Third Person Essay Examples

Hi, Tonya! I didn't realize there was so much going on in your life, and can empathize with you. Third–person omniscient has never been a walk in the park for me either; the pain you sense is one I've sensed countless times. There's no need to worry; except for occasional tense issues, which I will get to later, you did a respectable job in my eyes! But I will still give tips for improvement though. You've poured your heart and soul into it, and you reached deep to pull a story out which readers across many eras can appreciate. If you've had to face circumstances as the ones detailed in the tale, it might not surprise me in the least. Arguments over the romantic relationships in which their children are engaging are a more–than–occasional occurrence for most parents living here in America. The tension mounting during them gets captured here in stellar fashion. A big eye–catcher was your cursing usage, which fueled Jack's fury fire and a brilliant moment ("He...kissed so much governmental ass his lips...tasted [as defecation]")....show more content... The speech Martha gave near the conclusion on how Jack's anger blinded him brought me to tears; I rooted for her from the story start and applauded when she sided with Frank whatever Jack's intentions were going forward. Compelling and poignant; by far one among the most gripping and thought–provoking pieces I've read in a while. My advice to you, if you want to maximize the emotional impact it can have on readers, is to do more thorough checking. In the first paragraph alone, you switched back–and–forth between first person/third–person perspectives. I detected several moments involving extra words left in ("could to get his son's juvenile record expunged") and words left out ("Frank is [a] grown man"). Readers might want to learn more about Rebecca, too; we learn she's Frank's love interest, but don't find out much else on her.

Just to think about self care can be a task in itself. I never really thought it about it, to be honest, but it is an essential part of living. We get so busy and caught up living in our everyday lives that we forget about the most important part, ourselves. I have two young kids ages 3 and 5, so my focus is always to take care of them and make sure their needs are met, forgetting about myself along the way. I think this assignment will help me to appreciate and not take for granted the things that I know I need to do for myself and to show love to the most important person, me. Stress management and self–soothing techniques are critical for surviving modern work–no matter the focus of the work. Psychotherapists tend to disregard their...show more content...

In class we discussed "saying no" being apart of our plans and I know that this is a must for me. At times I find myself running around like a chicken with its head cutoff. If only I had the courage to tell people no when I really need to the most. This will be tough for me but I know that it will help me have more time to do the things I love.

Although there are several things on my list that I am cringing over I will give it my all. What better way to be a good therapist? Starting the process of self–care now will hopefully alleviate future problems that I could face. I embrace this experience to create more self–love within. Setting out with determination and a clear understanding of my plan will hopefully create the motivation that I need to complete my goals. Knowing how I am, I have to take this day–by–day. If I do miss a task, instead of beating up on myself as I usually do I will commit to that task the following day. Its not so much doing the tasks that I am worried about because everything on my list I appreciate, it is finding the time to fit it all in. I think what will motivate me is knowing that if I can't help and take care of myself then how can I take care of my future clients. My ultimate goal after attending Antioch is of course helping others better their lives so I think this plan will give me a jumpstart in helping myself first. Get more content

Auschwitz:

A Historical Overview of the Death Camp

The Holocaust is one of the most horrifying crimes against humanity. "Hitler, in an attempt to establish the pure Aryan race, decided that all mentally ill, gypsies, non supporters of Nazism, and Jews were to be eliminated from the German population. He proceeded to reach his goal in a systematic scheme." (Bauer, 58) One of his main methods of exterminating these 'undesirables' was through the use of concentration and death camps. In January of 1941, Adolf Hitler and his top officials decided to make their 'final solution' a reality. Their goal was to eliminate the Jews and the 'unpure' from the entire population. Auschwitz was the largest...show more content...

These camps were set up along railroad lines so that the prisoners would be conveniently close to their destination. Unfortunately, many prisoners didn't even survive the train ride to the camps. Herded like cattle, exhaustion, disease, and starvation ended the long treacherous journey for many of the prisoners. On the trains, Jews were starved of food and water for days. Nearly 8% of the people did not even survive the ride to the camps. (Nyiszli, 37)

When they arrived at the camps, most of the families who were shipped out together, ended up being separated. Often, the transports were a sampling of what went on in the camps: cruelty by the officers, near starvation of those being transported, as well as fetid and unsanitary conditions. For the people who survived the trip, it was just the beginning of the living nightmare that they would face inside the walls of Auschwitz.

Jews were forced to obey the guards' orders from the moment they arrived at the camps. "If they didn't, they would be beaten, put into solitary confinement, or shot." (Nyiszli, 49) A prisoner said, "I can remember when I first arrived. The S.S. would take babies right out of their mother's arms, throw them in the air and then shoot them. This is when I realized that I had just entered hell." (Nyiszli, 102)

What is human nature? It is very simple. Human nature refers to the patterns of behavior that are typical of our species or our kind. Human undergoes change as all humans grow up they nature seems to change; the environment someone grow up in effects that persons nature. To fully understand human nature Dr.Marvin Harris takes us on trip to time, which makes sense because if we better understand our past and our origin we will better understand our very existence and our nature. We will know more about who we are where we are from and such other questions that puzzle the human mind.

As I mentioned before our environment has a great effect on our nature. For example a theory claimed that, the first humans...show more content... However we don't, and that is due to time going by and the changing of the environment.

In the book Our Kind Dr. Harris mentions the theory of evolution by Charles Darwin. He went to great details about our closest living relative the chimpanzees, and how their survival was base on they will to fight. Therefore, our willingness to fight wars and kill each other for nonsense reasons is simply our nature.

Our behaviors that may be said to be our nature is also depend on the circumstances we encounter in our lives. Such as, it is very rare to find someone who was raised in a dangerous area ahs the same time of nature as someone who was raised in very nice calm area where the biggest crime one could commit is littering.

Another issue of Human Nature that shows us how changes in time leads to changes in the way we act and perform is Family life. I will compare family life in early America to family live today in America. The Indian tribes that lived on in this very country we now call ours, they had a custom where they would give away they daughters to much older men if they provided the father of the husband labor or land which was called brides wealth. That way what they believe, what they practice, that was simply they nature of doing things. So really, human nature could also be looked as our way of doing every day things, our practices or

Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face. However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective. By doing this, one can focus on the task at hand...show more content...

I had no experience as a runner nor did I have the form. This did not phase me however. That year I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times, lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent are just the starting point.
