The Effects Of Russian Culture On Military Operations
The Effects of Russian Culture on Military Operations in That Region
Introduction
Understanding a country s culture as it pertains to military operations is highly important in the modern era. Dictionary.com defines culture as the behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group . There are many examples throughout history that show the negative consequences of ignoring or misunderstanding the cultures of other countries. The most recent example is our long sustained operations in the Middle East. We have operated in the Middle East for the better part of two and a half decades. Through our own successes and failures, it is obvious how important cultural awareness can be. The mistakes we have made have created more animosity towards our military and our country in general. Over the last decade, our government has worked continuously to understand and teach those lessons to our service members. Through those efforts, we have been able to win over many of the hearts and minds that we lost during the early part of the 1990 s and 2000 s. Continuing these practices in the future, with countries such as Russia, will allow us to overcome many of the mistakes and problems we have encountered in the past.
This paper is the culmination of my own personal thoughts and in no way reflects any official views or opinions of the United States government. As you move from topic to topic, I hope you begin to understand how important it is to know a

Interview of Dr Kenneth Smith, 901 Patients First, Washington, MO 63090 (636) 239 7500 On September 8, 2015 I interviewed Dr Smith at his place of business in Washington, MO. Dr Smith gave the following information: Arlene Skornia and her husband Wilbur had been patients under his care for 10 20 years. He had overseen Arlene on several hospitalizations, and surgical recoveries, finding her and her husband to be intelligent, articulate people. He had met her sons but had little direct contact with them. Arlene had a number of complex medical issues and at the time of her admittance to Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO in August 2013 was being seen by several specialists to include her Oncologist, Dr Heuser. Dr Smith says it was Dr Heuser that actually had her admitted to the hospital on August 13, 2013. He learned about it when the hospital contacted his office to tell him one of his patients had been admitted thru the emergency room.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They felt she wasn t resting and he was concerned because she was pretty out of it when she did take the medication. He wanted to limit the medications, but one of the sons asked if she could take Benadryl to help her sleep. Dr Smith didn t want to give Benadryl as a sleeping aid so there were a number of discussions regarding her medication levels and the effects it was having. Because of her overall medical issues he decided to have Dr Moore, a pain management specialist review the case. It took a few days but the medications were eventually leveled out although not
Robert Fulghum Dinner Diction
Did you know there was a name for the nasty, icky, gross, unsanitary gunk that is in the bottom of your sink after you wash dishes? Well there is and the name of it is dinner dandruff just like the essay by Robert Fulghum. Fulghum wrote the essay Dinner Dandruff to entertain the reader along with relating to them about a problem that everyone that washes dishes has. In the essay he uses many different types of author s style but the main three are diction, syntax, and imagery. Diction is the author s word choice while syntax is the author s sentence choice, and imagery is where you can picture what s happening while reading the story. First of all the author uses diction in the essay to create the tone by using smaller words along with more proper words. For an example in the essay it states A rational, intelligent, objective person would say that this is simply a mixture of food particles too big to go down the the drain, composed of pits of protein, carbohydrates, fat, and fiber. This shows that Fulghum uses diction when he explains what dinner dandruff is made of by using a higher vocabulary like particles and carbohydrates it creates an effect on the essay. It makes the essay sound... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Syntax is the arrangement of words into sentences, Fulghum uses syntax often in the essay to show the importances of words and to create the humorous effect. One example of it would be Once, in school, I came across the french word ordure, and when the teacher told me it meant unspeakable filth I knew exactly to what is referred. We had it every night. In the bottom of our sink. The sentences have syntax and create an effect not only because of the diction in them but because the lengths of them and the structure. The first set of parentheses is much longer compared to the other too. That way the other ones are more dramatic and forces you to take a pause between them which ultimately helps set the
Executive Summary
The idea that the healthcare reimbursements should be linked to the quality outcomes and performance measures is central to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The legislation provides various reforms that either provide incentives to healthcare providers for better quality services and outcomes or reduce their payments if certain quality standards are unmet. This paper talks about the different reforms under PPACA, aimed at introducing payment variations based on quality of care such as, HospitalValue Based Purchasing (VBP) program, improvements to different quality reporting programs, payment adjustments for hospital acquired conditions (HAC), reduction of hospital readmission rates (HRRP), testing for ... Introduction
United States has no dearth of highly qualified, well trained doctors and still the US healthcare quality fails to meet the established industry benchmarks. Institute of Medicine s (IOM s) 2001 Report, Crossing the Quality Chasm , clearly states that the American healthcare delivery system is in need of a pivotal change. (Committee on Quality of Healthcare in America (Institute of Medicine), 2001). The exasperation level is continuously rising amongst both, the patients and the providers, and yet the problem of delivering and receiving high quality care remains unaffected. In order to address this problem of healthcare quality improvement and affordability, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA or Obamacare) was signed in the year 2010. The main aim behind PPACA is to improve healthcare quality and accessibility, at the same time keeping it cost efficient. To facilitate its goal PPACA is trying to achieve the cost effectiveness through reducing the Medicare price growth and regulating the quantity of care by encouraging evidence based practices. This new legislation supports the healthcare system in which the goals of both provider and the patients are better aligned with value as opposed to the quantity of services. Overall the reform under PPACA seeks to establish a direct link between the payments made to the healthcare
The Empire Of The Seljuk Ottoman Empire
One of the small Turkish nomadic tribes in Anatolia during the 13th century was a dynasty named after the ruler Osman, the Ottomans. This small state emerged in Anatolia during the breakdown of the empire of the Seljuk Turks. The Ottomans quickly became an undeniable force and ended all other Turkish dynasties. The Ottoman Empirebecame one of the largest and longest lasting empires in the world, ruling the majority of the Middle East, northern Africa and southeastern Europe for over 600 years until its eventual fall in 1922.
