Self–acceptance is an extremely prevalent issue that numerous people struggle with. It is one of the hardest to surmount, for it is something I still struggle with to this day. Overall, my journey is a working progress as it will perpetuate to have its downfalls to test me. Like many of my generation, social media has played an excessively paramount role in our lives, both negatively and positively. Sources of harmless entertainment have also unintentionally encouraged self–judgment. Be that as it may, my perspective has been widely opened unexpectedly through a speaker's presentation as she showed us how to recognize our self–worth. Confidence and self–esteem are hard to acquire for some, but it should not be a quantity you divest yourself of. Self–acceptance of all insecurities and doubts is paramount since every individual has a unique beauty that should be cherished in order to pursue a life full of love and jubilance.

During my sophomore year in high school, we had a Career Day with several guest speakers. They had split us up by gender, the girls stayed on the right side of the school while the boys stayed on the left. We could not enter the opposite sides considering we had presentations concretely for each group. As the boys had speakers to discuss the development of a gentleman, we had speakers addressing topics relating to makeup and on how to be a lady. Towards the end of the day, my friends and I decided to choose our last presentation randomly. As we entered the room, there was this resplendent woman with a surprisingly cordial atmosphere. She addressed us as if we were her own children; you could sense the love she had for positivity before she even commenced to speak. She gave us a background story of her childhood during our age, for she too had struggled with accepting herself with all her insecurities. She described her several encounters with bullying and how it had impacted her self–esteem even though she appeared so vigorous and confident. I admired that about her the most, not once did she ever show the slightest bit of weakness, yet she too had relatable problems. Then she mandated us to indite down the worst thing someone had ever verbally expressed about us, even if it were of our own

Reflection On Personal Development

Reflective report

In this report I am going to reflect on what I have learnt within my KSPPD1 module (Knowledge and Skills for Professional and Personal Development 1). In this module I have worked alongside other inter professional groups and we have learned practical skills in moving and handling, CPR and hoisting. I have also learnt about the importance of record keeping and gaining informed consent. All of these skills are vital in ensuring that the patients' needs are considered to be paramount.

I have also expanded my knowledge on the importance of reflection and how it will benefit me within my work as a healthcare professional. My key learning experiences have been learning exactly how to make a patient feel comfortable in certain situations such as when moving them using a hoist and improving my practical clinical skills so I can move a patient safely without putting them at risk. I have also learned basic first aid skills which I am willing to use if a patient is in need. I am going to use the Kolb Learning Cycle to structure my reflective piece and it will follow the theme of the importance of health and safety.

Boud (1985) describes reflection as 'an important human activity in which people recapture their experience, think about it, mull over & evaluate it. Boud says that it is this working with experience that is important in learning'.

Reflecting upon a situation helps individuals to further develop their skills and review how effective they are at utilising them. It involves questioning yourself with regards to what you do and why you do it, this can then be used to develop a more efficient way of doing it in the future.

Self–reflection helps us to learn what we do right and what we could improve and therefore we can improve clinical practice standards therefore keeping the patient safe and ensuring their needs are paramount.

Kolb's learning style theory is a four stage leaning cycle in which individuals are said to 'touch all the bases'.

The diagram displays the four stages of Kolb's learning cycle which I am going to use to structure my report.

One's dream and aspirations to supersede in life must be stronger and greater than limitations set forth by others. The experience that were bestowed to me during my short life has elevated me to the woman I am today. Please walk with me as I give you the opportunity to see the world from my eyes:

To be the person that I am now, I had to reflect and accept accountability of my past actions. My past is one that many would love to erase from their memory, a past, which remained dormant, until I found myself. The steps involved in regaining myself encompassed letting go of my anger and self pity. I had to look within myself and see my self's worth, which lead to my belief that I

My last year in college, changed the whole course of my life. Near the end of my junior year, I befriended a guy, who never would become my boyfriend. I knew he was infatuated with me, so I lead him on. He ended up stalking me and making several death threats. I never understood the phrase "in fear of your life", until then. Tallahassee Police Department(TPD) got involved but there wasn't much they could do except file a police report and wait. This was a very frightening time in my life and consequently I became very disconnected with life. I never provided TPD with my stalker's name, in fear that he would kill me if I did. I moved to a different apartment complex across town, thinking that it would make all my problems go away. He ended up finding me and making more serious death threats against me and my family if I didn't leave Tallahassee.

