The Feminist Movement During The Romantic Era
During the Romantic Era, gender roles were already set in stone. Women were expected to do certain things, as were men, and they only did such. These clear standards were held very highly in society, however, as many people felt obligated to society to continue with these standards, there were always people who had a different opinion. Women such as Mary Wollstonecraft identified men as the root cause for the need of a change in society. In contrast there were women like Anna Letitia Barbauld who felt that if women truly loved their husban,d, being an equal gendershould not matter. These two approaches, although very different, made up the beginning of the feminist movement during this era. Women were expected to basically be merely an object, even a trophy for their husbands. They were expected to stay home and clean, as well as cook. With all these expected tasks, women hardly had any time to branch out and figure out what they wanted to do with their life. They had no time for leisure activities of any kind because, of course, their activities involved taking care of the house. Women were also seen as the weaker sex, always submissive to their dominant male counterpart. Although the women were submissive, they were held to a higher moral standard. Adultery was twice shamed upon if committed by a woman rather than a man. (Hughes par.3) A woman could be stoned to death, but people would turn their cheek for a man while the woman still was expected to stay beside the man.
The Impact Of Corruption In Mexico
Mexico is the eleventh most populated country in the world with a $2.2 trillion economy (CIA, 2017). It is also an extremely popular tourist destination for Americans and Europeans alike. Moreover, its people have had the highest average annual hours worked in the world every year for the last three years (OECD, 2017). Despite this, their unemployment rate is estimated to be 3.6% and their underemployment at 25% (CIA, 2017). I am going to expand on this country s issues with corruption, organized crime, violence, the economy, and how I assess their future will affects us here in the United States. Like many countries in turmoil, corruption is and has been a big part of Mexico s political scene, especially with domestic criminal organizations such as the drug cartels. Mexico s politicians have not only stolen public funds but they have also made complicit agreements with multiple drug cartels. Mexico ranks No. 123 in Transparency Internationals 2016 Corruption Perception Index, 25 spots lower than the year before. Analysts say it s unclear whether corruption has gotten worse or has merely become more visible because of transparency laws, journalists increasingly uncovering graft and social media exposing politicians excesses (Agren, 2017). In recent years there have been multiple Mexican politicians prosecuted and arrested due to their illegal dealings but the cycle just continues with their successors. Take Javier Duarte for example, who was the governor of Veracruz State from 2010 to 2016 and managed to steal $3 billion from public funds meanwhile violence spread throughout the state. The violence was so severe that mass graves with 250 skulls were discovered and at least 17 journalists were murdered during his tenure (Agren, 2017). Additionally, the two former Tamaulipas State governors were both indicted for their involvement in illicit activities. The former governor, Tomás Yarrington, was accused of taking bribes from both the Zetas Cartel and the Gulf Cartel; meanwhile in 2015 his successor, Eugenio Hernández, was indicted in Texas on federal money laundering charges (Agren, 2017). The terrible byproduct of this was on full display a little under 3 years ago when the bodies of 43 missing students
Graduation Speech At Utah Valley University
Ever since I could remember my parents told me that college was key to being successful in life, if you didn t attend a good college your life was most likely not going to be a very happy one. This message stay throughout my life , education was of great importance and college was the key factor of where you ended up in life. High schoolcounselors, teachers, parents, and mentors all emphasized that the better the collegeyou attend the more opportunities you ll have. Being a high school senior and having to think seriously about the future now, I applied for many schools and landed at Utah Valley University, a great feeder school for Brigham Young University. I attended Utah Valley University for 1 semester and I really enjoyed many aspects of going to a university but decided to go back home to orange county and attend a community college instead, Coastline Community College. I have so far been enrolled at coastline for about a month and can see the likenesses and the differences between the university life and the community college life. I can see no college is alike, and that doesn t mean one college is better than another. It took transferring to a community college to see that not even a university is better than a community college.
Utah Valley University and Coastline Community College, weren t the same type of school but actually had quite a bit of similarities. For instance, both Utah Valley and Coastline are well known for being great feeder schools to
Enslaving Nature of Love Exposed
Enslaving Nature of Love Exposed in Lucretius
In Dryden s Lucretius, the speaker argues that (1) Love is a sickness, (2) Love s sickness enslaves, and (3) all attempts to remedy Love s sickness are vain and will only frustrate the lover. Just as Milton s Adam and Eve become enslaved to sin by disobeying God, so mankind becomes enslaved to Love when pierced with Cupid s winged arrow . In Milton, there is redemption and freedom through Christ, but in Dryden, no salvation from love is possible. This poem leaves mankind in a hopeless, frustrated state, unable to break free from love s yoke. This essay will center on the last heroic couplet: All wayes they try, successeless all they prove,/To cure the secret sore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poem argues that love is not only a sickness, but also as a form of enslavement.
