Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

1. Choose a public health topic for a specific population group and/or age groupThere are a multitude of public health topics that are affected by policy and intervention. One disease that is extremely prevalent in society is Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM), which is primarily affected by individuals between forty to sixty years of age (Olokoba, Obateru, Olokoba, 2012).

2. Provide a brief description of the topic. Discuss the magnitude of the problem (e.g., trends in incidence /prevalence, policies, etc.) and its public health significance. Type 2 diabetes mellitusis considered the most common form of diabetes, considering that this form accounts for 90 95% of cases (Simon, 2002). With this type of diabetes, the body does not have the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case, most individuals who are afflicted with this disease are between the ages of forty to sixty, which may be a result of certain social determinants. There are five main social determinants that influence the prevalence and incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The first socio ecological determinant is culture and community support, which pertains to the individual s culture and how they view T2DM (Clark Utz, 2014). Often, in this age group, if the community does not provide support and if there is a negative culture perception of the disease, there will not be a high number of individuals that partake in self care for T2DM. Another factor is access to medical care, which implies that if people do not have access to care, he or she will not be able to screen for T2DM, or receive treatment to control the disease (Clark Utz, 2014). Education is a crucial factor, since there is a direct link between educational attainment and improved health outcomes (Clark Utz, 2014). In this age group, if individuals are uneducated about the disease, they are most likely unaware of the risk factors and treatment options for T2DM. Another factor is economic stability, which has a direct correlation with health outcomes (Clark Utz, 2014). Thus, if a person is of higher socio economic status, he, or she in this age group, is more likely to obtain medical

The Sales Of Sg Will Total $ 425200 Essay

Budget

The sales of SG will total $425,200 with $93,600 from subscriptions and $331,600 from sales of gardens. Revenue for year two raises to $756,800 with $280,800 from subscriptions and $476,000 from sales of gardens. Revenue of the third year increases to $1,109,800 with sales of gardens increasing to $595,000 and subscription revenue to $514,800. Year one to two experiences a 77.8% growth and year two to three experiences 46.7% growth. These numbers are reasonable based on how diligently SG invests in marketing and sales. The reason growth fades from 77.8% down to 46.7% is due to the unlikeliness that extremely high and consistent growth will be sustainable for long periods of time. The three largest expenses of SG include marketing and selling costs, material costs, and labor costs. The capital spent by the business per square foot is $9.24 (corrected from the original pricing plan), $3 per square foot for a contractor, $3 per square foot of cement, and $3.24 per square foot for sales. Since 17,000 square feet are predicted to be remodeled in the first year, marketing expenses for year one total $55,080. Expenses in the second and third years total $110,160 and $137,700 respectively. For contractors and materials, the first year costs are $51,000 each, $102,000 each for the second year, and $127,500 each for the third year.

The capital needed to fund SG to the point where it would generate positive income would be $3,500,000 (which is the approximate sum of all fixed

Css And Cascading Style Sheet

CSS or Cascading Style Sheet is a language used to format a document written in a markup language such as HTML. It is used primarily to format elements such as colour, font, layout, and positioning. CSS can be used in three different ways. External, embedded and inline. Each of which I will expand on later. CSS was initially released in December 1996 and has evolved through 4 levels, CSS 1, 2, 2.1 and 3.
CSS gives web designers the ability to create rules and apply these rules to multiple different elements within a website. In the case of External CSS, this way of formatting being completely separate from the design means any change required by the client can be altered on the style sheet and will effect every instance within the site where the CSS is being used. I will expand more on the three types of CSS later in this presentation. CSS use can lead to faster page downloads [1] Most web browsers will load rules from the CSS once and then cache the data to use when each page is loaded. This means using CSS in websites can lead to lighter page loads [1], meaning as the browser is simply pulling information from the cache, the web pages will load much faster then without. This will therefore result in lower requirements from the server side. Since the majority of CSS is completely separate to the content of the website, making small, spread changes or troubleshooting any design problems becomes simple. It allows the designer to control every visual aspect of the

1. What moral issues does the Pinto case raise?

The moral issues about the Ford Pinto is that they take their profit is more important than human life. They also did not inform the consumer about the facts of the Pinto. Lastly, they also lobbied the safety of the car to lowest standard (Shaw, Barry amp; Sansbury 2009, pp 97 99). 44 words

2. Suppose Ford officials were asked to justify their decision. What moral principles do you think they would invoke? Assess Ford s handling of the Pinto from the perspective of each of the moral theories discussed in this chapter. Egoism. Egoism is the closest moral principle for the Ford Pinto. Because Egoism can be explain as self interest and have a long term interest, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only morally relevant matter is whether Ford gave equal consideration to the interests of each affected party. Do you think Ford did this? Utilitarians means measuring overall happiness (Shaw, Barry amp; Sansbury 2009, pp 64 70). In this topic, Ford only care about his own profit and never care about other s life. Ford even calculated how much it cost for a human life. The damage for society and human life is not acceptable in Utilitarianism. (44 words)

