The cool girls are bringing ’90s hair to the French Riviera. At this year’s Cannes Film Festival, we’ve seen Dua Lipa’s mall bangs channel Pam Anderson and Helen Mirren’s blue dye job make her the queen of red-carpet grunge. Only adding to the fever around fashion’s favorite era are the actors and models namely, Laura Harrier, Iris Law, and The White Lotus’s Simona Tabasco serving up slicked, flipped hair. It was at the premiere of Hirokazu Koreeda’s film Monster last week that the aforementioned trio aligned on the elevated wet-look style.

An aesthetic based on a high-octane dose of color, style, and pretty playfulness is one destined to carry an influential, highly contagious air. Barbie-core seems to have permeated the whole of the fashion world (or at the very least, resort season), most recently evidenced by the cadre of Priscilla Presley lengths and pop star ponytails that punctuated the baby pink and blue ensembles on the Versace runway. The show took place today in Cannes, cheekily towelwrapped hair and metallic manicures teaming with polka dots and butterfly motifs in an aura of spirited glamour. But it was the mane volume a combed-back bouffant that towered and flipped, along with ample updos of similar reach that took the show to fantastical new heights, the sort of beauty imagined with exaggerated luxury in mind. Hair was set off by makeup looks from artist Pat McGrath, pouts painted in pinks, nudes, and brickish burgundies finished with a touch of luminous highlight, while cat-eye liner was furthered by copious lashes. In short, it, like the Chanel runway before it, offered an ode to Barbie and her full-on cultural resurgence, courtesy of Greta Gerwig.

Bonjout emphasizes that while science is always at the forefront in French pharmacy, natural remedies are respected for their organic healing abilities (like the potent plant cells in her Le Balm). She also recommends royal jelly, a nutrient-dense substance “produced by worker honeybees,” she says, adding, “it’s the only food for the queen bee.” It can be eaten or applied directly to skin as the “best immune system booster,” and it’s packed with antioxidants that fight inflammation and boost wound healing. She buys ArkoRoyal Organic Royal Jelly 2500 mg 20 vials in France, and mentions that Beehive Botanicals Fresh Royal Jelly, 100% Pure could be an equivalent swap. “It’s rich in carbs, protein, amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals,” she says.
