Quotes For Agamemnon
CLYTEMNESTRA: I, of all people, know what it is like to be treated as a woman. To be treated like a women means to be seen as gullible, childish, dismissed, stereotyped, and to be constantly talked to in a condescending, patronizing tone. I knew exactly how I was treating Agamemnon, I was only treating him the way he treated me. Griselda, do you not see the injustice in this? He murdered our daughter for the sake of triumph and no one questioned him, however, when I murdered him, the chorus was outraged! The chorus accused me of being "mad with ambition, shrilling pride" (654).
IPHIS: You may be mad with ambition, but at least you are not just mad. Despite what others may claim, I'd be better off falling inlove with a bull than another women. Get

In the poem, Juliet expresses three main traits: caution, passion, and loyalty. Juliet is extremely cautious when it comes to Romeus as she worries that his intentions are misguided. She demonstrates this when she proclaims, "But if by wanton love and by unlawful suit You think in ripest years to pluck my maidenhood's dainty fruit, You are beguiled." (Lines 86–88). However, once Romeus assures her of his love for her, her loyalty can be clearly seen. Juliet vows that she will remain loyal by stating, "Both me and mine I will all whole to you betake, And following you whereso you go, my father's house forsake." (Lines 84–85). Essentially, she would abandon her family to be with him. Finally, her passion ties in with her desires. The author notes that "of both that she rejoicГ©d more" and she says, "For you, mine own, once dead, what joy should I have here?" These quotes not only demonstrate her passion for Romeus, but it also proves that above all else, she desires to be...show more content...
This is particularly apparent as he continuously and secretly visits Juliet late at night at her house, despite the dangers. His actions help prove that his only desire is to be with Juliet. He wishes for a life that "in it [Juliet] might I love, you honour, serve and please." ( Line 513). However, their situation holds them back from truly expressing their love for one another. They are star crossed lovers with families that disapprove of their love to the extent that they are described as each other's "deadly foes." Overall, these characters help illustrate the main theme: romantic love. As a result of their actions and dialogue, they depict the passion and yearning that characterizes young love. Additionally, they prove that love is an overpowering force that transcends rational thinking and other emotions or values. I believe that as an effect of external forces, their love may be will be impaired which would further the

As someone who can look at a blank paper for hours at a time and not have a single idea on what to say, drafting can be one of the most crucial steps in writing. It allows you to have many different ideas before setting your mind on one solid point. Drafting allows you to release all your ideas onto the paper, no matter how good or bad it is. It makes writing 7 pages of just pure nonsense, okay, giving yourself enough to work with later on when editing. It can also help you develop your ideas into more solid pieces, by taking specific parts and allowing you to elaborate on them. My Favorite quote from Anne Lamott's Shitty First Drafts is "For me and most of the other writers I know, writing is not rapturous. In fact, the only way I can get Get

They say greed is the root of all evil. This is especially shown in Macbeth, the desire of power becomes an apparent symbol throughout the play. How does a man loyal to the king turn so easily from the slight temptation of the crown. After the murder of Duncan Macbeth is seen picturing an imaginary dagger, "Is this a dagger which I see before me,/ The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee." (2.1.33–34 Macbeth) Macbeth isn't even seen remorseful for the cruel deed he just commits; to a man who he swore an oath of loyalty to. Macbeth shows signs of greed and gluttony as the infatuation of power settles in him throughout the plot.
Macbeth first shows signs of change when he becomes Thane of Cawdor. While Macbeth first meets the witches they tell him he will be king and he wishes to know more. "Why/upon this blasted heath you stop our way/ with such a prophetic greeting? Speak I charge you." (1.3.77–78) When Macbeth hears he will be king he becomes instantly curious and sparks a interest on the prospect of becoming king. This is when he first begins to show the signs of his greed. This is shown even further when Macbeth is told he was Thane of Cawdor and acts hopeful, "If chance will have me king,/ why chance may crown me" (1.3.143–144) Knowing the witches said he would soon become Thane of Cawdor now Macbeth has a purpose and a drive knowing what's next in store for him. This is shown within his letter to Macbeth "that though might've not lose the dues of rejoicing, by being integral of what greatness is sponsored thee/" (1.5.8–9) Here he states to lady macbeth he doesn't want to waste his chance and lose out on the greatness of becoming king. All of these quotes show Macbeth slip to the side of darkness by wanting to become king.
After murdering Duncan Macbeth starts to change into a pathological manipulator. He is shown doing this when he kills the guards to frame them for the murder of Duncan "Oh yet I do repent me of my fury, that did kill them." (2.3.97) Macbeth is already planning ahead for the suspects by killing the people who would most likely be accused for the murder, and to think just days ago he was the king's right hand man. Macbeth is able to convince Macduff that he murdered

