The History Boys Movie Review

The comedy in The History Boys centres around opposition created by the two teachers Hector and Irwin. Comedy is created through clear contrasts in personalities, and teaching methods. Bennett makes use of this opposition in order to display society s norms, values and views on education. Additionally, comedy is created because the opposition creates clashes between the two teachers therefore creating conflict. During the 1980s, educationwas in a state of change. Traditional values of order and discipline were being challenged by more progressive methods . Therefore, when corporal punishments were banned in 1987, teachers like Hector faced difficulties and hardship because old school teachers [were] unable to control their classes . However, Irwin who is more contemporary and does not have to adapt to change his teachingmethods to suit the educational reformation taking place. The contrasts create comedy because Bennett uses it to mocking the conflicting ideas.

Comedy is created though oppositions in personality. Hector has an eccentric and a rather optimistic personality, which differs to Irwin s intellectual and ambitious personality. Hector is the long time English master and Irwin is a very young supply teacher. Both teachers crave the boys attention and approval. The differences in personalities create comedy because it entertains the audience and makes them express amusement as the collision of personalities leads to the teachers competing for the boys

Robust Video Data Hiding Using Forbidden Zone Data Hiding and Selective Embedding Ersin Esen and A. Aydin Alatan, Member, IEEE

Abstract Video data hiding is still an important research topic due to the design complexities involved. We propose a new video data hiding method that makes use of erasure correction capa bility of repeat accumulate codes and superiority of forbidden zone data hiding. Selective embedding is utilized in the proposed method to determine host signal samples suitable for data hiding. This method also contains a temporal synchronization scheme in order to withstand frame drop ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

They applied quantization index modulation (QIM) to low frequency DCT coefficients and adapted the quantization parameter based on MPEG 2 parameters. Furthermore, they varied the embedding rate depending on the type of the frame. As a result, insertions and erasures occur at the decoder, which causes de synchronization. They utilized repeat accumulate (RA) codes in order to withstand erasures. Since they adapted the parameters according to type of frame, each frame is processed separately. RA codes are already applied in image data hiding. In [3], adaptive block selection results in de synchronization and they utilized RA codes to handle erasures. Insertions and erasures can be also handled by convolutional codes as in [4]. The authors used convolutional codes at embedder. However, the burden is placed on the decoder. Multiple parallel Viterbi decoders are used to correct de synchronization errors. However, it is observed [4] that such a scheme is successful when the number of selected host signal samples is much less than the total number of host signal samples. In [5], 3 D DWT domain is used to hide data. They use LL subband coefficients and do not perform any adaptive selec tion. Therefore, they do not use error correction codes robust to erasures. Instead, they use BCH code to increase error correction capability. The authors performed 3 D interleaving in order to get rid of local burst of errors.

Bacterial Diversity Lab

Introduction

In effort to show that I know the topic of the lab that I missed, I must write a 1200 word paper on bacterial diversity. To write a paper on bacterial diversity I must define what bacterial diversity is, according to the lab manual prokaryotic, unicellular organisms are represented by two biological kingdoms: archaebacterial and eubacteria. Their cells are typically quite small, and lack complex, membrane bound organelles. The few non membrane bound organelles that prokaryotic cells do have are different in size and /or structure than those of eukaryotic cells (2017) in addition to the lab manual classification of bacterial cells comes down to the bacterial cells colonies. According to our text book (essentials of the living ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Some of the more common colors for bacterial pigmentation would be yellow, brown, red, and white. Bacteria that have a yellow pigmentation would be micrococcus luteus. Along with yellow pigmentation, staphylococcus aureus has a brown color to its colonies. Serratia marcescens has a red colony pigmentation. Colonies that have a white pigmentation are also known to be non pigmented like that of the staphylococcus epidermidis colonies.

Bacterial Surface Bacterial colonies are frequently shiny and smooth in appearance, E.coli would be one example of a bacteria with a shiny and smooth appearance. Another example of a bacterial surface would be that of dull appearance that shown in bacillus subtilis.

Essay On Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism is a disease where the thyroid does not make the accurate amount of hormones. If a person has Hypothyroidism they might encounter constipated, fatigue, weight gain, thinning hair, skin dryness, and or hoarseness of the voice. Peripheral neuropathy might occur after a constant untreated Hypothyroidism. The relationship is not really clear. Hypothyroidism can cause edema. MacKay sims and Beard think Peripheral neuropathy may be a cause of olfactory disorders. Thyroxine is necessary for normal development of the Nervous System including the make of new olfactory receptor neuron. Hypothyroidism ruins the growth of the olfactory epithelium. Olfactory disorders are commonly caused by upper respiratory tract infections. The first group was from ages 24 to 66 years old without hypothyroidism or any smelling problems. The second group was comprised of people ages 21 to 71 with hypothyroidism. All subjects went through a subjective smell awareness test that included mint and anise and objective olfactory test. In each subject symptoms of hypothyroidism were tested. The results were average of 85% of the cases. Furthermore the differences were in the objective test. MacKay sims and Beard last thoughts was reportedly of cortex s ability to irritate of olfactory nerves gives chances for use in clinical practice. My opinion of this article is that I could assume that hypothyroidism would affect the smell simply because a large cartilage of the throat is the thyroid gland and it is all works together. I felt this would be an interesting article to read because my god mom has

Cullen s Incident, Racism, Incident

In the poem Incident , Cullen recounts his encounter with another similarly aged boy that left him desolated with a reflective, outraged, and sad tone. Cullen writes, in regard to the other Baltimorean boy, And he was no whit bigger, / And so I smiled, which proves he viewed the boy as an equal before the unfortunate experience to follow. He also writes about how, prior to meeting the boy, he was Heart filled, head filled with glee, highlighting the contrast between his emotions. He initially felt excited to be in the city; however, the encounter brought forth disappointments that would, unfortunately, enlighten him of the racismof the early 1900s. Concerning the actual incident, Cullen is very straightforward as he documents the exact

The Joy Luck Club Themes

In the film The Joy Luck Club , author Amy Tan clearly demonstrates various different themes throughout her work. The film itself is truly compelling. Tan shows how discrimination can take control of an individual s life. Amy Tan amazingly showed her audience the struggles that took place and she creatively crafted her life into an amazing film. . Moreover, the women in The Joy Luck Clubexperienced discrimination in their own country and from their own people. Identically, the characters also encountered the same challenges in a completely different country and from a completely different origin of people. Furthermore, many of their struggles began in China and later followed them to America. Notably, many of these examples of discrimination and prejudice shown throughout the film can also tie with feminism. One reason being that majority of Chinese women faced a number of struggles and were eager to overcome them. In one case, discrimination was the number one aspect to wrecking homes. For example, because of discrimination within families, family members were often affected, evidently as time went on family relationships strengthened. All in all, from watching The Joy Luck Club film, I learned that discrimination came in many ways; men vs women, women vs women, and Americans vs Chinese