I had a mental breakdown after the last death threat and I left Florida State University my senior year, I went back home to deal with my traumatic ordeal. I quickly transferred to Florida International University and graduated the following year with my graduating class at Florida State. Graduation day should have been one of the happiest days of my life, but instead I was terrified Get

Examples Of Academic Reflection

During the whole process of designing the IMC plan for HP Sprocket in this semester, I have earned valuable experience about teamwork, and I have learned lessons not only from class, but also from the whole working process. First of all, I have to admit that this group is one of the best groups I've ever had, I used to think that only failed experience helps people learn and grow. However, this time in a well–organised group, I found that I was wrong, positive experience contributes as well. This essay will reflect what I have learned, and it will be mainly divided into two parts: academic reflection and experiential reflection.

Academic Reflection

In an IMC plan, separate segment needs to cooperate with each other through organisational communications in order to ensure that audiences can receive a same key message from different channels (Ots and Nyilasy 2015, 134–135). Personally, I feel it is perfectly understandable as a first–time IMC practitioner. In this group work, because we do not have much time to discuss the "BigIdea" at the very beginning, we decided to divide the work first and then combine them together to find out the "Big Idea". However, I found that I cannot come up with useful strategies without effectively communicating with my teammates about our goal for this plan. After we have finished our first draft and uploaded it to Google Drive, we all agreed that this is a weak plan, because the messages we try to deliver in each piece do not have much in common.

As Percy (2013, 2–3) pointed out, both the key and the goal of IMC planning are "to deliver a consistent message". This made me think we might be wrong at the aiming stage. In this scenario, assigning work without figuring out the requirement of an IMC plan is the problem of our group, and I need to learn that figuring out the main requirements and setting a clear goal are essential steps for innovative projects like an IMC plan. Because they can improve both individual's task performance and group's working efficiency (Hoegl and Parboteeah 2003, 4). There may have certain groups that can perform well without cooperating tightly, like a calculation group, but IMC group is definitely not one of them. Which reminds me that in the

1. Describe how you felt when you read through your results of the Mindset Assessment. Were you surprised? Did you agree? Why or why not? Provide examples to support your response.

Answer: I really was not all that surprising about the results of my Mindset Assessment test. I agree with the results. My results state that I am a Dynamic learner. Now that I know what kind of learner I am, I can strive to be a better learner. My results taught me that I use everything at a

Personal Reflection On Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence– Personal Reflection

Introduction and Definition of EI

The topic of our group presentation was Emotional Intelligence (EI), a term that refers to the convergence of emotion and intelligence; that is, the ability to recognise one 's own emotions and the emotions of others. According to Mayer and Geher (1996). There are physical cues (such as facial expressions and posture) that are universally–accepted as universally representative of emotions, and thus, and inability to recognise emotions plays a role in hindering self–awareness and self–insight. Once one is able to recognise emotions in him/herself and others, he or she can use this knowledge to regulate one 's own emotions and motivate, plan, and achieve life goals. EI plays an important role within management and leadership, particularly when it comes to maintaining job satisfaction among employees (Shooshtarian, Ameli and Aminilari, 2013). This is particularly important as employees who report high levels of job satisfaction are also shown to perform better in their professional duties (Ferris et al., 2010).

Personal Goals and EI

I strive to be a good leader and reach the fullest of my potential; and through learning to understand both my own emotions and the emotions of others, I can convey the empathy required to connect with other people and work towards greater goals. According to Semadar, Robins & Ferris,

I was able to make friends easily by applying my interpersonal skills amongst others. This included joining societies as well as, using my communication skills during my seminar group work discussions, where I demonstrated my teamwork skills by co–operating with others during a shared task. Working with others is a vital skill, as I did not only collaborate with them, but learn from them by listening to their thoughts, as we all had diverse ideas and perspectives. This point leads back to my anxiety of interacting within a new environment, which allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and, associate with people from different backgrounds. Therefore, this was a learning curve experience, as I met new people in the same situation as myself, which made me feel more comfortable and at ease. Personal Reflection On Teaching And Learning

Every teacher has their own personal approach towards teaching and learning. It does not matter what your personal approach is to teaching; as long as you are still meeting the requirements of a teacher. Society has differing perceptions and understandings about the teaching profession. In order to develop a personal approach to teaching, we must reflect on our previous educational experiences and highlight how these experiences will shape the teacher. When capturing the beliefs, the concepts of technology use, equality, reflection andpedagogy further highlight the personal beliefs on teaching and learning. To replicate a reflective practitioner, a personal growth plan will expand the knowledge of the pre–service teacher with guidance from the Australian Teaching Standards. As the pre–service teacher, I must start to act as a reflective practitioner by reflecting on the actions taken in the classroom. Learning through reflection allows teachers to engage in continuous learning that can be implemented in the classroom. Primary school learning had the most positive schooling experience; which with the assistance of the Australian Teaching Standards, students of the future can have similar positive experiences.

