Nonlinear Dynamics And Its Effect On The Performance Of...

Abstract Nonlinear behavior is a common feature of all real word systems. However for the sake of simplicity, a linear model is often used in the controller design procedure. However, neglected nonlinear dynamics might decrease the performance of controller drastically. In this paper, a new method for designing MPC controllers in state space is proposed for a class of nonlinear processes. In the proposed method, first an MPC controller is designed in state space based on a linear model and then, it is modified using Modal Series to compensate the effect of neglected nonlinear dynamics. At the end, the proposed method is applied to control two real systems and the results are discussed. Index Terms Modal Series, Nonlinear, Predictive Control. B INTRODUCTION ECAUSE of high performance and simplicity, MPC controllers have extended their application in various industries [1]. These controllers share following essential ideas [2]. Predicting process future behavior using a model. Optimizing this behavior by determining future inputs. Applying determined input and repeating this procedure in next sampling period of time. First of all, an appropriate model of under control system should be acquired in predictive control, which is called predictive model. This model should be capable of predicting system s behavior to provide the designer with required outputs in prediction horizon k using system s information till the moment t. In mathematic words, it should be able to

The Quality Of Wisdom In Herman Hesse s Sidddhartha

Wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement. Knowledge is facts, information, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education. You may gain knowledge through education but you can t be taught wisdom. Sometimes that s a hard learned lesson. In Siddhartha, Herman Hesse uses the theme wisdom cannot be learned nor gained through teachings but can only be achieved through experience. Which is very evident through seeing Siddhartha going through his journey of life to reach full enlightenment/wisdom on his own.

Siddhartha early on in his rich Brahmin life realizes that the teachings he s learning from the Brahmins is inadequate to reach enlightenment. Siddhartha is not content with having knowledge he knows that there is more to learn and receive. The Brahmins are not fulfilling his mind. He had begun to sense that his venerable father and his other teachers, that the wise Brahmins had already imparted to him the bulk and the best of their knowledge...his mind was not contented (5). This shows that he realizes there is more and he decides to leave to find that more . Siddhartha finds the Samanas and becomes apart of them. He gains knowledge but questions their way to nirvana/enlightenment. During the samana period he is discontent with what he has already learned thinking that he has been taught all there is to learn from the Samanas. I am willing to listen to these teachings though in my heart I believe that we ve already tasted the best fruit of these teachings (21). Siddhartha knows there is more he can be taught and thinks he can not do that with the Samanas. Siddhartha believes the teachings of wisdom and knowledge but is discontent with learning it and tries to find other paths to enlightenment.

After the Samanas, Siddhartha crosses the river to find someone that has reached the highest level of wisdom and enlightenment. He is still discontent but acknowledges that he can reach that level if he keeps searching. After listening to a teaching from the Buddha(who has reached enlightenment) Siddhartha wants to ask him how he reached enlightenment. The Buddha says what Siddhartha has been thinking the whole time. It came to you from your own seeking path,

Female Figure In Greek Art

For thousands of years, human life is incomplete without sculptures, paintings, and literature. More than 25,000 years ago evidence about culture is described in paintings found in caves and small sculptures. Magical help to hunters was apparently supplied by the sculptures. Sculptures represented gods after the aurora of civilization. Ancient kings made statues of god in a hope of making themselves eternal and have their effigy sculpted, giving rise to profile sculpture. People of paleolithic era carved stone to make sculptures as well as their weapons that were necessary for them to survive in unfavourable environment. Archeological sites across Europe found large number of female structural artifacts. Sculptures are very gigantic and enduring... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The stage for both was the bronze age. Though Mesopotamian, specifically the Sumerians had a great start than Greek. The typical Sumerians sculptures are crimped beard and arching eyebrow. Greek legend has it that tribe from the north, the Dorians, Overran the Greek terrain and the Peloponnese, yet there is minimal authentic proof to help this story. Whatever caused the decay, the Greek individuals practically overlooked the basics of culture and perusing and composing fell into neglect. Generally, the greek lived in little rustic groups that frequently warred with one another. But notwithstanding these conditions, which scarcely supported the advancement of workmanship and design, the Greeks figured out how to maintain a feeling of personality and even, as the survival of the Trojan war legends proposes, some thought of their social legacy while the general population of Mesopotamia was absolutely subject to the Tigris and Euphrates waterways for their occupations. By inundating the grounds simply outside the swamps on the riverbanks, the conditions essential for broad and expand groups, for example, Ur started to emerge: Individuals burrowed channels and jettison and collaborated in managing the stream of water in them, which inevitably brought about yields that surpassed the requirements of the population. These could be changed into foodstuffs of a more detailed kind,

The New Technology in Google and Microsoft

With the growth of the Internet, and the popularity of Software as a Service, many applications that have traditionally been used offline have moved into the cloud. Companies providing on demand service through the Internet have reinvigorated one of the most iconic pieces of computer software, the productivity suite. Two such providers are Microsoftand Google. Through their Office 365 and Google Appsservices, respectively, businesses can leverage the benefits of cloud without having to worry about the large upfront cost that productivity software used to incur. Microsoft, an industry leader with their Office suiteof software products for over two decades, now offers much of the same functionality through the Internet with Office 365. Whereas their products would previously cost over a hundred dollars per user up front, Microsoft offers Office 365 for as little as $5 per user per month. Some of the features that it includes are business class email, web conferencing, a public website, file sharing, shared calendars, and web versions of the most popular components of Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote) ( Compare Office, n.d.). The company also offers, for a small amount more, the ability to get access to its desktop based applications as well. This makes it an attractive option for those companies that may still be transitioning to the cloud, or for those who still rely on a particular part of the Office suite (Access, Publisher, etc.). In contrast, Google is

