Squids vs. Octopus The ocean animals I am going to compare are octopus and squid. I am comparing these two things because they are unique ocean creatures. I think that it is interesting how they both catch their prey, and how they live. It is also really interesting to learn what they eat and how they do things. The first thing I am comparing is an octopus to a squid. An octopus has 8 tentacles, and uses all of them to catch their prey. They live in dens on the seafloor. Octopus lose their outer shell and get a new one back. They also have a round head. Octopus lifespan is 3 5 years. It has two eyes and four pairs of arms, and like other cephalopods, it is bilaterally symmetric. It has a beak, with its mouth at the center point of the arms. They feed mainly on worms, crabs, whelks and clams. The giant Pacific octopus feeds on shrimp, clams, lobsters, and fish, and even larger prey, such as sharks and birds. It has a beak, with its mouth at the center points of the arms. Octopuses are ocean creatures that are most famous for having eight arms and bulbous heads. They squirt ink to deter predators; and being boneless, they can squeeze into (or out of) tight spaces. The water depth in which they live ranges from the shallow, coastal waters to about about 330 feet deep. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Octopus use their eight sucker lined arms to capture their prey and move about on the ocean floor. Squids have eight arms lined with suckers and two specialized tentacles that they use to reach out and capture
Introduction (50 words ) This week learning has focused on how children built their mathematical understanding in five learning contexts and the importance of numeracy in early childhood. The learning this week also focused on discussion about setting play experiences which aim to foster and develop young children s numeracy and place value concepts in mathematics. In relation to teaching children mathematics what did you learn this week? (100 words) I have learnt that children learn mathematic by not only playing, manipulating resources or doing things but also by observating, investigating, communicating, listening, interacting with others, reasoning and thinking what they have done. Children are involving in mathematic in everyday
In 1882, Great Britain took over Egypt through military invasions, making it a protectorate in order to have control over the Suez Canal. The Suez Canal connected the British Empire in the west to India in the east, making it significant trade route for Britain to control. During the Cold War, Egypt became an area of great tension, challenging British control over the canal. There was an increase of nationalism, along with the rise of Gamal Abdel Nasserto power. His rise to power lead to the Suez CanalCrisis and Egypts independence from Britain in 1956. The Arab Spring began in Tunisia in December, 2010, eventually spreading to Egypt in 2011. British control over parts of Africa during the nineteenth century lead to many crises in the 20th and 21st centuries, including the Suez Canal Crisis and the Arab Spring in Egypt. The Cold War began soon after the Second World War ended, starting in 1947 and ending in 1991. The United States and the Soviet Union competed for nuclear superiority, beginning a nuclear arms race. Most other countries were in debt because of the war, so the US and the USSR became superpowers that other countries became allies with (Kte pi, par. 4). The American side was called the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO, and consisted of Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, and the United Kingdom (Kte pi, par. 9). Albania, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the Soviet
Many people feel that voting is important and most people feel like it s only right to do your part in choosing your leader. In the US we are not forced to vote however some feel we should be. Now in the 1820s in america the only group of people that can vote was white men who owned land. As times changed other groups got the chance to vote and participate in choosing our leader which is in fact a big deal. In my personal opinion I don t think we should be required to vote because no matter what it is us as U.S. citizen should always have a choice. Okay, so the first reason I feel we shouldn t be required to vote is because the younger age citizens aren t really in tune with what s going on in the political world. Document B. shows a graph
In the novel, White Fang by Jack London, the main character, White Fang, is quarter dog and three quarters wolf. He is wild for the first part of the book, but when he encounters an Indian tribe they take him in along with his mother. There, he is sold and separated from his mother and moves to San Francisco. In the novel, White Fang, a goal changed the life of White Fang, but not the world.