The idea of using technology in the classroom underpins my central beliefs held about teaching and learning. The use of technology should be engaging for the students and also the teacher. When I was in years 5 and 6, technology was slowly being implemented into the

Photos bring memories back to life. Each photo tells a different story, sometimes things you don't always like to remember.

The photo that I have chosen is of a young girl in a pretty formal dress. She is holding a packet of Minties, her favourite lollies. Her grandma gave them to her right after she performed in a concert for her dancing school.

Athol Williby School of dance, a place she'd been going to for 3 years, since she was 7 years old. Every Monday her mother would drop her off out the front of the old office building. She'd walk down the laneway round the back, up the old wooden stairs into a change room.

As everyone was arriving the young girls noticed how many people actually went to the dance school. They were shocked; they'd only seen the older girls that gossiped in the change rooms before class.

As the doors opened and everyone moved into the building, a tall lady with red curly hair and a big noise came into view. She was screaming instructions at everyone; they just kept walking through the doors.

The young girls walked into change room 8. It was huge with ballet costumes on hangers. There were lights around the mirrors just like in the movies. The little girls felt very glamorous.

They were told to sit on the ground and wait until Marie, the lady that would be looking after and helping them get into their costumes, came.

The young girls sat and waited patiently, giggling excitedly about which costumes they would get to wear.

Everyone looked down, no one said a thing everyone was too scared.

During my interactions as a leader of a community group at school, I began to understand that hanging out with people did not have to mean being the entertainment or always telling people what to do. Sometimes, a little bit of silent attention is the best thing you can give to a person. In the past couple of years, I have learned to cultivate my spiritual gift of knowledge. During the year of 2016, I read the bible chronologically from cover to cover. I still read my Bible consistently, even if I am finishing homework at midnight. I also use a method similar to the Leitner system in order to keep large passages of scripture in my memory. These words inspire and guide me during hard times. We don't always have a bible on hand, and when we do we don't always know where to look for inspiration. However, disciplining myself to keep learning about the Bible keeps it fresh and helps me to apply it to my life, giving me strength in trials. My psychology teacher often took time out of his class to have us take personality tests or answer introspective questions. "Group work is a form of voluntary association of members benefiting from cooperative learning that enhances the total output of the activity than when done individually".

Working in a group can be very difficult at times. Different people with different views may not always agree which one another. Throughout the various task I played the communicator. I made sure everyone was on track on what we wanted to do. I also made sure people was okay and happy in the role they was playing in the group. My group worked together in collecting ideas from one another and making it into one. My feelings about the group process was a little mix at first but, at the end I felt like we actually brought it together. Beginning of the group member were all over the place and had no direction, when we were able to take a breather in just think ideas started to flow. I felt like that took the communicator to make it happen. By reinsuring the other group members that everything will go smoothly if we just don't overthink everything. The things I will have done differently in the group was to use my time wisely. I believe because we were on a time frame, I tended to rush things just to say okay where done. Also, more support and trust at a point of time I was kind of second guessing anotheridea. I feel that you have to have trust in your group member to make it effective.

Engineering involves in designing and constructing buildings and bridges, which are related closely to people's life. Being a professional engineer and knowing the accountabilities are important to contribute to the safety. Engineering is used to make people's life more convenient, so when engineers carry out their responsibilities, people's life and wealth safety can be protected. Besides that, a design should meet the safety regulations to keep the normal operation and protect the workers. Engineers should take the responsibility to eliminate the damage to the environment. In this semester, we did an energy assignment, in which we achieved a renewable fraction of 77.7% and the emission was reduced. That means the emission to global warming is little, public health and environmental quality are improved and the dependence on fossil fuels is reduced. Besides that design itself, the contribution to the whole environment can also fulfil the engineer's social value.

In the first workshop of this class, an engineering world with strict regulations was presented by the professor to me. All engineering designs and researches are the fruit of the engineers' intellect and hard work. Respecting the intellectual property rights is the principle to everyone in engineering field. Reflective Reflection On Personal Development

Introduction

This report is a summative reflection of my studies on PPDI5039 module of personal development PPDI, the report will reflect on my weekly highlight of issues I encountered that impacted me negatively or positively or changed my perception or overall view. At the end I would try as much as possible to highlight if I have gained transferable knowledge to aid my future venture or learning.

In order to simplify my overall experience and my progress through the first week of PPDI to the 10th week, I would use a theory model known as COLBS

Reflective practice is a way of studying your own experiences to improve the way you work. (Brightside, 2016)

Unfortunately, this isn't just an isolated case of overzealous extroverts who want to transform everybody into one of them. I find this philosophy to be at work in many different educational settings. An elementary school that recently opened in my area began the year with desks shaped to fit together like a puzzle piece. This is a desk that by itself looks awkward and out of place. Visual cues like these desks create a subtle message that's hard to miss: if you're working alone, you're doing it wrong.