The couplet argues that All the wayes they try, successeless all they prove implies that these lovers are trapped, and cannot satisfy love s demands. This enslavement idea is further proved upon examining the method by which a person falls in love: From whence he first was struck, he thither tends; Restless he roams, impatient to be freed . The lover is described as impatient to be freed which implies that he is not free, but instead a victim, struck by a Fiery dart , and now is cursed with an endless appetite for love. The lover is a slave seeking satisfaction, but never finding it: Hence thirst and hunger may be satisfi d,/But this repletion is to Love deny d . Once a person is struck with Cupid s arrow, enslavement begins and Love with fantomes cheats our longing eyes,/Which hourly seeing never satisfies . Love s enslavement not only makes all attempts to break free fruitless, but also makes the frustrates the lover. In the enslaved state, the lovers tries to satisfy love s demands, eager to inject the sprightly seed but All the wayes they try , the lovers fail. Even though this poem is all about how love enslaves, the speaker ironically offers remedies. The speaker argues
Amy Cuddy Ted Talk Video Analysis
I found the Amy Cuddy Ted Talk as a very interesting video. It goes into great detail on different ways to communicate with other people more efficiently. The main spect she focused on was body language, she stated it should be more than half of what you focus on in communicating. I never knew how important body language is to communication, I always thoughtyour voice and tone is the most important part of communication. But it turns out body language actually has a greater impact in speaking with others and can help with a person s energy and confidence. There are many different types of body language that can help improve someone s energy and confidence. This can be from the way someone walks, stands, sitting position, and the hand motions
Activated Alumina Research Paper
Silica Gel Silica gel is silicon dioxide (SiO2) manufactured as small round beads with a large pore surface area (Figure 19). The water contained in the gas vapor is adsorbed by the desiccant at relatively low temperatures. Silica gel is 97% silica and 3% alumina with a porous surface and strong adsorbing qualities. Silica gel fractures in the presence of liquid water, so it is important to separate the liquid and gas ahead of a silica gel desiccant unit. Some manufacturers use a pre bed of activated alumina to protect the silica gel from water droplets that may enter the dryer. In air and gas drying applications, dew points of 40°C ( 40°F) and lower can be achieved with silica gel. Figure 19 Silica gel desiccant beads. Activated Alumina... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Activated alumina has many applications, including compressed air and gas drying. Figure 20 Activated alumina desiccant beads. In compressed air and gas drying applications, activated alumina achieves dew points of 40°C to 73°C ( 40°F to 100°F), depending on the dryer design. In compressed air desiccant dryers, a 3.2 mm (1/8 in) activated alumina bead is common. The 6.4 mm (1/4 in) activated alumina bead is typically used as a pre bed for supporting large desiccant beds or as a buffer for silica gel beds. Molecular Sieve Dehydration Molecular sieves adsorb the highest amount of water, produce the lowest water dew points and sweeten (remove hydrogen sulfide) and dry the natural gas. Molecular sieves are adsorbents made up of aluminosilicate crystalline polymers (zeolite) that remove components such as the following:
Aquifix Injection
It was noted in preliminary trials that the Aquifix injection produced side effects such as sodium concentrations in blood plasma increased, and one of the preservatives has been linked to stimulation of the adrenal glands. The interrelationships between the hypothalamus, pituitary, and adrenal glands create the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis (HPA axis) which is responsible for controlling the body s reaction to stress, and regulating many of the body s processes (Greenwood et al., 2013). The stress response is triggered through sympathetic stimulation of the central medulla region of the adrenal glands.

As a result, blood glucose levels elevate due to the liver converting glycogen to glucose (glycogenolysis), blood vessels constrict (vasoconstriction), and the heart rate rises to increase blood flow to muscles, brain, and heart while diverting blood from temporarily nonessential organs (Marieb Nicpon Marieb, 1997). These physiological changes aid in operating at peak efficiency when endangered, competing, or whenever a high level of performance is required which is not usually negative in short periods (eg. 20mins). When the fight or flight status is prolonged, complications arise, thus creating an issue with prolonged or over use of the Aquifix injection. Unequal amounts of two hormones, epinephrine and norepinephrine, are released. Epinephrine is the more potent stimulator of the heart and metabolic activities, while norepinephrine influences more on the peripheral vasoconstriction (blood pressure) (Marieb Nicpon Marieb, 1997). Prolonged overstimulation of the adrenal glands results in the release of their steroid hormones; glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids from the outer cortex of the adrenals. The secretion of mineralocorticoids, in particular aldosterone result in the retention of sodium and water by the kidneys, and increased blood pressure and volume, while glucocorticoids secreting result in an increased blood glucose level, while fats and proteins (from muscles) are broken down for energy, thus giving reasoning for some of the side effects produced by the Aquifix
How To Write A Narrative Report On Brandy
On 08/01/2017 I, Deputy Daniel Pruitt was patrolling the area of 61st Street 61st West Avenue. I noticed a white female walking Eastbound on 61st Street towards 61st West Avenue. The female later identified as Brandy Bunch appeared nervous and kept looking back towards me. I activated my emergency lights to do a pedestrian check. I asked Brandy for her I. D and had dispatch to run a records check on Brandy. Dispatch advised Brandy was clear of any warrants. I asked Brandy if she had anything illegal on her and Brandy stated no. Brandy was very nervous and would not look towards me while I was speaking to her. Brandy became more nervous after I asked if she had anything illegal on her. I asked Brandy if I could search her purse she had with her. Brandy handed me her purse and advised I could search the purse.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I located a white bag with the letter B on the bag. Brandy pointed to the bag after I asked if she had any drugs in the purse. I located inside the bag a clear small baggie with a crystal substance inside. i also located 3 small plastic straws with a clear crystal substance on the straws. I located a green bandanna with a glass smoking pipe with residue on the pipe inside the bandanna. Brandy said she was using meth fir the past three years and just used meth on 07/31/2017. I field tested the crystal substance Nark II test kit. The crystal substance tested positive for Methamphetamine. I seized all the the items as evidence and will send the crystal substance and straws for further testing with OSBI. The crystal substance weight 0.7 grams. I issued Brandy two citations for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cds. Brandy was then was released from the
