Klinefelter Syndrome Research Paper

Klinefelter syndrome is a genetic condition that results when a boy is born with an extra copy of the X chromosome. Klinefelter syndrome is a common genetic condition affecting only males. It mostly affects testicular growth, and this can result in smaller than normal testicles. This can lead to lower production of the sex hormone testosterone. Klinefelter syndrome may also cause reduced muscle mass, reduced body and facial hair, and enlarged breast tissue. The effects of Klinefelter syndrome affect every person differently, and not everyone with it develops the same signs and symptoms. Klinefelter syndrome often isn t diagnosed until adulthood. Most men with Klinefelter syndrome produce little or no sperm. But assisted reproductive procedures... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Starting at the time of the usual onset of puberty, testosterone replacement can help treat or prevent a number of problems. Testosterone may be given as an injection or with a gel or patch on the skin. The therapy allows a boy to undergo the body changes that normally occur at puberty, such as developing a deeper voice, growing facial and body hair, and increasing muscle mass and penis size. It can also improve bone density and reduce the risk of fractures. It will not result in testicle enlargement or improve infertility. Breast tissue removal in males who develop enlarged breasts (gynecomastia), excess breast tissue can be removed by a plastic surgeon, leaving a more normal looking chest. Speech and physical therapy treatments can help boys with Klinefelter syndrome overcome problems with speech, language and muscle weakness. Educational support is very important with boys who have Klinefelter syndrome. They usually have trouble learning and can benefit from extra assistance. Parents should talk to their child s teacher, school counselor or school nurse about what kind of support might help. Most men with Klinefelter syndrome are unable to father children, because no sperm are produced in the testicles. Some men with Klinefelter syndrome may have some minimal sperm production. One option that may benefit men with

Feminism, By Simone Beauvoir Essay

According to Simone Beauvoir, feminism has already been tainted to an extent that there seems no hope of talking about the subject. Though a lot has been said about feminism, little improvement has been seen in women and they are still subject to man. Woman no longer exists as a fellow man but lives in the shadow of a man. Though a woman is just a fellow human being like a man, society has made her less significant such that there are no definite characteristics relating to a woman as it is for a man (Simone, 1949). The author wondered whether women still existed, if they are supposed to exist, and if they existed, what place would the society place them. In her introduction, Simone Beauvoir develops her thesis by claiming that women are a lost course and tries to give different characteristics given to a man to show that there is no definite place for a woman in society. Though women make a half of human population, they are normally encouraged to be and behave like women and men are viewed as a superior human being such that a woman is just the other. She cannot exist without a man though a man can exist on his own. The author gives definitions of a woman as society perceives her.

One of the definitions is that a woman is characterized by a womb. However, some scholars oppose the definition by claiming that though some women have a womb, they cannot be referred to as women. The very parts that make a woman are what seem to imprison her. Ovaries, uterus, and glands make

Product Life Cycle Essay

Product Life Cycle Name GBM/381 December 5, 2011 Rolando Sanchez Product Life Cycle The international product life cycle (PLC) theory of trade states that the location of production of certain kinds of products shifts as they go through their life cycles, which consist of four stages introduction, growth, maturity, and decline. There are many ins and outs when a company is putting a product into production and distribution. You must be able to assess the the impact that it is going to gain for your company, for instance when Blackberry makes new phones they have to decide what is going to be a draw for consumers from the operating system, the abilities that come with the phone from wifi connectivity,... With the financial backing the company is going to grow and with the company growing around %24 from the previous year their products will continue to have a great international impact. Trading groups, whether bilateral or regional, are an important influence on MNEs strategies. Such groups can define the size of the regional market and the rules under which companies must operate. Companies in the initial stages of foreign expansion must be aware of the regional economic groups that encompass countries with good manufacturing locations or market opportunities. For instance when you have a company that assesses the needs of their product in a foreign market, there is cost associated with the export of their product and with the agreements that the company has that is protected by trade agreements the company will save monies in the long run and withstand the impact of their product being sold in other markets, by sometimes having that price reduction of tax, shipping cost when building that relationship, to progress the growth in their company and in both markets of goods exported and sold. One of the factors behind the success of the brand in Jamaica, Stewart believes, is its affordability despite it being a

