Hand Of Fatima In Judaism

The Hand of Fatima is a popular symbol found mostly through the Middle East and North Africa. It is a symbol very popular among Jewish and Islamic faiths and resembles a literal hand with distinct variations among different cultures. For instance, the different variations include whether the hand is looking up or down and whether an eye is included in the middle of the hand. The Hand of Fatima has been around for a very long time and can be traced back to an ancient civilization called Phoenicia, where the symbol was used around 1550 330 BCE. There are also different names for the symbol. For example, Jewish communities call it the Hamsa Hand or the Hand of Miriam and in Muslim communities, it is called the Hand of Fatima. However, the meaning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The evil eye is a very old fear, which is a form of a curse that is transmitted by a look. The curse is known in many cultures to cause injury or bad luck for the person its directed at. In the Jewish community, the evil eye is when its possessor could not handle the good fortune of others, and in turn casts a curse on them. On the other hand, Islam attributes the evil eye to envy and it is cast by unintentionally looking at or praising a person for too long, particularly a child. Furthermore, the Hand of Fatima was an important defense against such a fear in both religions. Another good luck charm found in many homes is the Nazar Boncugu and also known as the Turkish evil eye. The Nazar is an eye shaped amulet believed to protect against the evil eye. The Nazar is a homemade glass blue circle with a black dot in the middle of a white oval meant to imitate an actual eye. Moreover, it is used on buildings, doors, trees, and a wide range of personal items. The Nazar is known to protects its owner from the effects of the evil eye, and also has no religious

Fashion Design

English III P.7

14 May 2013

Dripping Swag My research paper is over the career of Fashion Design. I chose this topic, because I have always had a desire to one day have my own clothing line and see other people support me by wearing my creations. Also because I like to mix different articles of clothingand create my own unique style to go out and express to the world. This paper will highlight the details about a fashion designer, like what type of education you need, skills required, the work environment, and their salaries. Fashion Design is a career where people express and use their creative ideas to create the best clothing on the market. For many of years the practice of changing the style ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Designers put so much work into their clothing. But most people don t even recognize how much detail or even what kind of material the designer uses to create the article. Often time s people just buy a certain piece of clothing because it s what everybody else is wearing and it s the new fad, they really don t respect the time and effort the designer has put into the design, even more so they buy them just for the label associated with the article of the clothing. All these things you have to understand and try to master to become successful.

Fashion Designing is a very cutthroat and limited job, so there isn t much room for new designers to get hired. One article states that, The fashion design world is highly competitive, so it s somewhat difficult, though certainly not impossible, to break into the field. In general, there are more aspiring fashion designers than there are available jobs in the field . (Vogt, Peter. Fashion Designer. ).

Employment rates are not very high, so you have to be on top of your game. According to (Vogt. Peter fashion Design ) about 17,000 people worked as Fashion Designers in the United States in 2004, and now today approximately 22,700 fashion designers are employed in the United States. ( Fashion Designers ). So there is not much change in the employment rate over the years. A person who is willing to work day in and day night and work countless

Persuasive Paper On Coaching

Introduction Coaching is a very interesting and fun job to be able to do. There are many things that come with being a coach, good and bad. Getting used to being around more people and having to teach them plays will be something new to me. Reasoning behind choosing this career path is because I used to play so I understand the game and have a strong passion for it. My career goal is to try and become one of the best coaches there is in the NFL and make others wanna play or coach. Career related information Nfl coaching does not require a lot of school. The Bureau of Labor Statistics recorded that Coaches and scouts typically need a bachelor s degree ( Coaches and Scouts ). They must also have extensive knowledge of the sport. Coaches typically gain this knowledge through their own experiences playing the sport at some level. High schools typically hire teachers or administrators at the school for most coaching jobs. Coaches do not have regular schedules like the normal person. Former NFL and college coaches have said Coaches and scouts often work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Professional or college coaches usually work more than 40 hours a week for several months during the sport s season ( Coaches and Scouts ).Most of the time coaches will miss out on a lot of things because of their job. The average pay for coaching is not all that but it varies for each level of coaching. Colleges, universities, and professional schools; state,