Quotation:
1."Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending." –Maria Robinson
Explanation: Our lives are full of ups and downs. Often we get so caught up with the downs in our lives that we fall into depression. We feel that everything in life is falling apart. You regret the choices you've made in the past and feel that you have failed in life. Understand that you cannot go back in time and undo choices you've made but that you can stop yourself from repeating the past by making smarter decisions so that you can have a better future.

4."The heart has its reasons which reason knows not." –Blaise Pascal
Explanation: The heart, the organ capable of storing love can also reason. Its reasoning makes all the sense in the world to the heart and to the heart's owner when the owner first hears it. It's the reasoning that makes you fall in love at first sight. It's the reasoning that somehow makes it so hard to let somebody go even though you have no logical reason to want that person to stay.
Reaction: The quote means that you have to listen to your heart. Just like in love, you just only knew that you love that person but you don't know why. We fall in love in a mutual weirdness and called it love.

Persuading Poison
"Unreasonable haste is the direct road to error"(Moliere). This quote mirrors a theme in William Shakespeare's play, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. This play is about two lovers from opposing families which make a series of reckless decisions which lead to the death of many people including themselves. In William Shakespeare's play, he conveys through the motif of hasty decisions that, while the quick decisions which are caused by emotions may seem appealing, ultimately these decisions have repercussions and lead to violence of others. Lust, hatred, and sadness are all emotions which have immense consequences when they guide one's decisions.
The emotion of lust causes one to do rash decisions that lead to dangerous outcomes. For instance,...show more content...
Romeo and Juliet both suicide after seeing each other dead. After Romeo hears about Juliet'sdeath, he goes to her tomb to see her one last time and kiss her before he suicides. "Here's to my love. O true apothecary,/Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die"(V.iii.119–120). Romeo should have overlooked his quick thoughts of suicide, and should have realized how much he still had to live for. The aftermath of this action was that both Romeo and Juliet both end up dead in the final tragedy. After Juliet sees Romeo dead, she decides to kill herself with a dagger. "Yea, noise? Then I'll be brief. O, happy dagger,/This is thy sheath. There rust, and let me die"(V.iii.174–175). This evidence is an example of the consequences that can occur after a hasty, sad–driven decision. If Romeo did not suicide while under the influence of his emotions, both Romeo and Juliet would have lived, and the ultimate, final tragedy of the play would have been avoided, but instead, Romeo's emotions misguided him to choose the awful decision of suicide. These actions reveal how quickly sadness leads to horrendous repercussions due to the actions that it

