Editor’s Note THE RAGE I remember myself flipping through my Mum's fashion magazines which she used to read when I was a kid. Ever since I was drawn into the glamour of glossy pages, I've wanted to work on a lashicon magazine. I'd like to thank our university for presenting us this exceptional opportunity to realise our dreams.

I have to admit it's been very hectic few months since we started working on the magazine.

Contacting people across the globe for collaborations, long nights working on the website, building a creative team for the photoshoots... Finally, here it is - the first issue of ; “THE RAGE Fashion” MAGAZINE I wanted it to be a magazine that talked to students about fashion in a way that it would inspire them to make a career in the field of fashion and for all those teenagers out there who is waiting for a kickstart to this field.

This magazine will help to guide the budding fashionistas to achieve their goals and fulfil their potential. I hope that the stories featured in this magazine will inspire you like they inspired me.

Lakme fashion week Lakme Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI is India's premier fashion & lifestyle event curating experiences and redefining fashion for over 25 years. Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI is a bi-annual fashion week which takes place in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India& Delhi, India. Its Summer-Resort show takes place in March in Mumbai while the Winter-Festive show takes place in October in Delhi.

The fashion parade has finally come to India with the Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI 2023 from the cities of New York, London. Milan and Pari9s.

It had a host of A-listers from Bollywood walk down the ramp as they turned showstoppers.

This included Sobhita Dhulipala for De Belle's 'Nazara' and Diana Penty for Paulmi and Harsh’s ‘Rooh’ and for Park Avenue’s premium casual collection there was Rajkumar Rao.

9 Here, then comes the actor Adah Sharma who was the showstopper for designer Sanjukta Dutta for her collection 'SAPOON' and looked gorgeous in a pleated yellow saree.

On the other hand, The favourite of all Kiara Advani who was the showstopper for Falguni Shane Peacock. This outfit was inspired by street culture. What added to her bold street-luxe look was her long bubble braid, smokey eyes, and black heels.

Saba Azad would definitely be the perfect fit for a chic rock star. Her recent appearance on the runway at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week has us taking notes.

The actress made a striking appearance on the ramp as she brought a full dose of energy to the show. She was the showstopper for Giesha designs.

I was more into drawings/ colours during my school time… so turned into Makeup Artist

How do u manage time when in wedding season ?

As being a freelancer Artist I manage my booking slots by having difference of half hour

As a freelancer, what r the challenges you faced when u were a fresher ?

When I was fresher getting clients/ work/ product shoots were challenging… even to have good high quality products in my vanity was a task

If your client has only 5 minutes to do their makeup, what tips do u give them ?

If you have only five minutes to spare, wash and moisturise your skin as the first step. Next, apply sunscreen, eyeliner and if you still have time, a lip balm or lipstick complimenting your dress.

What do you think is the biggest challenge for makeup artists ?

As a makeup artist, I think the biggest challenge we face is staying up to date with changing trends and styles. Trends and the fashion industry can change frequently. This makes it important to upgrade our expertise regularly to better cater to client demands.

SUNGLASSES AT NIGHT – NAY OR YAY? There are famous figures– who are well-known for keeping their eyes behind these shades. The purpose is to intimidate by creating mysterious air or just purely as a signature style.

Also, in many movies, we all see badass secret agents and spies with black suits or leather jackets plus sunglasses. Another cultural or fashion trend will be wearing sunglasses at the funeral.

"The question is what about wearing sunglasses at night?"

People wear sunglasses due to their basic function or for several practical reasons – protecting sensitive eyes from the glare of direct sunlight or the reflective lights from other objects.

Seemingly, we see some unwritten rules about wearing these sorts of eye shades. Indeed, several unspoken proper etiquettes in different situations or environments will prevent you from wearing them – you need to think twice, especially at night.

DIY : HOW TO TIE DYE YOUR CLOTHES ?