Witchcraft Hysteria In The 17th Century

With Europe entering the 17th century, its citizens were still undergoing the prosperity that coincided with the emergence of the Renaissance. Economic growth, newly structured capitalistic movements as well as trans Atlantic expansion, became the successes of Europe and, as a result, its citizens overcame the overwhelming death toll (due to previous wars and the notorious Black Plague ). This led to an explicit reevaluation of life, the importance of religion, and prospects of power which all soared to an all time high. One example of a reevaluation of the prospects of power would be the decrees and regulations undertaken by monarchs of the 17th century in response to the Church. Often times, secular rulers would amass power and favorability... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Women have been customarily subjugated to household labor without opportunities for advancement for roles within the societies they live in. Unfortunately, within the 17th century, little to no progression has come about in response to the injustice placed upon the vast majority of women living in England. With England having endured the brunt of failures at the hands of absolute monarchs, opposing religions taking the thrones periodically (Anglican to Puritan to Anglican); leading towards instability for the overwhelmingly diversified Protest communities, a growing need to seek out scapegoats for such atrocities have lead the overarching communities of England to target impoverished, and often times, elderly women to the point of widespread persecutions. The witch hunt that sprang in the 17th century found easy footing with an already conservative religious government seeking out dissenters of the faith to strengthen their position in power. The Anglican government felt it was their obligation to institute such movements of persecutions in order to rally its people behind a unified front of faith as well as diminishing the

Managing Human Relations

Definition of Human Relations In our business world today, people who enter the workforce are discovering that interpersonal skills represent a very important category of basic skills valued by employers.

These skills can also help us to cope with a wide range of work life issues and conflicts that surface in our lives. Besides that, these skills will also help us in areas such as interviewing to get a job in the future, improving our personal communication skills and building and thus maintaining productive relationships with others in the workplace. These skills lead to a term which is known as human relations. Human relations is defined in its broadest sense which covers all types of interactions among people. ... One of the reasons is because organizations are advancing more to the age of Information Technology (IT) and many things in the world nowadays are done by machines and requires a minimal amount of manpower. This will lessen the job opportunities and even those who have worked in the particular workplace will be forced to resign or quit their respective jobs. As an effect of this, many organizations will shortlist those workers who are performing at a full pace and achieving more goals than others to remain in the company and then hand in a resignation letter for those workers who are underperforming or those who failed to achieve their goals. In order to tackle this issue, many companies nowadays spend most of their time to train their employees so that they could be better workers and would help the company to achieve more success in the future. When the company trains their employees, the employees are expected to understand on what is required of them during the day at work. Employees are also required to continuously build relationships with their employers or managers of the company and also learn to accept the other employees which are working together with them. In addition, another major reason on why human relations is important in workplaces is because most companies are growing bigger and bigger compared to few years back. Many large companies

Southwest Savanna Environmental Analysis

The Southwest Savanna is characterized by the hilltops, rivers and valleys and steep wooded slopes within the area. The average growing season in this part of southern Wisconsin is 153 days, making it the fourth longest growing season of the different landscapes within the state (Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources 2015). Of all the land in this section of Wisconsin, about 3.5% belongs to state, county, or municipal governments; this includes the state parks, natural areas, and wildlife areas. (Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources 2015). In the past, a majority of the forests in the Southern Savanna burned frequently. These forests depended on the fires to help maintain the area and return nutrients to the soil. In the mid 1800s,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Geologists have said that the deep granites are the roots of the mountains that were once here more than two billion years ago (Belmont Mound State Park Geology). The sandstones and limestones, that the mound is composed of, was originally deposited on top of the granite as the sea bottom of the sea that once covered a major part southern Wisconsin (Belmont Mound State Park Geology). Since Belmond Mound is in the Driftless area, the erosion patterns that carved southwestern Wisconsin are what created the mound. Over the 400 million year erosion cycle, streams removed the sandstone limestone, and dolomite from the southern part of Wisconsin (Belmont Mound State Park Geology). The remains of these minerals in this region exist only as tiny remnants on the tops of the Blue, Platte, Belmont and Sinsinawa mounds. If these mounds were not capped by the Niagara dolomite in the area, they would have been cut down to the level of the lands surrounding them (Belmont Mound State Park Geology).

