Personal experience in Writing There are many sources for a writer to use, when it comes to using other evidence to back up a statement. Often, as a student, I would use evidence from literatures as a source, and this is the most formal and effective way to express one's opinion. Because by using someone else's work, I could build a connection with the reader, and let the reader believe there are other people who have the same belief as I do. There are different kind of sources that writers can choose from to support their opinions, such as literatures, websites, and studies. But there a special kind of resources: personal experience that is greatly used in writing. Although they are people who believe personal experiences may have some expectations and should not be considered as the public opinion, I still believe personal experience can be greatly used in writing, and supporting one's statement. And the reasons will be stated in below. First of all, a personal experience could make the readers feel more connected to the topic that the author is writing about. If the author has experienced of something like this, it is likely for the readers to feel the same way. By opening up the author's own experience, the readers will not only feel more connected to the story, but also understand the author a little more. For example in the article "Have Smartphones Destroyed a Generation" by Jean Twenge. The author gives a numbers of reference of statistics that he found on websites, but they are just numbers, the reader still feel they are irrelevant to the story. It is the moment as the author starts to talk about his interactions with his friends and relatives, me as a reader feel a sense of connection to the story for the first time. Instead of just numbers and statics on the paper, I could see real life examples, and apply these examples into my own life. second, by using personal experience as a style of writing, the author could let the readers have a more realistic experience. The readers will not only read what is going on at that time, but also feel what the character is feeling at certain moment, and actually be a part of that story. For example, in the Canterbury tale by Geoffrey Chaucer, the

Although I was tempted to pick out a juice, I chose a strawberry flavored water, and I decided to save the juice for later. With my drink, I happily walked to the candyaisle that was in between the tobacco and cigarette aisles. My eyes couldn 't locate the KitKat wafers, my all–time favorite chocolate bar. As a result, I dragged myself back to the comfort of my chair empty handed. I felt like a sportsperson who just came home defeated from a championship game. My eyes ogled at the rack, from a great distance, while my heart wept and yearned for the treat. My mind, the biggest asset of my body, told my muscles to reevaluate the aisle. With a small ray of hope buried deep in my heart, I swiftly and carefully ran to the rack and inspected the candies again. The nervousness on my face made me lethargic as I inspected each of the boxes of candies. After a thorough investigation, I finally found a large box filled with the sweet and savory Kitkats hiding on the bottom shelf of the rack. My over excited heart started celebrating, while my mind remembered to seek permission. With my childlike innocence, I approached my mom and asked her by faking a naive look, Get

I am satisfied with what I have become; a student specializing in Physics with special interests in experimental Condensed Matter Physics. I grew up in a very small town. A town not fully developed; there were very few resources and not many quality schools to acquire a solid education. I had to pass an entrance exam to get into a good school for 8th grade at a time when most students in my town would drop out of school after 7th grade in order to search for work and support their families.
My parents could not complete their undergraduate studies because they had to work to support their families, but their emphasis on the importance of education, their dedication and massive effort inspired me to search for the highest education...show more content... Physics deals with the most fundamental concepts to understand the intricate beauties of daily life. This led me to dedicate my undergraduate studies to Physics, in order to expand my knowledge of the field. I enjoy studying Physics and try to keep up with different findings by regularly reading scientific publications in Physics. During my undergraduate studies, I was attracted towards small and compact, but very effective, technologies so my brother bought me a few electronic devices to do some experiments with by taking apart the various components and figuring out how they worked. To gain the essential knowledge behind these devices, I started reading more in depth material on how the macro and micro scale properties of solid materials are related and their applications in the scaling down of devices.
To broaden my knowledge of crystallography, electromagnetism andquantum mechanics and to figure out the atomic–scale properties of solid materials, I opted to pursue a specialization in Solid State Physics for my first Master's degree program from one of the well–known universities in India, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (MSU). After the mandatory entrance examination, I was selected as one of the 400 candidates for a personal interview and was selected as one of 25 students accepted as a graduate student to the Physics Department.

My Experience With Diversity And Diversity
As I reflect over my life, I appreciate the many diverse experiences I've came to encounter. My experience with diversity dates back to birth. I am from a small rural town, Moss Point, MS. and notably the last state to abolish slavery. The town currently has a population of 13,704 people and consists of 73% Blacks or African Americans, 23% Caucasian, 1% Hispanic or Latino and 1% bi–racial. Regardless of my town's homogeneous population, I grew up accepting diversity and valuing individual differences even amid the same racial group. One of the first experiences of diversity I can vividly recall is the various religious beliefs within the Black community. My parents believed "exposure to the world around you" was one of the primary factors for raising a well–rounded individual. Therefore, we often visited different churches of various faiths.
Within my own family, there were different doctrines. My great–grandmother was Pentecostal, my grandmother is a Baptist and my mother is an Atheist. While everyone seemed to have different belief systems, I participated in them all. I had to learn to adapt to each religious institution. In one church I was allowed to wear pants and women could also be pastors; whereas, in another, women could only wear full length dresses and were not allowed in the pulpit. Nonetheless, my parents consistently reiterated the world is comprised of many different races and complexities, which in turn make the universe a beautiful place. They stressed Get more content