The Chesapeake Bay And The Bay

The Chesapeake Bay, which derives from the Algonquin word Chesepiooc meaning great shellfish bay , has been around for a very long time. Approximately 35 million years ago, a rare bolide (a comet or asteroid like object) hit what is now the lower tip of the Delmarva Peninsula, creating a 55 mile wide crater. The bolide created what geologists call the Exmore Crater, which they believe was as large as Rhode Island and as deep as the Grand Canyon. Although this bolide did not create the Chesapeake Bay, it helped determine that a bay would eventually be located there. Today, the Chesapeake Bay stretches from Havre de Grace, Marylandto Norfolk Virginia. The Bay is approximately 200 miles long, up to 35 miles wide, and has an average ... The Bay s salinity varies widely from season to season and from year to year, depending on the amount of fresh water flowing from its rivers. The Bay tends to be fresher in spring, when snow melts and heavy rainstorms frequently fall. During the drier months, the Bay is usually saltier. Salinity also increases with depth. Fresh water remains at the surface because it is less dense than salt water. The water on the Bay s eastern shore tends to be saltier than the water on the western side. This is due to two factors; most fresh water enters the Bay from its northern and western tributaries, and The Coriolis Force, a phenomenon caused by the earth s rotation, pushes flowing water in the Northern Hemisphere to the right, causing saltier water to move up the Bay veers toward the eastern shore.

The Chesapeake Bay is the largest estuary in the United States. About half of the Bay s water volume comes from salt water from the Atlantic Ocean. The other half drains into the Bay from its enormous 64,000 square mile watershed. Estuaries are among the most productive environments on earth, creating more organic matter each year than similarly sized forests and agricultural areas. Estuaries also provide diverse habitats for wildlife and aquatic life, protect our communities against flooding, reduce pollution of waterways, and support local economies through commercial and recreational activities. Nile River Dbq Essay

The Nile river shaped ancient Egypt in many ways. The Nile was important to everyone who lived in ancient Egypt. Without the Nile River the ancient Egyptians would have never survived. The Nile was a big part in everything that the Egyptians did. The Nile took a big part in agriculture, economics, and religion in ancient Egypt.

The Nile River took place in Egypt s agriculture. All of the major cities in ancient Egypt are near the Nile and the fertile land around it. The Nile produced a type of silt when it flooded. The ancient Egyptians used this silt to plant crops such as wheat and bareley which was one of the Egyptians only food source. This is why it was very important when the Nile flooded. The Egyptians even had a their seasons based off of when the Nile River flooded. The Nile produced almost every food source that the Egyptians had. It produced wheat, bareley, papyrus roots and fish. They used the Nile s wheat and barley for bread and beer, and ate papyrus roots and fish. Without the Nile River the ancient Egyptians would have nothing to eat or trade.

The Nile helps with trade, transportation and jobs. The Nile river travels down south to Nubia, a place that they trade with. They could trade goods up and down river on the Nile which helps with Egypt s relations with Nubia and also increases income of merchants. The Nile was also used for transportation. They could sail on the Nile to trade, move materials for a pyramid or tomb faster, and could bring important people from place to place. As said before, the seasons were based on when the Nile flooded. They also had a season for selling crops that were grown on the Nile. There are also many jobs that are on the Nile. Some of them are, sailors, rowers, boat builders, navigators, loaders, merchants, gaurds and a lot more. Without the Nile Egypt wouldn t have any trade routes and there would be a lot less

John White s Argumentative Essay

When I started this project, my thinking was ¨why would they carve croatoan and cro and not just one or the other and why carve it and not write it? So I decided to put the letters croatoancro in an anagram solver and one word was undefined but as two words there was raccoon taro, and the word raccoon originated from them, in Virginia which could have been a code of some sort that only John White and his family knew about and taro is a tropical asian plant which was very popular in Asia and worth many. My end theory is that an asian ship was making a voyage to the new land to try and grow the Taro plants and the ship was leaking and crash landed on Roanoke. The Asian explorers offered the chance for the colonists to come with them and live... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Asian explorers knew they couldn t let the refusing villagers spill the beans about them being there, so they planned to kill the refusing half when the repairs were done with their ship(which they used the houses for). Eventually, one of the villagers figured out and made a plan to stage they were running to Croatoan but they actually went into hiding with Indians to throw the Asian explorers off their tail. The remaining half went into hiding and were eventually able to communicate with John White, which explains his mysterious disappearance. I believe they went into a secret colony in the area of John White s planned Cit tie of Raleigh , which was hidden on a map that had been sitting in the British Museum, in London. When historians were looking at a new area of the map rarely focused on, which was the island itself. Before, historians focused on the beach, but when nothing showed up, they started to work inland, discovering many things, but not the right things until they noticed a patch on the paper where they believed before that John White just messed up and that was his form of white out, and it was never bothered again until a non profit research group insisted that it be viewed under infrared and discovered a symbol under the
