The Economic Status Of Young People

The youth is one of the most vulnerable groups in the labour market. The economic status of young people has declined significantly over the past two decades, despite a variety of programs designed to aid new workers in the transition from the classroom to the job market. Young people have a great impact on economic growth and productivity. It also costs governments and society at large a lot of money, both currently in terms of higher unemployment benefits and lost tax revenue and flow into the future through long term reduced productivity and earnings. Last but not least, being young and unemployed can lead to increase in the risk of poverty, deskilling and social exclusion as well as cause loss of motivation and mental health problems. Fresh graduates lacking experience often find themselves trapped in a vicious cycle. They often lack the experience needed to fill a job opening, which prevents them from getting employed. Thus, the job searching period for them becomes considerably longer than for experienced workers and harms their future work prospects (Vena Nedeljkovic, 2014, para. 2). So, there are two solutions that are the best in solving the issue: apprenticeship and entrepreneurship. The first feasible solution is apprenticeship. It consists of a combination of on the job training, contributions by apprentices to production, and classroom instruction, leading to a valued occupational credential. They could be run either by private entities, the Department of

Property Law Questions

There are two distinct types of property: real property and personal property. Real property is land and buildings on land. Examples of real property include houses and apartments. Personal property are valuable items that are not attached to a piece of land. Personal property includes items such as furniture, jewelry, computers, and clothing. (Sprankling, 2012)

Eminent domain is the legally permitted takeing of private property for public purposes (Kerekes, 2011). While I was living in Arizona, an eminent domain issues was actually voted on in the city of Mesa. The city of Mesa wanted to improve the overall value of the downtown area by demolishing some old neighborhoods and building a sports and aquatic center instead. The people voted for the demolishing, so all of the home owners were paid fair market value for their homes and required to move. Adverse possession is a method of gaining legal title to real property by the actual, open, hostile, and continuous possession of it to the exclusion of its true owner for the period prescribed by state law. (West s Encyclopedia of American Law, edition 2). The elements of adverse possession are: Actual possession, hostile to the owners, continuous possession, and for the prescribed statutory time. With regard to the current foreclosure crises, it has forced the banks to ensure timely foreclosure actions taken on all properties to prevent any encroaches (Urban, 2013).

Challenges to biodiversity conservation and associated ecosystem functions

Word Count: 2,821

1.Introduction

As defined by the Convention of Biological Diversity (CBD) biodiversity is the variability among living organisms from all sources including, inter alia, terrestrial, marine and other aquatic ecosystems and ecological complexes of which they are not part, diversity within species and of ecosystems (IUCN, 2000). The continued growth of human populations and per capita consumption have resulted in unsustainable exploitation of the Earth s biological diversity, exacerbated by climate change, ocean acidification and other anthropogenic environmental impacts. The ecosystems exploited, provide essential services, including material goods such as food and timber; cultural and recreational benefits as well as providing other functions necessary for climate regulation, flood control and nutrient cycling. The key pressures to biodiversity loss are overexploitation, invasive alien species, pollution, climate change and the degradation and fragmentation of habitats. However, there are many challenges that effect the management of these pressures as a result of social and economic needs and as a result, further scientific research is required in order to best identify the distribution and appropriate management schemes for different areas.

Globally, the efforts to reduce anthropogenic impacts on ecosystems have been addressed by the United Nations CBD. The goal of reducing

Distinguish Between Developed and Developing Countries

3a) What distinguishes a developing country from a developed country (10mks)

ADVICE: All the indicators are examined here with supporting statistics. There won t be time to include statistics for all the indicators, so you ll include those that you most easily remember).

Countries can be classified as developed or developing according to the value of the gross national product (GNP) per capita. A developing countrycan be distinguished from a developed country by examining indicators such as the size of GDP per capita, economic structure, population growth, population structure, distribution of income, employment, trading position, urbanization, technology and provision of infrastructure.

