"HELP has been a true lifeline for me as a domestic helper. They educated me on my rights, supported my mental health journey, and fought tirelessly to secure a fair settlement. This motivated me to become a community leader to spread the word to the rest of migrant domestic workers that there is an organisation out there ready to help and empower you. ”
“The HELP team was extremely experienced and helpful to me and to my helper. They offered valuable information to enable my helper to take the necessary steps while navigating her issues”

Dear friends,
As I reflect on the past year, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude and admiration for your unwavering commitment to empowering migrant domestic workers in Hong Kong.
Your support inspires us to continue working for this passionate and dedicated community.
The past year had its share of challenges and triumphs for migrant domestic workers.
Many continue to face overwhelming obstacles such as job instability, unsafe working conditions, and barriers to basic rights and social services.
But through your generosity, advocacy, and solidarity, we were able to provide a lifeline of support and empower these resilient individuals
There is Catalina, who found the courage to share her mental health struggles after discovering our mental wellness programs.
With your continued support, we will further strengthen our programs, forge new partnerships, and tirelessly champion the dignity and well-being of this integral yet undervalued community in Hong Kong.
Together, we can create a more inclusive Hong Kong, where everyone, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive.

Dear HELP Community,
When I first joined HELP in 2017, the organisation was at a turning point
We were looking to become an independent charity, to chart our own course and expand our impact.
I was honoured to be part of the team that helped establish HELP as the vibrant non-profit it is today
Shortly after moving to Hong Kong, I was introduced to the wonderful community of migrant domestic workers who were helping so many families.
But I was surprised to learn that many were struggling to make ends meet and facing unfair treatment.
It was then that I knew I wanted to use my voice and position to
support and empower this community - and that's what led me to volunteer with HELP.
Looking back on our journey, I am incredibly proud of how far we've come We've remained steadfast in carrying on our founder's legacy while evolving our approach to better serve the communities we work with.
Our new ambitious, innovative vision is focused on expanding our reach, deepening our impact, and creating positive, sustainable change
I'm excited to see where this next chapter takes us. Thank you all for being part of this journey, and I look forward to the important work ahead.

COVID-19's fifth wave in 2022 posed a significant challenge for migrant domestic workers. As infection rates surged, many COVID-positive workers were abruptly fired and left to fend for themselves.
Despite the challenges of 2022 being the first year of HELP's operations as an independent charity, with limited resources at our disposal, we quickly responded by establishing a comprehensive support network to assist these vulnerable individuals.

Poor awareness of rights and responsibilities can hinder the ability to negotiate a fair contract
Language and cultural barriers may lead to a breakdown of the employment relationship Abuse, breach of contract, poor mental wellbeing, isolation, and limited healthcare are familiar issues.
The sudden end of a contract may result in homelessness, difficulties finding a new employer, legal conflict, financial and mental health struggles.

Financial statement for the year ended March 31, 2023
“In my early years in Hong Kong, I heard that HELP for Domestic Workers is a hand to lean on, an organisation that can give support for helpers pertaining to employment.
I’ve attended workshops and programmes like community leadership and peer-group support, talks about termination of contracts and about our rights, mental health orientations, volunteering and outreach program
Such programs help me gain insights and understanding about who I am as a migrant worker, what my limitations are, and my obligation to others and to my community.”