4. Is cost benefit analysis a legitimate tool? What role, if any, should it play in moral deliberation? Critically assess the example of cost benefit analysis given in the case study. Is there anything unsatisfactory about it? Could it have been improved upon in some way? Yes, cost benefit is a legitimate tool. Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) estimates and totals up the equivalent money value of the benefits and costs to the community of projects to establish whether they are worthwhile (An Introduction to Cost Benefit Analysis). But cost benefit analysis is just for calculating the benefit of the company, in a mathematical way. It shouldn t play in moral deliberation, there is no way to calculate human life or we can say as the potential that human have. We also can see that there is unsatisfactory about the cost benefit analysis simply by measuring only the benefits of Ford it s own. In this case, cost benefit analysis should improve by adding other stakeholder benefit to produce a win win

Vietnam War Domino Effects

Over the course of history America has been involved with multiple wars fought in many different parts of the world, giving America unfortunate experiences each time. But the Vietnam War was the one that gave America the biggest conflict due to the fact of how many different problems and negative outcomes it gave to the country. The Vietnam War started in the mid 1950 s (November 1st 1955) in the countries of North and South Vietnam. It was a war started from North Vietnam attempting to spread and take over South Vietnam, this led to the US then getting involved to attempt to prevent a spread of communism and more importantly prevent the domino effect that happened previously in WWII. There were two main sides to the war, North Vietnam which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Towards the beginning (JFK) the president who started to go indepth with the Vietnam War was assassinated, resulting in Lyndon Johnson to start to get more involved with the Vietnam War. He started to send more and more troops to Vietnam and having the government lie to the people to help gain more in numbers. Instead of trying to find ways to prevent warfare and destruction when the Gulf of Tolkien Incident came he used this as a way to wage war with North Vietnam (even though North Vietnam never fired against the United States). One thing that made a large impact on the United States was the fact that this was the first war to be televised, everyone saw what went on, including the truth. When the Tet offensive was launched against the South Vietnamese, everyone in the United States could see that America wasn t really winning the war. This lead to the draft and a large upset in the general public and a lot of riots from the people because people didn t want to be apart of this war now more than ever. When more problems started to occur to Lyndon Johnson he decided to come out publicly and say that he will not be running for president in the next election. This started to give the people a feeling that they felt they have won, and believed anything was now possible. When Lyndon Johnson s presidency was over Richard Nixon won the election and one of the first things he started was the major situation that was growing on in Vietnam. Although the first few years in office he still was battling in Vietnam, in 1973 he signed the Paris Peace Accords which was the treaty that ended America s participation in Vietnam. This was seen as the first war that the United States has lost, leading to Nixon to be the first president to lose a war. The final problem that lead to this war being one of the biggest conflicts the United States has

The Stories of Suffering During the Balkan War Explained...

In the 1990s, war engulfed the Balkans. Part of the purpose was a method called ethnic cleansing and in that cleansing, thousands of women were raped and killed by Serb military men. Part one of the Women War Peace special, titled I Came to Testify follows the process of the international court of law as 16 women take the stand against the general during the war, Ratko Mladic. The purpose of this documentary is to tell the stories of those who suffered during the war and lived to tell their story and get justice for the heinous acts committed against them. I believe that this documentary was very well done in showing the 16 women stand up for themselves for the first time and break their silence years after the war. They only spoke,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One thing I liked about this documentary was that it followed the stories of the women in the Balkans and also had a male giving his story, which was interesting since the documentary was about the torture of women. I think this added to the objectivity of the documentary because it showed that they were getting the story from both males and females, since ethnic cleansing happened to everyone. This documentary seems to point to the idea that the Serb men thought they were superior to women, and they thought it was perfectly justified to rape the women, when in fact, they are not superior to men in any way and the women did not deserve this treatment. One interesting part of the trial in the documentary was that, when the wartime general was put on the stand, he claimed that he unwillingly raped a woman because she was hinting at it herself, rather than him advancing towards her. The lawyer questioned him, however, and was able to get the real story out, but he still attempted to turn this on to the women. This disgusted me because in a court where women are standing up for their rights against a man who is known to be guilty, he had the courage to even try and blame the woman, who he took from her home, killed her family, and threatened her, by saying she made advances at him. This documentary showed the terrible actions done to women by the Serb military men in the Balkans during the war and ethnic cleansing. It showed the women standing up for justice

Hospital s Measure Quality, The Potential Cost And...

Memorial Hospital is a large hospital that is privately owned. Memorial hospital provides services that are basic for most large hospital facilities similar in the area, like lab, x rays, emergency room, intensive and cardiac care units and psychiatric ward. One goal the hospital has is paying close attention to each patient, by offering quality care at an affordable price. In this essay we will discuss ways that the hospital might measure quality, the potential cost and failure of quality for Memorial Hospital and discuss each measure, discuss ideals or techniques from TQM that Janice could use to help Memorial ideals on providing quality healthcare as well as analyze the methods memorial could use to assess the quality of healthcare it is providing. Memorial Hospital is not trying to compete with the other hospital in the area by having all the up to date equipment, they just want to offer affordable quality healthcare. The quality of the hospital and patient care will set them aside from all of the other hospitals. The hospital can begin to improve their quality by asking the customer (patients) evaluate the quality of care during their stay at the hospital. This could be done by follow up phone call to the patient s home once they leave the hospital, or a short survey, before leaving the hospital. Tracking the patient s complaints and trying to resolve them. If the customer makes a formal complaint, by giving their names, then the issues can handles and offer the