But it could not last long (18). One evening, Henry, White Fangs owner at the time, was getting rushed a wolf pack. They were all about and upon him. One wolf had bit his arm. He ran through the fire and when he leaped, he felt a wolf tear his leg flesh. His stout mittens protected his hands for a little and he threw live coals into the air until the campfire looked like a volcano. This quote comes about because he had dreamed that this firefight wouldn t last long, and it didn t. That didn t impact the world, just him. White Fang had to do whatever he could do and whatever he could understand to help Henry. ...and this one was not destined to live long (75). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the old lair, he encountered Kiche. From her tricks, she had left due to the inhospitable fires of gods and had gone back to her old refuge to give birth to her young. Though, while in the lair, he found one wolf that was still alive and he thought that it was not destined to live long, which is where the quote is from. The environment around this area was harsh and hot, thus he said that it wouldn t live long. If White Fang were to hope that it would live long, then he would have helped the wolf but he didn t so he didn t dream about it. This changed the book because if he were to help that wolf, I infer that it would ve joined White Fang s
Comparing the views of Bonhoeffer s Life Together and Zizioulas The Church Bonhoeffer and Zizioulas offer interesting perspectives for conceptualizing the Christian theology regarding the atonement. Indeed, one of the outstanding elements of Christianity practices, which sets them apart from other religions, is atonement. In this case, atonement can be defined as the process of sin reparation or expiation. There are four models of atonement. These include Christus Victor, Satisfaction, Exemplar and Penal Substitution. A look at the differences between these two theologians reveals a clear difference regarding their perspectives towards atonement, in which Bonhoeffer tends to orient himself towards the model of Christus Victor, while... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It affirms that God attributed the sins and guilt of humankind to Jesus, Who in place of man, received that punishment that humanity would have otherwise deserved. Jesus actions signified the payment of the sins of humankind, which settled both the righteousness and wrath of God so that sinners could be forgiven without God Himself compromising His holy standard. In essence, according to the penal substitution theory of the reformers, Jesus died in place of man, in the process accounting for the sins of man and bearing them. The act of Jesus taking the sins of man indicates that Jesus carried the cross of every believer, setting him free and safe from all the penal demands of God s law. In this context, the holiness of God and the righteousness of His law are accounted for by the substitution. Notably, in modern theology, the penal aspect has been a stumbling block despite being regarded as one of the dominant atonement in the bible. According to the model, Jesus paid man s ransom on his crucifixion. However, this view only works because Christ was paying man s penalty. Therefore, Christians should be inspired by the self sacrifice acts of Jesus on the cross. In addition, Jesus death and resurrection implied significant victories over death, hell, and sin in our union with him and God. Lastly, God accomplished his mission to reconcile the world with Him despite various trespasses by
Have you ever seen a person so disconnected from society and from what is considered to be normal that he or she made you question their sanity? If so, you could relate with the lawyer in the story Bartleby, the Scrivener. In this story, the narrator, who is a lawyer, has a simple man named Bartleby respond to a job opening as a scrivener. Unbeknownst to the lawyer, Bartleby did not act in the manner the lawyer would have expected. Bartleby is so outside of what is expected that it is almost as if he had died and no longer had to live up to society s standards. In this story, Bartleby is portrayed as a lifeless zombieand is alone with nowhere to go, no one to see, nowhere to be, and no purpose to live for. The first case on which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To copy someone else s work nonstop all day every day would get really tiring, but the lawyer says Bartleby gorges himself on copying papers and documents. Usually when someone gorges him or herself in something, it is something that they like or enjoy. In Bartleby s case this is what he does, not because he enjoys it but because it s all he has. This is evident when the lawyer says, He ran a day and night line, copying by sun light and by candle light. (108) This job is all he had in his life. Another case in which Bartleby shares similarities to that of a zombie is when he repeats throughout the story, I prefer not to. No one would ever say these words to his or her boss. That would be crazy, but Bartleby said these words multiple times to the lawyer, his boss. This is similar to the characteristics of a zombie, because zombies do not ever listen to anyone. They do what they want to do and nothing more.
Bartleby took the job as a scrivener to try and find a purpose for his life, but soon after his boss abandons him, he ends up in jail. At this moment in his life he sees that he truly has nothing. His quest for purpose as a scrivener has failed. He is at the end of his life, not because he is old or sick physically, but because he has nothing to live for. While in jail he refuses to eat and soon he dies. His reason for living died a long time ago, though. His pursuit to be a scrivener was
Introduction Dr. Seuss once said, Don t give up. I believe in you all. A person s a person no matter how small. I believe education is a unique experience for every child who enters a classroom. Each child is unique and deserves a safe and secure classroom with a teacher full of passion for each child s education After classroom experience and observing many inspiring educators, I have created a personal philosophy that includes goals for my students, a method for enacting the goals, and assessing students goals to ensure proper development of each student. I have a desire to support each student to reach their fullest potential. I strongly believe in every student and my students will know that.