The Pros And Cons Of Television Commercials

Television commercials are a form of advertising, it is a way for people to know about a product. It is a chance for companies along with their marketing team to get creative, to convince the audience that they absolutely need that item to better their lifestyle, in order for them to do that through commercials they have to think about the intended audience. The intended audience is usually either men or women which are the two groups of consumers. Both genders regardless of the role they have whether it is a mom, a dad, teens or kids, are usually influenced by what they see, and most people watch television on a regular basis which makes it easy for companies to advertise through television. Commercials also tend to change depending on what people watch, this occurs so that depending on the audience the show has or if it is sports that they are watching then consumers could see commercials that will appeal to them. Steve Craig selected various television commercials that use to air back in the 1990s, he analyzed them and wrote Men s Men and Women s Women where he argues that commercials were gendered. Seeing commercials that are being aired today and comparing them to the ones that Craig analyzed you can the differences between them. Today s commercials are still gendered, but not as much as those from the 1990s. One of the biggest differences that can be seen, and that Craig also noticed is that in the past commercials advertisers would match the expectations and

A Lady s Life In The Rocky Mountains By Isabella Bird

Nature writing revolves around elements of nature with the aim of creating environmental and ecological preservation. It has been a significant method to process scientific information in a skillful and creative way and to persuade people to think from a different angle about problems facing the environment. In the American culture, naturewriting has had firm roots. It has worked alongside other literature works such as poems to ensure that people capture environmental issues in a broad way. It has helped in the shaping of American ethics and has influenced public opinion on issues of ecological preservation. The essay analyzes influences of John Muir, Aldo Leopold, and Wendell Berry on the book A Lady s Life in the Rocky Mountains by Isabella Bird.

The book A Lady s Life in the Rocky Mountains details a visit by Isabella to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado on a horseback. She writes a book with the aim of describing nature of the Rocky Mountains (Bird 12). She has a goal of passing through the mountains to reach the Estes Park. He was also appointed as the nation s foremost expert on wildlife management. He urged for the scientific management of wildlife habitat instead of depending on game and hunting laws. Legal Liabilities of Board Members

Course questions Question 1: Legal liabilities of board members The board is critical in running an economic entity as it represents the backbone of its decision making process, as well as the backbone of the entire organizational affairs, activities and public image. As member of the board, the individual occupies a powerful and privileged position within the firm, but this position also comes with responsibilities. In other words, the board members are also subjected to some legal liabilities. At a most basic level, the legal liabilities of the board members refer to the following: the duty of care, the duty of loyalty and the duty regarding the personal and corporate assets (Murray). In terms of the duty liability, this sees that the board members will continually act in favor of the best interests of the organizational stakeholders (employees, customers, public, business partners and so on); in cases in which they promote interests other than those of the stakeholders, the board members can be subjected to legal repercussions. The duty of loyalty for the board members revolves around the obligation of the executives to avoid any conflicts of interest. In case they become involved in such situations, they can be held accountable in front of the law; the application of the liabilities will depend on the nature of the situation and will depend from one instance to the other. Finally, Jean Murray states that the third set of duties generative of legal

Understanding Labor Relations

Understanding Labor Relations and Collective Bargaining In the video, Understanding Labor Relations and Collective Bargaining , Donald Carty, CEO of American Airlines at that time, expresses the disappointment of the many executives in a union environment face in regards to labor costs. Shortly after this video, Mr. Carty had announced executive retention bonuses and pension protection right after most union members had already voted to accept over $1 billion worth of wage and benefit concessions (Zellner, 2003). Needless to say, this didn t brief too well to the point that two of the three unions were calling for new votes (Zellner, 2003). Mr. Carty claimed that it was merely to keep the company out of bankruptcy. So, if the labor costs were part of American Airlines restructuring before the contract negotiations as Mr. Carty had stated, what other preparations would have the company took prior to the negotiation process? What federal government agencies were involved in the labor relations? And what type of response would be expected from the unions that represent American Airlines employees after comments such as the ones Mr. Carty stated? Preparations Prior to a Negotiation Process Preparation for any negotiation should start with a number of steps designed to develop your negotiating strategy (Lynn, 2002). The company should have reviewed union agendas from previous negotiations, if there were any. This would have allowed them to analyze arguments made by both