The Belmont Mound is an example of the southern mesic and dry mesic forests in Wisconsin. The east central part of the woods is more mesic with sugar maple being the dominant species while larger red oak, basswood, and white ash dominate the remainder, with some black walnut mixed in (Belmont Mound Woods No. 167). The areas of the mound that were the focus of the study were the Southern (day one) and Eastern (day two)

About 41% of students, that are enrolled in an inner city school, graduate from high school. This is the case when it comes to Woodrow Wilson Classical High School in the movie Freedom Writers. In this 2007 film, this high school in Los Angeles, California has adopted a new racial integration plan. A new, young, enthusiastic female teacher starts at the school in hopes of making a change at the school. Her class of interracial students are deemed incapable of learning. Instead of giving up, she inspires her students to take an interest in their learning and in their future. In the film, Freedom Writers, director Richard LaGravenese kept some events the same from the actual event the same but changed some of the settings and events that occurred in order to make the movie more exciting and not as harsh as it actually was. In Freedom Writers, a few relationships and characters in the movie differed from their actual lives in real life. For example, in the movie, only some of her students graduated and are in college. In real life, almost all have gone to college and not one has been killed. As Salkin states about the movie, Not one of the 150 disadvantaged high school students has been killed in street violence. Many have gone on to college and graduate school. (Salkin). They made it seem like the kids were not going anywhere in life and that their teacher had no impact on their lives. A similar difference occurred between the movie and real life as Jung Ah stated. You are going to waste your time on people who don t give a damn about education (Jung Ah). As the movie progresses, however, her father becomes part of the classroom community, giving rides to students and going to the museum with them. Most of the teachers in the movie did not care about the kids education, but in real life that does not apply at all whatsoever. Even though the director didn t completely follow the actual school in real life, his movie was still very interesting and gave a complete visual of the conditions that the students went through. Richard LaGravenese managed to keep the film insync and exhilarating with the true story, by keeping some of the actual events the same in the movie. For example, by keeping the death of

How It Will End By Duhamel Summary

Relationships, Comparisons, Assumptions, and What Lies Beneath As time passes in a relationship, it is inevitable that confrontations are bound to occur. Whether small disagreements created from minor issues, to mediocre arguments based on daily matters, to serious incidents that can reflect relationship taboos, it is a couple s perception and understanding of each other that can strengthen or weaken their union. The poem How It Will End by Denise Duhamel portrays two couples involved in similar matters as those previously described. One couple is having, what appears to be, an argumentat the beach and the second couple is watching them from afar, as they re on a boardwalk. As the poem progresses, the second couple s assumptions of what... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Duhamel s poem, this is clearly represented. One couple appears to be far from having a happy day at the beach; they re arguing, the female s body language reveals a need for acceptance, distance, and rejection. The second couple s belief of what is stirring and their relationship comparison based on these thoughts, solidifies the underlying truth that marriage is not easy. Lines 20 to 21: I start to coach the girl to leave her no good lifeguard, but my husband predicts he ll never leave, are depicting the couple s mirroring on what they would actually do in this situation. The relationship judgement concept continues in lines 23 through 25 with That s your problem you think every fight is funny. You never take her seriously, and he says, You never even give a guy a chance and you re always nagging where a compromise issue is portrayed this time, obviously on both couples. Relationships require you to extend yourself for the sake of the other, that is collectively understanding each other s needs, accept mistakes, and practice forgiveness.Should relationships be compared to others? Is the concept of assumption safe for a union? Is proof necessary for a couple to be happy? Nothing good ever comes of comparing your relationship to someone else s. It is better to acknowledge that each bond is unique and has its strengths and weaknesses. One of the most important reasons not to compare relationships is that you re not seeing the full picture. Furthermore, in the last two lines of the poem: She has her arms around his neck and is crying into his shoulder, He whisks her up into his hut. We look around, but no one is watching us it confirms that the second couple has issues lying deep beneath their own. Once you begin comparing relationships, you ll probably start focusing on the