Low income and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Developing countries are very reliant on the export of primary produce whereas developed countries export more capital and consumer goods. Developing countries are vulnerable in their trading relationships because fluctuations in price can destabilize their economies. Zimbabwe s main exports are cotton and tobacco while that of the USA includes telecommunications, equipment, automobiles and medicine.

Urbanisation is another indicator of development. Developed countries already have a high proportion of the population living in urban areas. The developing countries however still have a high proportion of the population living in rural areas, but there are rapid rates of rural to urban migration in those economies. In Zimbabwe 38% of the population live in urban areas and the rate of urbanization is 3.4%. In the USA however 82% of the population live in the urban areas and the rate of urbanization is much lower at 1.2%.

They can be distinguished by the provision of infrastructure. Infrastructure includes health education and housing. The developed countries have better infrastructure than the developed country. The Human Development Index combines elements of health as measured by life expectancy, education and income to assess development. Life expectancy in Zimbabwe is 51 years whereas it is 78 years in the USA.

Access to technology also differs between the two. 5% of the world s computers are located in developing countries.

Why Citizen Kane is the Best Movie Ever Made Essay

The debate over Casablanca and Citizen Kane has been a classic argument between film critics and historians alike, and this is because both of these pieces are timeless pictures that have managed to captivate audiences well after their era. On a broad spectrum analysis this is an apples and oranges debate as the two films both have great cinematographic value but for different reasons. However, the real question at hand is which film is the greatest? Which film transformed the future of American film making? It is these questions that I as many others have, will attempt to answer in the following essay as I explain why I believe Citizen Kaneis the greatest film ever made.

Citizen Kane was produced, co written, directed, and lead acted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Editor Robert Wise was said to have blended 127 different clips of film into the newsreel, some of which were actual news footage while the others were staged shots of the actors. Later Welles was said to have aged these by dragging the negatives across a concrete floor.

In the closing of the newsreel we find ourselves in a room full of highly shadowed journalists, with little to no recognizable faces. Reporter Jerry Thompson is directed by his editor to pursue ominous feel as we are slowly taken closer to Kane s mansion and are shown a lite window which fades to black, and snowflakes suddenly fill the screen. As the camera pulls back, a snow covered cabin comes into view. The camera pulls back more quickly to show that what we have been looking at is actually just a scene inside a snow globe in the hand of an old man. The story of Kane s dying words and from there we are taken back to Kane s youth through the innovative use of flashbacks, which are instigated by Thompson as he meets with different people who were close to Kane.

One such flashback begins at Thatcher s building where the reporter Thompson enters an exaggeratedly large room and begins to read about Kane. This is one of the scenes in which cinematographer Greg Toland s deep focus technique of filming and use of unique lighting, in which the only light source hits

Bernard Williams declares that the proper grounds for distribution of healthcare is ill health and that this statement is a necessary truth. In this paper, I will argue that Williams is correct in believing that the distribution of medical care should be based on the ill health, but is incorrect in his assumption that this claim is in fact a necessary truth. I will begin by explaining the relevance of inequality to the question of distribution of healthcare, with the focus being on the distinction between inequality of merit and the inequality of need. I will then move on to illustrating why Williams believes that medical care should be distributed on the basis of ill health. Finally, I will explain why I believe that Williams is... One important and perhaps obvious distinction to make here is that everyone who has a need for a particular good, also desires it and everyone who has sufficient merit to receive a good may not necessarily desire it. Goods are frequently distributed in accordance with one of these two principles. For example, a university education is a good that is often acquired due to someone being in possession of adequate merit. Goods which are distributed on the basis of merit, often contain a competitive element. Forms of equality exist within this competitive realm to secure the notion of fairness; this action is referred to as the preservation of equality of opportunity. Williams articulates that, at least in theory, this aspect of the good is distributed equally, preserving just distribution, while the good itself may not be dispersed evenly. When speaking of one s right to healthcare, Williams believes that the sole appropriate factor in distribution is ill health. This belief is rooted in the notion that the inequality present in this situation is the inequality of need and that merit should not be a factor in the distributive decision making process. Williams believes that healthcare should be strictly distributed on the basis of need. This may seem like a simple claim which is obvious to the distributor and need not be analyzed further. However,

