THE GREAT INDOORS

LISTEN Mother’s Meeting is a hilarious podcast that revolves around the theme of parenting and is hosted by British Youtuber and bestselling author, Louise Pentland. Every week Louise is joined by two special guests (one of which was The Pussycat Dolls star, Kimberly Wyatt!) who have an in-depth discussion about the struggles of having kids and also offer up some great #MumHacks as well their best buys. It’s relatable and realistic and isn’t too long – each episode is about 29 to 35 minutes. Whether you’re a parent or not, we highly recommend listening to this podcast if you’re in need of a good giggle. www.podcasts.apple.com

READ The Perks of Being a Wallflower author, Stephen Chbosky has recently released his long-awaited second novel – Imaginary Friend. The story follows the life of Kate Reese and her son Christopher as they move to a new town to escape Kate’s abusive relationship. All is well in their new lives until Christopher goes missing for a few days and returns completely unscathed, apart from a voice in his head that only he can hear. Imaginary Friend has come as a surprise to fans of Chbosky as there was little to no warning that the author was penning a second book, but what’s even more surprising is the switch in genre from Young Adult to Horror. So, does the novel live up to expectations? Not if you’re looking for the same kind of self-reflexive coming of age story as The Perks of Being a Wallflower, but certainly if you’re looking for an exciting read with great character development. Imaginary Friend is an amazing read in its own right, although we don’t recommend reading it alone at night! Available for R333 from www.exclusivbooks.co.za