Cardiovascular System Analysis

The cardiovascular system is an organ system that allows blood to circulate and is in charge of transporting oxygen, as well as carbon dioxide, hormones, nutrients, and cell waste items all over the body (Pironet, et al., 2016). This system helps to regulate body temperature, maintain homeostasis, and fight diseases. The cardiovascular systemis made up of the heart, bloodvessels, blood and plasma of the blood, and cells. The circulatory system is kept working by the heart. The heart is made, for the most part, out of cardiac muscle. Carrying nutrients, wastes, gases, and chemical signals across the body are some of the functions of the heart. Four chambers comprise the heart, which are two atria and two ventricles (Pironet, et. al.,

Just a normal Tuesday and I was driving to the world famous World Trade Centre (where I worked as head security). Whilst I was driving I had something in the back of my mind; had I forgotten something? The feeling persisted. They stared, I thought what has happened, had I forgotten something? The donuts! The lads decided Peter would go instead. By now it was about 8:40am and I had finished my work and went to go find out where Peter was. Apparently he rang and said the shop had run out so he had to go to a place out of town. Suddenly, there was a noise it was as loud as thunder. As I was working my way to the top floor, rushing to the top floor, I heard screaming; so much screaming. I was running up the stairs.... I woke, my head was all... It was my last hope; my co worker (Richard Jones) with a few others. They ran up to me and picked up the rock from off my leg. They pulled me up and, crash! I fell to the floor my left leg was impossible to walk on. So they helped me up again and helped me walk with my arms round there shoulders. Luckily when the plane hit I was only on floor 26 so we made our way to another staircase which was assessable, we rushed down the stairs, firemen ran up to us and carried me out. While I was sat down trying to recover my breath and the ambulance woman was bandaging my leg I saw my sons mate James (who is in the fire service.)I shouted him, so he came running over to me. I asked him Is he in there? (My son) He answered yes. At this time everything just went quiet above the Screaming, shouting and the roar of people talking and crying. For that moment thinking of what will happen to him if he doesn t get out; everything went silent. Quickly jumping of the ambulance, walking towards the entrance where I came out of. As soon as I got up, I felt the pain hit me straight away; subsequently I fell to one knee. Then I waited for a moment then I gradually worked my way up onto both feet, I felt the pain hit me straight away again it was indescribable but I carried on and broke through the pain barrier. People tried to stop me but I pushed them away and carried on. When I entered the building it was unnerving, there was a revolting smell of fuel and smoke which choked me and I

On the Soul by Aristotle

Analysis

1.Classification

a.Aristotle s On the Soul is a treatise.

2.Summary

a.Aristotle discusses the nature of the soul of not only humans but all living things, and as to why they are considered living. The question surrounding the work is what makes the soul? To answer this Aristotle concludes that the soul is natural and entelecheia or being at work staying itself .

and material [for something else]. (412a10)

d.So, everything that lives and has a soul at all necessarily has the nutritive soul from birth and up to death... (434a 20)

3.Argument

a....harmony is some ratio or putting together of things that have been mixed or joined and the soul cannot be either of these. (407b 30)

i.Argument: Some people define the soul to be a harmony or as a blending of contraries, but that s not what the soul is. ii. Analysis: Aristotle argues that the soul isn t harmony rather that there are several souls that make up the body that work in harmony.

b.the soul could not be a body, since it is not the body that is in an underlying thing, but rather the body has being as an underlying thing and material [for something else]. (412a10)

i.Argument: The soul is not a body. ii. Analysis: Aristotle is arguing that the soul cannot be a body because the soul does not have self nourishing abilities only natural bodies do. The soul is instead everlasting so it has the ability of being at work staying itself.

Icarus As A Mythical Creature Called Icarus

Part 3 8. Beatty had compared Montag to a mythical creature called Icarus. Icarus is a guy in Greek Mythology that got curious and flew too close to the sun with his wax wings, this caused his wings to melt and him falling straight to his death. Beatty had compared Montag to Icarus because both of the characters were curious. They were both curious and got too close to their objects of curiosity, which ultimately destroys them. They were both warned beforehand, and they both chose to ignore those warnings and proceed on. For Montag, he got involved with books, and was about to be burned like Icarus, however he escaped. Montag had his normal life ripped from him and thrown into another world. 9. In the story, Montag had killed Beatty. While he did that, he realized that Beatty had wanted to die. Beatty had wanted to die because he was miserable which is not how he normally acts. It has been hinted in the story that Beatty may have possibly read books before and knows what is going on with the society. Beatty had said that books were empty and are not worth to read it. This shows that Beatty knows that the society he lives in was not as good as it seems, however he did not want to go against the government, so he just does as he was told. This makes him miserable because he may not like burning books that much, but burning books is his job and he has to do it. To die is sometimes the quickest way out of all of your problems, however it is also the most cowardly. 10. It