The Ottomans were one of the numbers of Turkish tribes that migrated from Central Asia. Initially they followed a primitive shamanistic religion. Their contacts with various tribes led to the introduction of Islam and they acquired their greatest combat tradition, that of the ghazi warrior. The first period of the Ottoman history was characterized by almost continuous territorial expansion. The Ottoman dominion spread out from a small Anatolian principality to cover a major amount of land in Middle East and southeastern Europe.
Following the final defeat of the Seljuk Empire in 1293, Osman, the founder of the Ottoman dynasty, led his principality to take over Byzantine Bithynia in northwestern Anatolia, commanded the ghazis against the Byzantines. Osman and his successors concentrated their attacks on Byzantine territories bordering the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara to the west. The Ottomans took advantage of the decay of the Byzantine frontier
Serial Killers And The Social Learning Theory Essay
Serial killers are usually made because of a significant event/events that may have happened during their childhood. Albert DeSalvo may be one of those serial killers. He grew up in an abusive household. He was taught at an early age about sex and physical abuse. This behavior demonstrates the characteristics of the social learningtheory. This paper will go into great detail on Albert DeSalvo s family background and the crimes that he committed in his lifetime, give a brief description of social learning theory, discuss differential association, and show how Albert DeSalvo and the social learning theory are related. Albert Henry DeSalvo was born on September 3, 1931 in Chelsea, Massachusetts (Vronsky, 2004, p. 76). His mother married his father, who was an alcoholic that was arrested numerous times, when she was fifteen (Vronsky, 2004). Albert DeSalvo s father had beaten the children repeatedly and often forced his wife to have sexual relations in front of them (Evans, 2003, p. 549). These acts had a major effect on Albert s life and personality. According to Vronsky (2004), Albert DeSalvo was once sold to a farmer in Maine along with his two sisters for nine dollars (p. 76). There is no record of what happened while they were on the farm. His mother divorced his father after he was put in jail when Albert DeSalvo was twelve (Vronsky, 2004). According to Vronsky (2004), Albert felt alone as a child and did not allow himself to become close to anyone except for his
Superman, Spiderman, Iron Man, Batman; these are some examples of the modern day hero. Most call this form of a hero a Super Hero. In the early nineteenth century, the popular hero of the day was the romantic hero. Mary Shelly gives a great picture of this hero in her novel Frankenstein. She uses Victor Frankenstein, the creator of the famous Frankenstein s Monster as her character which embodies the traits of a romantic hero. The model was relatively new; however, Christopher Marlowehad written a character in the early fifteenth century which embodied the same characteristics. These attributes of romanticismin the form of a hero are seen in both Mary Shelly s Frankenstein and Christopher Marlowe s Dr. Faustus in very much the same... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this chase, he says that he has been possessed by a frenzy and that he was reserved for vengeance (Shelly 150). Clearly Victor is obsessed with locating and executing his creation. This particular obsession leads to further mental madness on his part and also to his death even after he is rescued by Robert Walton in the Arctic Sea. In Marlowe s masterpiece, Faustus is obsessed with learning. In and of itself, that is not a bad thing; however, this obsession with learning soon turns to obsession with the dark arts, magic, and the devil. He exclaims that he will live in speculation of this dark art as long as he can or till Mephistopheles return (Marlowe 14). He exclaims his obsession in his lair after he learns that he can use the dark arts to summon spirits. Later in the book, the Good Angel implores Faustus to lay that damned book aside and to gaze not upon it (Marlowe 55). The Good Angel is trying to cure Faustus of his obsession but ultimately he does not succeed. Faustus s obsession eventually leads to his famed deal with the devil in which he sells his soul to Lucifer for 24 years of Mephistopheles s power. This deal is clearly detrimental to his relationship with Christ and its roots trace back to his obsession with learning. When Frankenstein and Faustus experience the Internal battles that all romantic heroes face, Shelly and Marlowe are trying to show that there is a fine line between flawed and completely evil and that