Burial Of The Fetus Burial Analysis

I have chosen the topic of burial of the fetus because I believe that even though the fetus was never a whole person I still think it deserves proper burial or have the fetuses tissues be used for something good like organ donation or research for finding cures. There have been several videos and breaking news about people selling fetal tissues after an abortionalthough, some allegations may not be true Texas decided to take action before anything like that happened in the state. As of 2017, Texas is passing laws to require women who have abortions to have their unborn child buried or cremated. The article described the legislator like a tyrant, limiting public debate and cutting people off (Grieder, Mann, Ratcliffe, Sweany, Texas Monthly Staff, 2015) . It gives examples like claiming that Schwertner blocked the texting while driving bill though he voted for it (Grieder, Mann, Ratcliffe, Sweany, Texas Monthly Staff, 2105) . The article basically bashed the legislator and didn t give any credit for the good things he did do while a legislator. Schwertner s bill was engrossed on March 3, 2017 and is in fifty percent progression; on March 16, 2017, was received from the Senate. Twenty Republicans and one Democrat sponsors the bill. The focus of Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice is the prejudice of Elizabeth Bennet against the apparent arrogance of her future suitor, Fitzwilliam Darcy, and the blow to his pride in falling in love with her. The key elements of the story are the irony, values and realism of the characters as they develop.

Jane Austen¹s irony is devastating in its exposure of foolishness and hypocrisy. Self delusion or the attempt to fool other people are usually the object of her wit. There are various forms of exquisite irony in Pride and Prejudice, sometimes the characters are unconsciously ironic, as when Mrs. Bennet seriously asserts that she would never accept any entailed property, though... and the good nature wishes for her well doing, which had proceed before from all the spiteful old ladies in Meryton, lost but a little of their spirit in this change of circumstances, because with such a husband, her misery was certain. (Austen 270)

Austen uses irony to provoke gentle, whimsical laughter and to make veiled, bitter observations as well; in her hands irony is an extremely effective device for moral evaluation: She has Elizabeth say that she hopes she will never laugh at what is wise or good. (Austen 143)

The characters on Pride and Prejudice are full of moral, social and human values. Every character is measured against the intelligence and sensitivity which eighteen century people called good sense, and they stand and fall by common consent of the evaluation made by the author. The characters themselves, the sensible ones, accept this standard, and their relationships are determined by it, Mr. Bennet cannot be happy with his wife because he does not respect her: Mr. Bennet saw his wife, he was thinking about how obstinate she was, how money made her so happy, and how hypocrite she was. (Austen 90) For this reason he retreats the ridiculousness of his family into sarcasm and carelessness. Elizabeth also feels pained by her family¹s folly, and can not help realizing how harmful it is to