Self Awareness And Self-Knowledge In Relationships

Self awareness and self knowledge in relationships What self knowledge? It can not be bought at the price of effort or practice. Self knowledge happens by observing yourself in your relationship with your classmates, your teachers and all those around you; it happens when you observe the ways of the other, his gestures, his way of dressing, talking, contempt or flattery, and your reaction; it happens when you observe everything that is happening in you and around you and you see as clearly as you see your face in the mirror. When you look in the mirror, you see yourself as you are, is not it? You may wish to have another head having another form, with a little more hair, a less ugly face, but the facts are there, clearly reflected by the mirror, and you can not sweep them and say, That I am beautiful! If you can look in the mirror of relationship exactly as you do in an ordinary mirror, then self knowledge is endless. It s like walking into an unfathomable ocean without shores. Now we want mostly to an end, we want to be able to say, I have come to the knowledge of me and I m happy. But things are not happening as well. If you can look without condemning what you see without comparing yourself to others, without wishing to be more beautiful or more virtuous, if you can just watch what you are and continue on your way, you will discover that it is possible to go infinitely far. So the journey is endless and there is the mystery, the beauty of the thing. What is

Impacts Of The Great Depression

What was the Great Depression and what impact did it have? The Great Depression was the worst economic situation known to man. It started in the late 1920s, 1929 1939 to be exact. It was the very first severe depression ever encountered to our world. The impacts it had was that the stock market crashed harshly, there was bank failures, and the government couldn t do much about it. Its not until Franklin D. Roosevelttook charge and created a New Deal, unlike the previous president, Hubert Hoover, he let our economy be in a complete state of depression.

What caused the horrific historical event, the Great Depression? There was plenty of bank failures but the most important ones were lending money and the cause of that was that many went ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The suffering of people during the Great Depression changed the popular culture of the 1930s. Sports and amusement parks were a great way of distraction but many couldn t afford it since they were unemployed. No need to worry, those whom couldn t afford it, they would play miniature golf, softball, pinball machines, and the new board game Monopoly. The most popular distraction was listening to the radio and to the theaters. The most familiar film was The Wizard Of Oz, it was the most familiar since it was the very first movie ever filmed.

In conclusion, the 1920s 1930s were very pessimistic and it had collateral damage. It tore people apart from being unemployed to being forced to leave the country. The Great Depression is the perfect example of what we don t want to relive again. After a few years, a few decades, a few centuries, this era will still be known as it

The Oppression of the Lower Class by the California Department of Motor Vehicles

High traffic fees and fines quite often cause financial difficulties for the lower class. Transportation has become a necessity over the past one hundred years. Unfortunately with the constant improvements in vehicle technologies the cost of owning and maintaining a vehicle has constantly increased. Going hand in hand with these vehicle improvements the California Vehicle Code (CVC) has become extensive, covering every possible driving mistake with a traffic infraction. Following these changes the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has constantly grown to cover the needs of the 27 million vehicles (DMV update 1998, 3) owned in the state with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With a suspended license, the driver is forced to find another means of transportation to and from work. For some this problem may result in a driver continuing to drive, risking additional citations and larger fines. According to the Law SB 833 by Sen. Quentin Kopp, San Francisco. The Police can immediately seize and impound a vehicle involved in a traffic accident if the driver is operating the vehicle with a suspended or revoked license. (NewsBank News File, web site)

There is another way a driver can lose their license. The DMV keeps a driving record on all drivers with a running point tally, accumulating every moving violation a licensee receives. The points, either one or two are given according to the type of offense committed. Any driver accumulating four points in one year will be considered a negligent operator and may have their license suspended. Six points in two years or eight points in three years results in the same punishment. (CA DMV, web site)