I have proactively engaged in research activity throughout my undergraduate program. I had my first research experience in Dr. B Anand's lab, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, during my second year. The aim of the project was to study the non–fluorescent beta–barrel structured proteins and engineer its amino acid sequence to make them into fluorescent ones. Our approach was mainly based upon the studies of Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) from a jellyfish Aequorea victoria. Tools like Python programming language, Gromacs, Ribosome, PROSS, and Pymol were used to study the structural components of non–fluorescent proteins. I gained invaluable...show more content...
I was challenged with cloning ydeH gene into the pJT118 plasmids which are green light sensitive. The ydeH gene produces a protein named diguanylate cyclase, which induces the production of c–di–GMP in Rosetta strain. This project gave me an opportunity to participate and win silver at International Bio–molecular design competition (BIOMOD) 2012 held at Wyss Institute, Harvard University, USA. Most of the molecular genetic techniques were extensively used in my project. During this internship, apart from gaining deeper technical experience, I realized that I could work on a research problem with a certain degree of independence, figuring out right approaches and proposing useful experiments. I acquired more confidence in my aptitude for research and it has been boosted while working on my undergraduate projects.

Personal Experience As A Student
From my personal experience, as a student a person who research about students and on how they become successful is very interesting, for me, it's exceptional to study for your classes while working concentrated. That's how students become successful to me, and it doesn't matter if you're going to a normal or same single–sex school as long as you are able to learn what you need in order to live a normal life. I go to a school where there are males and females of all kinds from my observation, everyone in gender is the same, we all get acceptable grades and I have noticed people work absolutely consolidated just to keep it that way. In my school, we bear extra–curricular activities for students after school comparable sports, dance, work club, crown, Bros, and GSA club these actually aid students follow and assist them master how to communicate with others. Have you ever heard the quote: "Every book you've ever read is just a different combination of twenty six letters"? If so, then you know how astounding that realization can be. And even though it may be true in a sense, when a writer sits down to write, they aren't just putting words on paper. They're tapping into a unique part of their inner consciousness. They're harnessing their imagination and personal experiences to breathe life into an entire world that they imagined and then assembled. That is a gift that not every writer is able to possess and it's true what people say: if you aren't feeling the emotions within your writing as you write, then chances are, the readers won't be either. With that in mind, it's understandable that empathy, inspiration, and the effort you put forth to connect with your readers, all contribute to how favorable of a writer you will be.
In my opinion, personal experience isn't always necessary to be able to express certain emotions. Experiencing something first hand surely helps, although it's possible to get your point across without it. The ability to empathize with others or to be able to imagine how one must feel will go a long way while writing. We're all human and understand basic emotions such as contentment, grief, love, anger, so on and so forth. This mutual understanding between the reader and the writer will allow you to build on those emotions through words. Overall, I believe the purpose of writing is to convey an image that Get

The continuation of my education was very difficult, and I began to doubt myself when faced with the first couple of weeks. My first assignment was my most difficult assignment, and I found myself having trouble sticking to a thesis, because I had so many ideas that I did not know how to organize, and that was the primary purpose of taking this course, to learn to make my writings more organized. I choose three assignments out of the six, which were not only my favorite assignments; they are all written in classical perspective. As I wrote each assignment I described my past experience as if I was speaking to a group telling my story. I wrote in classical perspective in the interest of writing my personality and voice, but it also shows how I perceive my audience. Whatever way that I decide to go I will always be helping someone, somewhere. I have looked at many colleges. I find myself lucky to be in Grand Forks, North Dakota. UND is an amazing school, with a highly recommended nursing program. North Dakota is one of the only states left that require a four year nursing degree. I looked in to going to the tech but decided that it was not the right choice for me since I am planning to stay in North Dakota. This would mean I would have to work in minnesota or take a job in North Dakota and work under a different title with less pay and benefits. Another benefit that accompanies going to a four year nursing program is if i wanted to higher my education it would be in my best interest to have the extra two years behind me. My next step in becomming a registered nursing is a little sidetracked. I want to be come a CMA. A CMA is a certified medical assistant. Once I become a CMA I will have more responsibility but it will be worth it. Becomming a CMA will help me in future classes at UND. I will have the backround of medications as well as a better understanding of patients.

