The greenhouse gases stay in the atmosphere and prevent the suns warming rays to leave the Earth. So the sun's warming rays stay inside the Earth increasing its average temperature. The burning of fossil fuels is a big part of life because it powers automobiles, heats and cools homes, and generates electricity. As the idea of global warming becomes a more avidly discussed topic, we wanted to determine the truth on whether it is actually occurring. Therefore, we decided to complete a study where researchers analyzed the average minimum, average maximum, and average mean temperatures from the years 1948 to 2017, a period of 69 years. In each of the graphs constructed, there is a positive correlation between average temperature and years, meaning that as the years increased so did the temperatures.

In figure 1, mimimum temperatures historically start out at 6 В°C to 9 В°C, but on average the data points tend to remain around 8 В°C. However, as we progress through the timeline these temperatures begin to slowly rise. Instead, they now are between 8 В°C...show more content...

Global warming can also be noted by the outward physical effects taking place. The polar ice sheets are melting at a rapid rate, carbon dioxide emissions are at an all time high, and the rise in sea level to mention a few (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 2014). Specificially, temperature rise has not only been noted in this study, but in numerous other publications on global warming and rise in surface temperature. In this case, researchers chose to take the average of each of these variables as it would provide the most accurate results. In other studies, the highest mean temperature on Earth was recorded to be in 2010 (Hansen et al. 2010), which coincides with the idea that our study proves. I have a feeling when people watch this movie they have more of an idea about global warming. When Al Gore explains how global warming is affecting the world as a whole and shows evidence of the ice cracking, it makes you realize global warming isn't really something we should mess around with. I cannot recommend nuclear power as an alternative energy resource because many people have experienced accidents and atomic bombs. However, there are other alternatives such as wind power, tidal power, andsolar power. Many people believe that these are expensive. Why not calculate the cost of global warming into the expense of using fossil fuels? Which is cheaper? In some industrialized countries, those experimental power sources have succeeded as profitable solutions. If we impose taxes on fossil fuels that will match the expenses we are going to pay to restore our planet, people will be eager to change their use of fossil fuels to new alternative energy resources.

In many industrialized nations, they do not collect bottles, cans and newspapers for the purpose of recycling. Climate change can be defined as a significant change in the "average weather" of any given region sustained in the long–term and can be caused by Earth 's dynamic processes, external forces including variations in sunlight intensity, and also by human activities (USEPA, 2014). The burning of fossil fuels such as coal and oil, and deforestation over the last 200 years has caused the concentrations of heat–trapping "greenhouse gases" to increase significantly in our atmosphere. These gases prevent heat from escaping to space. Greenhouse gases are necessary in our lives as they help in keeping the planet 's surface warmer than it would otherwise be. But, as the concentrations of these gases continue to increase in the atmosphere, the Earth 's temperature is climbing above past levels (USEPA, 2014).

It has been observed through various researches that in the last century, average temperatures across the globe increased by over 1.3В°F with an increase of more than two times in the Arctic. The Global Climate Change Debate – How do I know what to believe?

Introduction:

Climate change has been a topic of debate for decades. Scientists support climate change is happening with hard scientific evidence whereas the people who oppose climate change have evidence which is mainly opinion–based. This report will cover what climate change is, why climate change is happening, the science that supports climate change, the different views and opinions on climate change, the effects of climate change around the world and particularly the effects in New Zealand, my opinion on climate change and my conclusion on the issue.

The most basic definition for climate change is a change in the average weather conditions and this has always been a part of the Earth's natural process however recently climate change has been used to refer to the change caused by human activities, this is known as Human–Induced Climate Change. Human–Induced Climate Change began after the Industrial Revolution but it didn't have a large effect until after the 1950s in which human activities greatly accelerated. Global warming is causing a negative effect on the whole planet and we all need to do something to stop it. The climate is changing frequently and is making the planet hotter in some parts and in other parts it's making it colder. There are two factors affecting global warming. The first types of factors are natural factors like changes in the solar output, changes in the earth's orbit, the green house effect and aerosols. The change in the solar output is the amount of energy radiating from the earth?s sun is not constant. The change of orbit of our planet affects where the sun?s energy is received on earth. And since these gases warm the planet they are called the green house effect. The second types of factors are human factors like enhancing the greenhouse effect, land use change, atmospheric aerosols and burning of fossil fuels for energy. We are all enhancing the greenhouse effect by burning fossil fuels such as coal, oil, etc. The carbon dioxide that is dumped in the atmosphere is at s high rate right now. It?s more than it can be withdrawn or absorbed by the oceans or plants. The carbon dioxide is a main factor of climate change. Also the use of land with the replacement of forests with asphalt or concrete for roads. This alters the way the earth?s surface reflects the sunlight and releases the heat. By reducing the world?s forests and woodlands that will cause a tropical deforestation. Atmospheric aerosols are not the same ones as aerosols. They are from agriculture and industrial activities. They are removed from the atmosphere by gravity and rainfall but they still affect the radiation balance in the atmosphere by causing a thinner atmosphere. Climate changes all around the world are due to global warming. Heat waves and periods of unusually warm weather lead to heat related illness and death in urban areas and specially the old people, the newborns, the ill and the poor.