With escalating fines the hypothetical driver can encounter an even greater problem trying to renew registration and have his/her suspension expunged. In the California Vehicle Code, 14911. When a notice of failure to appear or failure to pay a fine is recorded on the department records pursuant to Sections 40509 and 40509.5, the fine and any penalty assessments shall be a lien upon all vehicles of the defendant of a type

he s giving us the rope so that we ll hang ourselves. To what extent do you agree with this description of the role of the Inspector? The quotation, he s giving us the rope to hang ourselves. I think means that the Inspector will allow the family to condemn themselves by criticizing each other, instead of staying together and supporting each other. In this way, the Inspector would be able to clinch information that otherwise he would not be able to get from normal methods of interrogation. It suggests that the Inspector sets the family members against each other by partially revealing some or just parts of information. The Inspector has two main techniques of questioning; he either sparks an argument in the family, and then... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think there is a possibility that the Inspector could be Eva Smith and just goes back to haunt them. This maybe quite far fetched but I would not rule it out completely, because if it were true then it would explain everything. You feel that the Inspector knows everything already, and that by telling him, you are not giving information, but confessing to what you have done which he already knows. This makes Sheila and Eric in particular give a lot more information than is necessary to the questions that the Inspector asks. The Inspector sets up a scene, and then inserts snippets of information that two parties will both be able to individually interpret, and will reveal more than necessary. The Inspector makes the information he gives ambiguous in order to draw the largest reaction. In this way, he is able to play off their response and extract more information from them. In some aspects, Inspector s character seems to be ahead of his time. The manner in which he conducts his questioning seems to be more advanced than the way in which they are received. Also the way in which he conducts himself gives the impression of being ahead of the family that he is questioning. He also has the sensibility of someone who lived during the 1945/46, after the wars. The Inspector does not fit in with the way in which things where done during the time of this play. Priestley makes the Inspector seem ahead of his

Similarities Between Chin Dynasty And Shang Dynasty

In the history of humanity, each society has had a religion. These religions, on the surface, are different in many ways. They can range from having only one god to several major and minor gods that rule over their creations. If one looks closer, you can see that a multitude of the stories from these religions are similar. This pattern has been noticed by several researchers, causing the creation of the monomyth. To show how this theory comes into play, the religions from ancient Greece and the Shang Dynasty of China will be compared.

In China, the Shang Dynasty was around 2000 BC. This era is the earliest known period of religion in China. The Shang Dynasty had the people praying to several gods. Many of these gods were associated to one to more aspects of nature. To the people of the Shang Dynasty their religion was so important that the government ruled by what they believed was the will of the gods. One of the main gods that they followed is the Jade emperor; the first and king of the gods. While the Chinese were worshiping their gods, the people of Greece were ahead of the game worshiping the gods of Olympus. This worship is thought to have started in the 5th century BCE. The greeks had many gods, but there were twelve that ruled over the rest. These god were called the Twelve Olympians. Of these gods, Zeus, the god of storms and the sky, ruled as king. Each major and minor god had control over one or more aspect of nature. The people of greece ruled over each city

Morality Is A Big Theme Throughout The Book Les Miserables

Legality versus morality was a big theme throughout the book Les Miserables. Two of the main main characters, Javert and Jean Valjean conflict on that issue many times. Jean Valjean is a man of his morals rather than the law, whereas Javert is strictly about the law, and nothing else. Both of these characters face many legal and moral issues throughout the book. Jean Valjean looks into his morals when he is faced with a dilemma. The first time that this becomes apparent is the beginning of the book, when we learn why he is in jail. Valjean was faced with jail time because his family was struggling and starving and he thought is was morally okay to steal bread for his family even though it was illegal. Valjean stealing the bread even though it was illegal, but because his family needs it his morals say that it is okay for him to do so, showing legality versus morality . Another thing that Valjean does that demonstrate this theme is that when Javert tells Valjean(when he is mayor and going under the name of Madeleine) that someone has been caught under his name. If he decides to do nothing he will then face no legal troubles any more, but because of his morals he decides the right thing to do is to go to the court where this trail is taking place, and say that he is the real Valjean. He think it is immoral to let this man suffer for his actions, so he decides to reveal himself. Javert is the opposite of Valjean, and relies heavily on the legality side. In the