An Experience that changed my Life
Life is full of learning and it is mostly due to our daily life experiences. These experiences are mostly based on our surrounding environment from where we learn new things every day. But all these experiences are a result of our keen observations out of daily routines. It is very important to note that life also provides us with some chances to experience new people or places that are indeed out of the ordinary. That is the time we indeed learn new and unique things, hence these are unique experiences of our life which are remembered by us throughout our life span. I have personally been affected by the mess that America calls a health system. In the same year, I had severe food poisoning and my stomach and intestines swelled. I had to be hospitalized for a day each, and was then sent home, even though I was still very ill. The reason? My family has no health coverage. Both my parents are very hard workers and own their own business. One would think that my household could afford health coverage, but we can't, despite the many hours a week and hard labor. So, without coverage, there are heavy bills to pay. My mom and I have calculated that my parents will be paying hospital bills long after I graduate from college. Because of two days in the hospital, six bags of saline, and a bagel from the...show more content...
After all, it should be a right to be healthy. This is not the case with how the health system works in America. If everybody has the right to be healthy, then why is it only affordable to the upper class? Denying necessary coverage is denying the right to be healthy. Democrat Representative James Clyburn in South Carolina, said in an article that the health care problem in America is "the civil rights movement of the 21st century" (Faces of...Debate). In the Constitution and in the Bill of Rights, people have inalienable rights that cannot be taken away from them. Some of these include the right to speech, religion, press, assemble peacefully, and even to own a gun. Healthcare coverage should be apart of that list too. It doesn't make sense that the Government says it's fine that you can own a gun no matter what, and yet, they could care less if you are healthy or not. Another thing that is puzzling is that criminals and even terrorists on American soil are guaranteed health care. For example, in the state and country prisons and jails, inmates get totally free care of doctors equal to what a civilian would have to pay for. Guantanamo Bay, a US Naval base is used as a prison to put nation– threatening terrorists in. There, they get totally free health care and check ups. This is odd because, even though more than 46 million people in America do not have health coverage, our nation finds it justice to

Whilst the open ended questions allowed deeper responses as spoken about above it was also evident that these questions allowed Mary Doe to feel comfortable throughout the interview as she was allowed to express her own open thought rather than having a written script of multiple smaller closed ended questions. The safe environment was carried through the whole interview. I concluded the interview by asking Mary Doe if she had any concerns or further questions she would like to talk about. This continues the safe environment feel, which I created throughout the whole interview.
Once finishing the interview I recall thinking that I had forgotten one major factor within the interview, which was taking notes. This would have to be my only major weakness that I found I had whilst interviewing Mary Doe. At the time I was so focused on eye contact, so it was really easy for myself to just ask the questions and get lost in the answer whilst trying to figure out what question to ask next. The lack of note taking in response to Mary Doe's answers left me forgetting to listen one hundred percent as I was switching focus to what came next. When researching how I can improve this skill there was a lot of positive feedback on how to strengthen this skill. Although we've all experienced any degree of disappointments in our lives, there are a select few that tend to stick with us. They act as assets in our lives, tools to use help us grow. The way a person deals with disappointment speaks volume about who someone is. Personally, I am the kind of person who likes to have constants in my life; commodities that won't change and those that I can depend on when everything else is unstable. When I was in my second year of middle school, one of my biggest constants was my band director, Ms. Palmer. This shattered all confidence I had for going to high school, all hope for comfort I previously had. All of a sudden, my main constant dissolved. The only thing that I had going for me, the safety net in my life ceased to provide comfort. From this event, I feel that I learned a great deal about how I personally coped with disappointment and major changes in my life. After tears had been shed and the questions were answered, I had an opportunity to develop and to mature from this. After adequate contemplation, I realized that it wasn't the best idea to depend on other people so deeply. In my youth, I had been raised and taught how to be independent and to care for myself, making sure that I could give myself all I needed to become successful. This loss of someone turned out to be invaluably important in my life and further reinforced my idea that the only person you should depend on is yourself. Though this sounds grim, I am able to attribute much of my success to my personal independence. I've learned how to set goals for myself, how to motivate myself to try and rise above negative situations and develop from them. Ms. Palmer leaving sparked my first internal revision that has thus led to a personal reflection resulting in the mindset I possess now. Several years later, I have the ability to reflect upon myself in a more timely and constructive manner. Looking at situations like these in a useful light, disappointments are a fantastic

I started to daydream about making the swim team.

After days of thought about the assignment, I sat down to write, but I ended up staring at a blank computer screen for a long time. I thought to myself, I am struggling. This thought prompted me to think of all the times that I had struggled in my life. I remembered struggling in basketball, school, and everyday life. As I thought about them, I realized that I got through them and benefitted from the experiences. Pushing myself to my limits, looking for ways to get better, and refusing to quit had produced some good results in my life.