Goals for Student Learning The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will encourage them to push beyond Bloom s knowledge level. Students will be demonstrating critical thinking. They will be immersed in different activities where they are making meaning and knowledge by asking questions, researching, inventing, and interacting. Students will make connections with the outside world. Students will also think creatively in order to make meaning on their own. Instead of seeking the teacher, students will make models to answer their own questions. Students need to know the importance of education. If they know the reason behind learning, then they will more likely participate in learning. Participating in learning is where students are actively engaged in the lesson. Students should be listening, participating in discussion, and giving positive feedback to their classmates. I want my classroom to be more student centered than teacher centered. Enactment of Goals In order to achieve the goals for student learning, I will use a variety of teaching methods in my classroom. I believe all students learn differently. Therefore, differentiating instruction is imperative to reach all learning styles. Lunenburg (2014) discusses how Gardner discovered that all students exhibit all nine intelligences, but some of them are stronger than others. I want to be able to focus on their stronger areas so they learn more, however; I want to focus on their weaker areas so they can reach their full potential. I
The circus can be dated back to as far as 1782 in Paris, France, where people came to enjoy family friendly entertainment. The circus has always included tricks and stunts by not only people, but also highly trained animals. For decades now, people have considered the treatment of animal performances in the circus cruel and unjust. Protesters argue that animals are stripped from their native lands and forced to preform shows, meanwhile being treated harshly and abused by the human circus performers. Tigers, elephants, and other animals are trained and forced to entertain audiences by standing on their heads, jumping through hoops, and doing balance tricks. Spectators have considered this a spiteful treatment of animals, for it is often physically challenging and frightening to the animal performers. There have been reports of circus trainers abusing animal performers with whips, muzzles, and other painful tools. Today, protestors are fighting for animal s rights and against the use of animals in circuses . Protesters are objecting to animal circus performers, purely because of the belief that these animals are being forced to do impossible stunts, are in confined areas, and are abused with painful tools. One of the biggest frustrations of the protesters is the fact that circus animals are held in constant confinement. Protest organization The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) explains how circus animals in
With ICAO s leading, aviation safety has been developed internationally. As mentioned before, FAA and ICAO worked together to provide safer operations in the airports globally. ICAO published their Safety Management Manual(SMM) for providing acceptable safety performance throughout the world. Civil aviation authorities get benefit out of these manuals and shared data. SMS requirements provided by ICAO paved a path for every aviation organization to develop safety policies and safety procedures. In February 2009 European Aviation Safety Agency(EASA) met with FAA, ICAO and Transport Canada Civil Aviation(TCCA). The meeting was set to spread SMS throughout Europe and America. Participants agreed on sharing SMS knowledge and established Safety Management International Collaboration Group(SM ICG). SM ICG was set to meet semiannually and also with teleconferences to develop SMS with projects and research groups. Each organization works voluntarily for collaboration and affiliation to spread SMS knowledge all over the world. During establishment of SM ICG, it is agreed that there would be interference with stakeholders in the aviation industry. It is also agreed that CAST and ECAST which is European Commercial Aviation Safety Team would work collaboratively for more reliable data sharing. The current core membership of the SM ICG includes the Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA) of Spain, the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) of Brazil, the Civil Aviation Authority of
Suicide is an all round issue, sometimes an act of heroism, sometimes an act of selfishness, sometimes a brave choice in the face of pain, and sometimes an act of love. The statistics need to go down not up, in today s world it is tough, but people can get through it with the help of friends and family.
Suicide has always been a horrible thing in the United States and all over the world. In the world, suicide happens almost twice as often as murder ( Suicidal Thoughts or Threats Topic Overview. ). Keesh stood up to the men of the council because he didn t like how the villagers did not get fair share of the meat as his father wanted.