Hasty Quotes In Romeo And Juliet
Romeo And Juliet Love Quotes
The play written by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, explores the theme of love, which engages the modern audience. Shakespeare uses different language devices and quotes when describing love, from Romeo and Juliet, to family love and forced love. This romantic tragedy is about young star–crossed lovers that are stuck in a long lasting feud between their two families, the Montagues and Capulets, fate ends up causing them to commit suicide in despair of their love. The play empathises the fine line between love and hate but love is the driving theme throughout this romantic tragedy. Romeo and Juliet's love is a mix between passionate, obsessive and romantic love. "But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, Who is already sick and pale with grief, That thou her maid art far more fair than she. Be not her maid, since she is envious. Romeo's infatuation for Juliet has made him forget about his first love with Rosaline, makes you wonder how easily Romeo falls in and out of love. Shakespeare uses metaphors to explain the love Romeo has for Juliet by addressing her as the 'sun' and the 'stars' and how the goddess of the moon and patron of virgins, is even jealous of Juliet's radiance. The use of metaphors lets the audience, use their imagination to create an image of Juliet's beauty. Romeo's love for Juliet is passionate and obsessive, but the love between her and her father is much Get more content
The Great Gatsby Catherine Quotes Analysis
The connection between these two quotes is that they both involve Isabella acting selfish and deceitful toward Catherine, and they show how Catherine responds to the realities surrounding her. When Catherine makes plans with Miss Tilney Isabella tries to selfishly convince Catherine to cancel her plans due to her controlling and jealous nature, which to Catherine, "[appears] to her ungenerous and selfish, regardless of everything but her own gratification (67)." This quote is important because this is the first time Catherine really acknowledges the downfalls and incredibly selfish nature of her friend, and it also shows that Catherine is starting to see her world for what it is instead of skewing reality to fit the traits of one of the novels she has read. Although, Catherine starts to develop this skill while in Bath, she still has a hard time reading people and has the tendency to assume incorrectly about her peers....show more content...
She wished Isabella had... not looked so pleased at the sight of Captain Tilney. How strange that she could not perceive his admiration (100–101)!" This shows how blinded Catherine is by her admiration of others and unsureness of herself, and it shows how Catherine really views the world as a story in which people can only act in a way that fits into a gothic novel. Through these quotes the reader is able to more easily see how Austen playfully makes fun of the gothic novel and how the gothic novel skews Catherine's view of what reality

Julius Caesar Quotes
Elvin Mallory Mrs. Milling 10th Lit 23 February 2017 "Et tu, Brute?В° then fall Caesar". (1.2.27–28) Those are the words of Caesar after his best friend betrayed him by killing him with a group of conspirators. Perhaps the conspirators had a valid reason for their justifiable homicide of the Roman leader. Caesar was a "serpent's egg", so Brutus saved Rome by killing him. In the last moments of his life Caesar had the worst feeling of betrayal. His best friend Brutus along with a group of conspirators stabbed and killed him. They had good reason for killing Caesar saying had become to ambitious and was also weak. As you can see in the text "...Give me some drink, Titinius, as a sick girl. Ye Gods!". Caesar may have just wanted what was best for Rome and it's people. He cared about the people of Rome as shown when Antony was speaking at his funeral "When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept" (3.2.88). The conspirators also thought that he was to cocky. the reality behind that is that Caesar needed to appear strong amongst his people. Who will obey a weak leader or worse how could a weak leader protect them? Caesar may have been a good leader but he was not best for Rome. He was cocky and did not adhere to his wife's warning. "... Calphurnia [cried out her sleep] help ho! They murdered Caesar!" (2.1.2–3) Caesar did not think anything of this dream and felt as is he was this invincible leader. Another warning he received came from soothsayer when he told him "Beware the ides of March!". (1.2.18) A leader like that is not fit to lead a country. To some Caesar was great leader. Even tho some people loved him others felt he was not good for rome . He didn't adhere to any of the warnings that could have possibly saved his life. Caesar felt as if he was untouchable and this mighty God. May this be a lesson maybe we should all " Beware of the ides of March"