My Reflection Of Me

I don t know about you, but I don t often star at myself in the mirror, studying my own face. Does anybody? The longest amount of time I spend looking at myself is when I m shaving, and even then, I m just concentrating on not being a klutz and cutting myself open. I m not being down on myself or looking for attention or any such nonsense like that. I mean, I don t even have a Facebook. It s just that, gazing upon my reflectionis just not something I do. I get out of the shower, I shave, brush my teeth, and I m gone, on to whatever the day has in store for me. Another thing I m not used to is the clarity of the face. I should back up a moment, so you understand. I have, for the better part of a month, been having a recurring dream that unsettles me. In it, I am staring at myself in a mirror and it is devoid of the dream quality one expects from the images in their brain. In dreams, whenever I see someone who is supposed to be me or someone I have known for years, the face is different, sometimes subtly, other times it is completely different. But in this mirror, in this reflection that comes through in my reverie, it is my face, perfectly so, no blur or changes or oddly shaped parts. The eyes are the same dull blue that they ve always been, my nose, slightly long but not weirdly so, although there is a curve at the bridge where I broke it falling from my bike when I was twelve. My ears are normal looking, my eyebrows a tad bushy but otherwise fine with no unibrow,

Mergers and Acquisition

Student Name: Mandeep Kaur (10211855) Module Leader: Simeon Scott Course: MA IBM

Introduction: For my research topic I have chosen this topic to analyse and to investigate about the mergers and acquisitions of organisations. Do these mergers and acquisitions always bring desired results or not. Mergers and acquisitions are very common and occur everywhere i.e. in organizations, administrative units and businesses in all industries and of all sizes specially in banking sector and in pharmaceutical ... Literature review: Different tools and techniques in the forms of ratio analysis etc. are used by scholars to identify the effects of mergers and acquisitions and interestingly different results are there in the market. Performance can be measured on the basis of long term and short term time period; long term performance can be checked on the basis of profitability of the firm. Fundamental analysis of the company with the help of ratio analysis (kumar bansal, 2008)

Motives for mergers and acquisitions: in economic terms a merger or acquisition will only be worthwhile if combining the two businesses will lead to gains which would not arise if the two business stayed apart. In financial terms, the present value of bidding business plus, the present value of target business plus, a gain in terms of increased income or reduced expenses from combining (Samuels, wilikes and brayshaw, 1996).

Acquisitions as transformation category:

As compared with other types of transformation in a company, the characteristics of an acquisition is that it can include almost all other transformation categories. The employees in the acquired organization must go through a number of technical changes: new frame of reference, new organization, new business model, new rules and processes, different working conditions, privileges, etc. It

Victorian Era Women

During the Victorian era most Victorians had a strong belief in romantic love. It definitely was not a normal for people to sleep with one another before they were married. Younger women were generally expected to remain a virgin until they were married. Sometimes even though two people were married, it was not because they were in love. The upper and middle class women were monitored, and were never left alone with any of the young men. Romance for the Victorians could be a dramatic and dangerous affair according to newspaper articles of the Victorian time era. During the Victorian eraQueen Elizabeth reigned. Once a man and woman are formally introduced, a gentlemen was allowed to offer to walk a young woman home by presenting her with a card that asked if he could be her escort. The woman would then present a card to the gentlemen giving him her answer. During an evening a woman could collect many cards from different gentlemen but the one that she prefers the most would get a card from her and this meant that she had accepted his offer to be escorted home. Even during the walk home the gentlemen and the woman had to walk apart from one another. A gentlemen was only allowed to offer a woman his hand while walking over rough spots. This was the only contact that they could have with one another since the woman was not his
