Still I Rise Maya Angelou The poem Still I Rise written by American author Maya Angelou is written from the perspective of Maya herself. She is speaking to her audience of oppressors about how she has overcome racism, criticism, sexism, and personal obstacles in her life with pride and grace. It describes her personal struggle through life and how she managed to pull through and how she will continue on her life journey. This poem is historically rooted with mentions of slavery, a past of pain and gifts of ancestors ; she is however speaking in the present and how she is embarking on a new journey. Throughout this poem we are introduced to various themes and symbols, a strong symbol being the rising of the dust . Dust only rises... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This poem is more than any ordinary poem as Maya interacts with her audience; she describes the highs and lows of her life and history. I enjoyed reading this poem as it brought about a sense of justice and it has opened my mind to what other countries can truly be like. I myself have experienced emotions that Maya herself has felt, last year my grandmother passed away. It was the first time in my life where I had lost a loved one. It was a strange and horrible experience that I will never forget. It knocked me down and it took some time before I was able to stand on my own two feet again. The fact that I know she is in a better place know motivates me to live my life to the fullest. I am lucky that I will never experience the racism, discrimination, sexism all the other negative obstacles that have affected her life. I am blessed to have been brought up in such a beautiful country, with such a loving family. Maya has portrayed her life in a poem, it is inspiring and she has risen from the ground to live a successful
The Theory Of Algebraic Semi Rings
ON BORNOLOGICAL SEMI RINGS
ANWAR N. IMRAN
Abstract. Our main focus in this work is to generalizes the theory of algebraic semi ring from the algebraic setting to the framework of bornological set. More specifically, the concept of new structure bornological semi ring BSR is introduced and the fundamental constructions in the class of bornological semi rings are discussed. In particular, the existence of arbitrary projective limits and arbitrary inductive limits of bornological semi ring is ensured. Additionally, the description of the category of bornological semi rings is presented and we study the product, coproduct and fiber product. Key words: Bornological Set, Bornological Ring.
1. Introduction
The notion of a bounded subset of (real or complex) topological vector space was introduces by von Neamann. That motivated the definition and more general classes bounded sets and called bornologies. A bornological space is a type of space in functional analysis and it is very useful to solve problem of boundedness for set of elements and functions. That means, the main goal for bornology is to determine the boundedness, location and sitting the boundary for any area. A bornology on a set X is a family β of subsets of X, such that; Every singleton set fxg is in β, that means, β covering X ; If A B, B 2 β then A 2 β; β is stable under finite union. The elements of β are called bounded subsets of X. Let X and Y be two bornological sets, a map f : X ! Y is called bounded if
Poetry Comparison Essay
Poetry Comparison There have been many wars throughout time. Most people learn the facts through: papers, films, books or poems, but I am comparing two similar poems which have different meanings. Wilfred Owen who wrote the poem Dulce et Decorum est or Lord Alfred Tennyson who wrote The Charge of the Light Brigade . They are both based around the theme of war. Lord Alfred Tennyson is pro war and thinks it s a good thing to die for your country. His poem was written to memorialise the Battle of Balaclava in the Crimean war (1854 56) he wrote it ten years later, on: April 10th 1864. He was born in 1809 and died at the age of 83 in 1892. Wilfred Owen is against war and he writes about the First... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The soldiers are getting defeated But limped on, blood shod. All went lame, all blind in this line Owen has used metaphors and repetition to make the soldier s movements stand out and shows they are injured and have got blood on there shoes. Owen wants the reader to picture this in your mind with the verbs he has used coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge shows they are choking on the gas and smoke but slowly and angrily carry on to battle. The use of repetition emphasises exactly how he felt and what he saw, All went lame; all blind it makes it stand out how tired and injured the soldier s really are from Owens view. The rhythm of stanza one is made by the ten syllables per line, which gives the effect that the soldiers are marching. The rhythm has changed, there s now a gas attack and the soldiers are shouting and rushing trying to get there masks on in time Gas! GAS! Quick, boys! An ecstasy of fumbling . Owen then wants the reader to picture this so uses caesuras and exclamation marks to emphasise exactly what s happening and this makes you imagine the soldiers in a sudden rush for the masks. Then Owen describes the gas attack as being under water as under a green sea this suggests Owen wants you to imagine the movements the
The Waste Of Municipal Solid Waste
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle has been the mantra of administrations and environmentalists since the early 1970 s and is as relevant now as it was then. Household recycling behaviors have become a common strategy for the diversion of municipal solid waste (MSW) from landfills and energy recovery plants (ERP). Although many, if not most, residences engage in at least some recyclingbehaviors significant amounts of trash reaching landfills and ERPs could have been recycled. There exists a wealth of research regarding how and why the populace engages in recycling and what potential barriers result in a high percentage of recyclables reaching landfills and ERPs. It is the position of the author that one significant barrier is a lack of current educational initiatives presented to household recyclers at regular intervals. For example, the recycling industry recently gained the ability to facilitate used pizza boxes. A quick anecdotal sample of my immediate neighbors found that they were still discarding these items with their MSW. The ambition of this research is to identify practical, cost effective, methods to keep residential recyclers informed of current recycling abilities. The research seeks to investigate the result of directly applying informational placards on residential recycling. Will the increased and readily available information and instructions lead to higher recycling rates and greater diversion of recyclables from MSW? By applying the treatment to
Symbolism In The Necklace
The Necklace was a short story written by French writer Guy de Maupassant in the late nineteenth century, which was a period of time where the literary movements naturalism and realism were frequently used in French literature. The short story shows how greed and wealth can change a personality and affect their lifestyles. Throughout The Necklace, Maupassant aims to show the conflicts between the lower and upper classes, and how their desires may vary. This essay will discuss how Maupassant uses social context, symbolism, literary devices and his characters demonstrate his misogynistic viewpoints.