Materials Required : Clothing items: dresses, etc)

(T-shirts,

socks,

Dye kit : (Tulip. Jackquard & Rit) Plastic squeezed bottles: (to apply dye to clothing) Rubber bands: (used to bind & create patterns to your clothing) Plastic bags Or Plastic wrap: (to wrap & let the dyed clothing sit to develop the colors) Plastic Or Disposable tablecloth: (To protect your workspace from dye splatters) Gloves : (To protect your hands from dye stains) Bucket Or Plastic container: (For soaking your clothing before dyeing)

STEP BY STEP

INSTRUCTIONS Cover your work surface with a plastic tablecloth or garbage bags to protect it from dye splatters.

Wash your clothing items to remove any sizing or dirt.

Create your desired tie-dye patterns by folding, twisting, or scrunching the fabric.

Use rubber bands to bind the fabric in place.

Mix the dye and cover your hands with the gloves to protect yourself from the dye.

Use plastic squeeze bottles to apply the dye to your bound fabric. Apply the dye in sections, using different colors as desired.

After applying the dye, wrap each clothing item in plastic bags or plastic wrap to keep them damp and allow the dye to set. Let them sit for at least 6-8 hours, or overnight for more vibrant colors.

Carefully unwrap your clothing and rinse them under cold water until the water runs clear.

Wash your tie-dyed clothing separately in cold water with a mild detergent.

Once dry, your tie-dyed clothes are ready to wear !

What’s your greatest strength as a Fashion Designer ?

My client’s faith and trust in me is one of my biggest strength. because after all it’s all about client’s satisfaction.

How do u stay so up-to-date on the latest Fashion trends ?

This would be very useful for audience if you could explain in short the process of selecting Fabrics.

By knowing client’s body type and shape, occassion, budget, the way she carries it, her preferences and then I style and customise their outfit and choose the right fabric.

Studying the history of fashion greatly helps to know the ins and outs of fashion. Mainly through Social media, movies, and through new projects of popular designers.

What are your favourite trends in the fashion industry, past or present?

Some of my favourite trends are from the 1920s, a time when you see clean designs and simple symmetry in clothes. This usually reflects in my own designs, although I add some innovative elements and keep today's current trends in mind. I believe that our fashion sense is a result of the legacy trends and our unique personalities

Tarun Tahiliani is a noted Indian fashion designer. With his wife Sailaja 'Sal' Tahiliani, he co-founded Ensemble, India’s first multidesigner boutique in 1987, followed by Tahiliani Design studio in 1990 Based in Delhi, he is best known for his ability to infuse Indian craftsmanship and textile heritage with tailored silhouette. His signature is to combine traditional aesthetics with modern design. Over the years, he also became known for his bridal wear.

21 Rahul Mishra (born 7 November 1979) is an Indian Fashion Designer based in Delhi. He is the first Indian designer to be invited to showcase at the Haute Couture Week in Paris. He won the International Woolmark Prize in 2014 at Milan Fashion Week,, becoming the first Indian designer to win the award. The winning collection was sold in stores around the world.

In 2008, he was awarded the MTV YOUTH Icon of the Year by MTV India.

He made his debut in 2006 at Lakme Fashion Week. With a collection using cotton handloom textiles from Kerala, especially offwhite fabric with golden border of Kerala mundu. In 2009, he made reversible dresses, employing Kerala mundu on one side, with Banarasi fabric of the other side woven by traditional craftman.

Mishra has showcased his work at fashion weeks in London, Dubai, Australia and is regular on the official calendar of Paris Fashion Week. He has also become known for incorporating traditional Indian textiles, and handmade artisanship to his work. He is the only Indian designer to be chosen by Rent the Runway, online rental boutique.

ALL ABOUT THE SAREE AND THE LOOK So, recently Alia Bhatt wore a beautiful saree from Manish Malhotra which was very famous and personally to be honest I loved it so much. And Of course I wanted something similar but at a affordable price.