Juana knows that this pearl has brought the family bond down so she decided to grab it and leave the house. For this reason, Kino strikes at his beloved wife."He struck her in the face with his clenched fist and she fell among the boulders, and he kicked her in the side." Pride is a topic that runs deeply throughout Jane Austin's novel. In one particular instance, Lady Catherine is chastising Miss Jane Bennet for never having a governess. "'No governess! How was that possible? Five daughters brought up at home without a governess! I never heard of such a thing. Your mother must have been quite a slave to your education.' Elizabeth could hardly help smiling as she assured her that had not been the case. 'Then who taught you? Without a governess, you must have been neglected.'" (Page 267,Pride and Prejudice). Typically in society during the early eighteen hundreds, children were looked after by a governess. By Lady Catherine so bluntly suggesting that the five girls were neglected, she is placing herself...show more content...
Collins was particularly guilty of committing the offense of pride. He acted as though he was of a much higher class simply because he personally knew Lady Catherine de Bourgh. Mr. Collins viewed himself as a more intellectual fellow, who knew a plethora of information on any subject. He conducted himself as a man of higher quality and yet was someone of such weak character. "Pardon me for neglecting to profit by your advice, which on every other subject shall be my constant guide, though in the case before us I consider myself more fitted by education and habitual study to decide on what is right than a young lady like yourself." (Page 159, Pride and Prejudice). This quote exemplifies how little Mr. Collins valued other opinions besides his own. Lizzy abhorred this quality about him and when he proposed to her, she could hardly contain her laughter at such a preposterous inquisition. He was convinced that she wouldn't turn him down and when she did, he assured Lizzy that this was only in an effort to make him want her more. "'I am not now to learn,' replied Mr. Collins, with a formal wave of the hand, 'that is usual with young ladies to reject the dresses of the man whom they secretly mean to accept, when he first applies for their favour; and that sometimes the refusal is repeated a second, or even third time. I am therefore by no means discouraged by what you have just said, and shall hope to lead you to the altar ere long.'" (Page 175, Pride and Prejudice). Mr. Collins doesn't understand how anyone could ever turn down a marriage proposal from him and won't accept her rejection. Only after Mrs. Bennet says that Lizzy is just being ridiculous in not accepting his proposition that he questions if Elizabeth Bennet would be an appropriate wife of a clergy member. He doesn't credit the refusal to marry him as an attack on his character but because Elizabeth Bennet must not be of sound mind. His pride prevents him from believing that Miss Bennet simply

Ready Player One Quotes
"You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete." by R. Buckminster Fuller, This quote means you can't change the reality by fighting it. But you can change it by creating a better world for yourself or someone else. This quote is true because you cannot go against the real world but you can create a better world for yourself by trying and not giving up. For example Pollution, instead of arguing with each other, people can make electric cars instead of cars that consume gas. The dystopian novel, Ready player one, by Ernest Cline and the short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegutjr. as well as real world events prove the interpretation.
The novel Ready Player One by Ernest Cline supports the quote by R. Quotes In Romeo And Juliet
Quote 1: " O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! Beauty too rich for use, for earth to dear! So how's a snowy dove trooping with crows"
(Shakespeare 1.5.49–54)
When Romeo first laid his eyes on Juliet, he instantly fell in love and his feelings began to pour out. The description of Juliet by Romeo continues, as he compares her to a beautiful dove and all the other ladies around her to awkward crows. Instantly, every women, including Rosaline, became irrelevant to Romeo. All he desired and all he could focus on at that moment was, Juliet, the woman he knew he was destined to marry. Romeo had been trapped in a deep depression a few hours before he laid his eyes on Juliet, Romeo's feelings drastically change once he sees Juliet which proves to be love at first sight. Romeos early display of affection presents him as a man who is in love with the idea of love, and in turn allows audiences to like for him, just as they imagine he would for them. Although Romeo's character was introduced a few scenes prior, he was depressed and not himself. So, the moment he met Juliet for the first time it was also the moment the audience met the real Romeo for the first time.
Quote 2: "This holy shrine the gentle send is this: My lips, to blushing pilgrims, ready stand To smooth that rough touch with the tender kiss"

Macbeth Fleance Quotes
Fleance does not return back to Macbeth's castle shows that he has control over his own fate by opposing to the future that the witches had seen in their prophecy. "Thou shalt get kings, though thou be none" (act1 scene3 line 70) In the beginning of the play the witches had foretell Banquo that his sons will become the king. Macbeth strongly believes in the witches prophecy. He commits murder againstBanquo and Fleance in order to fight against the destiny that the witches had prophesied. "Thou may 'st revenge –O slave!"(act scene line) Banquo urges Fleance to escape and someday to take revenge of this gory tragedy. The reader expects Fleance to return to Macbeth's castle to take revenge by murdering Macbeth similarly like he had done to his father. Though, the reader loses where he had fled in the story after he had escaped from that scene. This may show that he would not become the king. As the witches recite in the beginning of the play. "Fair is foul, foul is fair"(act scene line), Macbeth acts as what the witches had said. He is brainwashed by the evil spirits, he has no more control over himself.
