes. For example, it is commonly believed that domestic violenceonly affects certain populations. As mentioned above, domestic violence occurs across all cultures, religions, ethnicities, income levels, sexual orientations, age groups, and education levels. Another myth is that domestic violence is not a common or serious problem when in fact, in the United States, a woman is battered every 9 seconds (NCVC, 2008). Another myth is that domestic violence is caused by substance abuse. In fact, many batterers abuse alcohol or drugs, but it is not an excuse for their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact is that it is often very difficult for an abuse victim to end the relationship. Victims stay with the batterer for many reasons, including but not limited to economic constraints, child issues, fear, and intimidation. People also assume that as soon as a victim leaves her abuser, she is safe. In reality, abuse victims are in the most danger after the relationship has ended. Another commonly accepted myth is that battering incidents are isolated behaviors. In reality, batterers use a cycle of power and control to keep their partner in the relationship. Abuse rarely happens just once. It can happen often, or only once a year, but most physical violence continues to escalate and happens more often as the relationship