Analysis Of The Article The Body Paragraphs

After first reviewing the article, it came to the reader s attention that Neltner was providing the stronger argument. Neltner believed that smarter investments and stricter oversight were the key to providing safe drinking water to the public. When speaking to the reader in the introduction, he used a first person point of view to attract the reader s attention. For example, the word we was used to make the reader feel involved in the subject. A similar method was utilized in the conclusion to remind the reader that they were included in this discussion. In the body paragraphs, the same method was used in a similar way. The writer deviated to third person point of view instead of first. This was intended to cause the argument to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was not clear with his argument. Therefore, his redirect is lacking. Neltner leaves the reader guessing because the concession is incomplete in the text. He does not state what needs to be done to improve the drinking water. The redirect needs to be expressed in a better way to justify federal funding. It is also tied to the concession which makes it come off as an ambiguous phrase. The why from the concession is missing because of this. Neltner s reasoning also comes off as a potential deceptive statistic which makes also makes it an ambiguous phrase. The reader is not sure whether there is a mean, median, or mode because the statement is not in depth making it appear to be deceptive. Of the two men debating this issue, Neltner is the more qualified individual. In this text he uses himself as an expert opinion because he is a qualified individual. This appears to exhibit a strength because he is knowledgeable in the subject. However, that is not the case. He uses himself as the expert opinion, which causes him to not express the value in this value assumption. Despite the fact that he knows what he is talking about, Neltner does not express what doing enough is in this article. He talks about how the government could do more, but he does not express what could be done. Moore s argument has more weaknesses than strengths. He starts off by using first person point of view in the plural form to transition. But, he does not use them in the

On February 25, 2016, I was able to see the Mid Year Band Concert in the PAC. The pieces I have chosen to review were performed by the Varsity, Symphonic II and Symphonic I Bands and conducted by Mr. Bailey and Mr. Hillhouse. King Cotton, Amparito Roca, and Valdres were among my favorites in the program and are all coincidentally, marches. To start with, the Varsity Band performed a royal march called King Cotton by Karl King. It reminded me of a Sousa type piece due to the recurring melody and march style. As the piece began, the band played tutti but had a mediocre balance due to the woodwind instruments, particularly the clarinets, standing out from the others. Their reedy timbre and higher pitch than the rest of the ensemble... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hillhouse. It was a Norwegian march named Valdres by Robert Jaeger. The piece begins with the trumpets and snare drum with a mezzo piano dynamic. The trumpet repeats the same legato phrase of what seems to be eighth note, dotted quarter, eighth note, eighth note, eighth note then a whole note. Each time this was played by the brass instrument, it ascended by a half step. I personally liked this rhythm because it felt slower and more relaxed than the previous marches. Shortly after, the clarinets join in and layered the trumpet and snare. These woodwinds added a airy timbre to the slower piece and therefore, the dynamics changed from lento to vivace. Soon, all woodwinds, brass and percussion joined into the repeating melody adding a fuller feeling to the march. Shortly, the band crescendoed into a short rest. Then, the french horns to play piano, giving a darker tone and a brassy timbre. During this, a trumpet played a short fanfare that was very well played with use of quieter, legato dynamics to resemble the rest of the brass but still be more prominent with an unequal balance. The trumpet also had a pattern of an ascending then descending scale. Together the brass reminded me of the fullness and darkness of a serene forest or peaceful voyage. Perhaps resembling a sail through a fjord due to the march being Norwegian. A clarinet follows the trumpet s solo in the same rhythmic fashion and then the band plays tutti. The piece then repeats back to the very beginning at mezzo piano with the trumpets. The piece then closes as it did before the break into a different

Homosexuality In The LGBT Community

LGBT is an acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. The subject of being homosexual is a sensitive subject for almost anyone in America. That being, Americans have multiple different viewpoints that they have developed. Some having harsh views, and some just being a free spirit. The LGBT community has always had a controversial viewpoint in contrary to religion, social acceptance, and it even goes against what the president has to say.

Christians believe that a man should love a woman, and a woman should love a man. In their eyes this is what they were raised to believe. In the LGBT community, their belief is that love matters. No matter the race, gender or sexual preference, if they are in love then they are allowed to be together. Medically in order for a couple to reproduce naturally, a man would have to inseminate a woman. In a homosexual relationship, the act of natural reproduction is unable to happen. A study showed that 3 out of 10 LGBT members have felt uncomfortable around religious groups or while attending church. About one third of Americans who say that homosexuality makes them uncomfortable blames it on the fact that is conflicts with the beliefs of their religion. Overall the percentage of people that say members of the LGBT community should be accepted increased over the past ten years from 47% to 60%. Even though the percentages show an overall increase for the population, it doesn t show the personal experiences of each person. One may