Personal Philosophy Reflection Paper

For the past six weeks, I learned how philosophy has influenced the world globally. Learning that when human beings voice their thoughts with others, they receive a chance to change the world, especially if one person speaks one on one, one personage can change the world of one body. My belief in the power of language is strengthened by philosophy. This philosophy course has encouraged me to share my opinions that are not influenced by other peers or older adults, but to deeply reflect and research my beliefs and opinions. Looking at how philosophy has shaped the United States, I grant my thankfulness towards the Constitution, and the democracy and freedom we now have, compared to other countries. My views of electronics have changed,...show more content...

Before philosophy my views would have leaned a little bit more towards a socialist country, but now I gratitude freedom in hard work, education, speech, etc.

From my readings to research from Edutopia to literature courses, I have gained a deeper appreciation for language. In order to understand what one is speaking, a person needs to spend time listening to one's language and before responding must reflect and analyze what the other said and how to respond. If a person wants to love another person they have to listen to their language in order to speak their language, and the core part of learning another language is by listening. According to Joan Blaska, author of The Power of Language: Speak and Write Using "Person First" the language people use shows one's bias and prejudices. Beliefs and another's performance fall under the influence of language. Blaska claimed " the degree to which children are able to perceive themselves as competent and worthy, or the opposite, is heavily influenced by the verbalizations used by their teachers...Studies have found that labeling of students does affect teacher expectations which in turn affects student progress". People have heavy influence with their words, because of this, our language must be intentional in a way, that breaks down negative stereotypes and helps one gain empathy as well as seeing others capabilities. Communicating and reading others comments and inquiring others has helped me to accept

Personal Reflection

Before going into my reflective essay, it is important to first know what is reflective learning and journal writing. Reflective learning is the system of internally analysing and exploring a problem of concern, triggered by an experience, which creates and clarifies meaning in terms of self, and which ends up in a modified conceptual angle (Boyd and Fales, 1983). Journal writing on the other hand, is the recording of each day events, personal reflections, questions about the environment, and reactions to experiences (Dyment and O'Connell, 2003). According to Kerka (1996), journal writing is considered to be vital factor of expertise processing and that it enables the learners to "articulate connections between new information and what they already recognise". Reflection is an important human activity in which people recapture their experience, think about it, mull it over and evaluate it. It is this working with experience that is important in gaining knowledge of (Boud, Keogh and Walker, 1985). To help structure my writing, I will be using the Gibbs (1988) model of reflection. This model supports "reflection on action", allowing me to think retrospectively and systematically analyse each phase of the experience. Throughout the last 20 weeks, there are many things that I have taken into consideration from the lessons taught by David and Christina. However, I will only highlight on the classes that impacted me the most, my past internship experience, as well as the video assignment. I still remember during the first day of Work Experience class, David and Christina introduced themselves and given the class a heads up on the assessments that we are expected to deliver before the semester ends. Taylors University Lakeside Campus students from Malaysia are given a completely different task as compared to the rest of the students for one of the assessment. Taylors students are expected to film a video to attract other students studying in Malaysia to continue their studies at UWE and why they should choose Bristol and UWE. At that time, David and Christina are unable to confirm the assessment criteria as the criteria may be different this year for the Taylors students. However, I was really excited because I

Examples Of Personal Reflection

With my sound projected I hope to convey the idea that an individual will face a multitude of different challenges throughout their lives, but one must use those challenges and failure as a means of motivation in order to reach your goals. There will be individual who will bring you down in your life and you may not have the support you need at time but you just have to keep progressing and focusing on yourself. In order to properly project this I used various affordances of sound that help me effectively tell the story for the listener. I also included voices to help tell the story and set the tone for the listener as we progress through the different phases of the individual's life. I tried to set a serious tone by showing the change in voice of the individuals speaking to the person we follow throughout the project. For instance, when we first begin to tell the story the character (when he was a student in high school) get yelled at by his teacher for doing the assignment completely wrong. You can hear the anger in the teacher voice and it evokes the emotion of you doing something wrong. In the end you finally get to hear the voice of the actual character who has now become a very successful individual even through all the hard time he faced getting to that point. One of the most effective affordances of sound that I made sure to include short clips of motivational song in order to help the listener understand that even when you fail you have to use that as motivation

Teaching in this context was at the beginning of the journey a frightening and stressing episode, first of all because I did not know anything about mining, geology, finance and accounting, just to mention some and not to make myself look like a complete ignorant.