Her husband manages to get an invitation to one of the wealthy parties that she longs to attend, but when she refuses, saying she has nothing to wear, he helps her purchase an expensive dress. Mathilde borrows an extravagant diamond necklace from her friend Madame Forestier. Madame Loisel has a wonderful time at the party, but afterwards discovers the diamond necklace is lost. The couple spend their inheritance and take out loans to replace it. After years of living in poverty and debt that ruins Mathilde s looks. Mathilde runs into Madame Forestier, to whom she confesses the whole story. Madame Forestier tells her that the necklace was a fake.
Maupassant s misogynistic portrayal of women is evident through Madame Loisel s superficial and materialistic nature. This is demonstrated when Monsieur Loisel tries to convince his wife to go to the party. But, she declines again, saying, She was not convinced. No. There s nothing so humiliating as to look poor when you re with women who are rich. The declarative, she was not convinced shows that she isn t satisfied with her husband s suggestion to wear a posy, because she does not want to diminish her beauty by wearing something that only people from the middle class would wear. Her husband s
Transport Systems And Transportation Systems
Introduction Cities are places which have huge amount of gathering of people, collection of economic activities and complex infrastructure for people which all together are supported by transport systems. Traditionally, the focus of transport system has been on passengers as cities were looked as locations of maximum human interactions with each other with intricate traffic patterns linked to commuting, commercial transactions and cultural/leisure activities. But today, cities are also place of production, consumption and distribution, due to which the focus of transport system has also got redefined. In a larger city, the complexity of transportation increases manifolds because of the modes involved, the large number of origins and destinations, the amount and variety of traffic and the possibility of interference, particularly when this complexity is not managed effectively. As quoted by Rodrigue, J P (2013), the most important transport problems are often related to urban areas and take place where transport systems fails to satisfy the various requirements of urban mobility because of several reasons. Productivity of any urban area is highly dependent on its transport system and also its efficiency to regulate goods, workers and consumers between multiple origins and destinations . Objective The objective of this paper is to understand the modes of road transportation, the role of road transportation in urban areas, the role of transportation infrastructure in
Augustine Of Hippo Beliefs
Augustine of Hippo was a Christian scholar who focused mainly on western Christianity and philosophy. After being a part of many different religions, including Manichaeism and Platonism, he converted to Christianity and started making philosophical discoveries within the religion. Throughout his life, Augustine of Hippohad many great ideas as well as some questioning ones, all of which described his view on life and religion and everything in between. In my opinion, Augustine s most interesting ideas were those on original sin and predestination since he seemed to put much though into these throughout the course of his life. Augustine s most questionable ideas were those on marriage and relationships since his thoughts seemed to be very different than those of his time as well as him not being able to stick to just one idea and instead switching his practice multiple times throughout his life.... During his life, Augustine was a part of many different religious groups and thus struggled with which one was correct and why. He took all different perspectives into account before forming his own thoughts and ideas on and would alter his opinion based on new information he received. Augustine argued that all humans were influenced by this original sin and would therefore follow in the example set by them. Augustine believed that original sin was evident in everyone and they all needed to fight the urge to sin, yet when Augustine was a boy, he used to steal pears from an orchard that was nearby just for the fun of doing something he should not. He said this experience made him feel how he imagined Adam
Essay On Program Evaluation
Program Evaluation The Educational Leadership and Policy Studies program at the University of Texas at Arlington has helped me to grow both personally and professionally. The top three take aways from this program that I feel can be utilized in any career path include the knowledge I gained on how to conduct and present action research, the writing skillset I developed which aided me in becoming a better writer, and the training I received on how to be an effective leader. At the beginning of this program I expected to learn how to be a principal. However, during the process I realized I learned much more. For example, I learned how to lead using content knowledgeand interpersonal skills in order to create lasting and effective... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These chats should include a moderator who is a current and experienced administrator within a school district. Online chats would be an excellent way to make connections and/or friendships with people who will be impacting the future of education. Lastly, I believe that students would benefit from conducting an action research project in a group versus completing a project alone. During our program we learned about allowing for different formats during assessment or classroom activities. Therefore, I believe that some students may have preferred working with a group on such a significant project. The fact that students would be allowed to work with people from different backgrounds and with different personality types to complete a project would equate with real world experience. The opportunity to work with people is why the practicum is such a valuable experience. However, one cannot carefully evaluate the practicum for this program without a brief discussion about mentors. The mentor I chose for this program was approachable and generous with her time and knowledge. I felt comfortable enough to ask questions or admit mistakes in order to learn. At the onset of the practicum my mentor was just my boss. At the end of the practicum I esteemed her as a colleague and friend. I believe that I was able to experience so much during the
Glisten Essay
I decided to choose my subject by walking around the museum and seeing which one called to me. I chose Glisten (1972) by Sam Gilliam because the bright colors grabbed me as soon as I saw it and a feeling of happiness washed over me. Sam Gilliam (b. 1933) is a very well known African American painter, innovative for his use of three dimensional canvases (University of Kentucky), who is a part of the American Abstract Artists group, as well as many other movements, such as the Washington Color Fieldmovement (Malyon). Glisten is a 27 x 73 15/16 x 3 acrylic on canvas 3 dimensional artwork (University of Kentucky).

The colors have a mostly high value and equally low and high saturation. Seeing as this is a non representational piece of art, I can only say local color is being used. Though it s safe to say no color goes unused in this work, I notice a lot of usage of blues/purples, reds, and yellows. I believe he uses these colors to convey the message he is sending. The color gives the painting a lot of emotion, as if you re looking at a sad mood turn into a bright happy one. In addition to its emotional effect, I can visualize the bright yellow at the top of the painting representing the sun. I can gather this from the title, as if the sun s yellow rays are glistening on the blue hues below, possibly water. The color scheme of the painting looks as if it s somewhere along the lines of complementary and analogous. The colors contrast each other, but also compliment them in a very specific way. It is very clear with the splashes of red on the blue down in the bottom left corner. This work has a very open palette, as you can tell by the usage of many colors. The color is very expressionistic. The intentional variation of the color speaks volumes of the mood being portrayed. When standing in front of the painting, the dominating warm colors seem to disregard the sad blues and purples, giving the observer a happy, peaceful feeling. I would imagine looking at the

Doctor-Patient Relationship
A patient signed an arbitration agreement before he say the doctor for his surgery and the surgery went bad and the patient filed for compensation due to effects from the wrong doings of the doctor. The court ruled that the arbitration agreement could not be upheld. This case shows what could result in someone not being able to read legal papers before they sign or not knowing they have the right to not sign said paperwork. The majority opinion for this case is correct. the wording on the arbitration agreement was one reason as well as the fact that a doctor patient relationship was present when Mr. King signed said agreement. Also, there are many cases that help to support the majority opinion. The plaintiffs, Robert E. King and his wife... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... the North Carolina law Koufman v. Koufman, 330 N.C. 93, 97, 408 S.E.2d 590,731 (1991) details why the appeals haven t changed the findings. the defendants do, however, argue that the facts found fail to result in the conclusion given based off Carolina Power Light Co. v. City of Asheville, 358 N.C. 512, 517, 597 S.E.2d 717, 721 (2004). Because of that the court decided it will review the defendants challenges using a de novo standard of review. The court ended up saying the result will be based off whether a relationship was present when Mr. King signed the arbitration agreement. However, they don t think it was properly looked at based off a doctor patient relationship. The court had decided to look at it to see if there was a fiduciary relationship present when Mr. King signed the arbitration agreement. The court went on to say that in order for there to be a breach of fiduciary, that relationship had to be present first. The court then mentions that Mr. King went to Dr. Bryant because of Dr. Bryant s Knowledge in the surgical area needed to repair Mr.
