If anything, take Lopez’s new styling approach as a sign to experiment with a new look this season. Clearly, switching up her wardrobe paid off for Lopez. If you’re a minimalist lover, maybe try maximalist-dressing for a week. Venture outside that comfort zone! Style takes no days off. This week, celebrities illustrated that point whether they were headed to an extravagant outing or spending time indoors. Case in point: Oprah wore an opulent coordinated royal purple silk suit with of-the-moment cargo pants, to show off her expansive wardrobe of “all things purple.” The casual flex came shortly after the star-studded trailer for the film adaptation of The Color Purple musical released. The television mogul calls for soon-to-be viewers to wear what else? purple to screenings. “I’m giving you six months to get your outfits together,” Oprah says with a pointed finger. We’re listening!

There were other fabulous downtime fits. Namely, singer Shygirl shared some demur bed selfies while wearing a ruffled silk skirt. And we got a glimpse of Olympic diver Tom Daley crocheting pieces for his self-launched Made With Love label in a bicep-baring checkered vest. With the Cannes Film Festival in full-swing, there were decidedly more dramatic and luxurious offerings
posted from abroad. Elle Fanning, a darling of the cinema event, showed off her Cartier choker. While model Ashley Graham shared some fierce blurry backseat photos of her in a car, dressed in a one-shoulder black dress and thigh-high strappy heels. Selena Gomez, ever the astute poster, shared some red-washed photos of her enjoying dinner in Paris with a friend, whilst wearing oval sunglasses and a baggy leather jacket.

When it comes to her fashion choices, Jennifer Lopez goes for bold. Who could forget her plunging Versace dress from the Grammys, or more recently, her fascinator hat at the Met Gala? When the star gets dressed, she aims to turn heads. But it seems even J.Lo isn’t immune to the summer’s persisting minimalism movement. This weekend in L.A., Lopez stepped out in a pared-back ensemble that’s much quieter than her signature style. Thanks to labels such as Khaite, The Row, and Gabriela Hearst, a hushed sensibility has been trending this spring and summer season all neutral color ways and subtle tailoring and that polished vibe has clearly had an effect on Lopez. The star stepped out wearing a classic white tank and paired it with black wide-leg dress pants and a cropped cardigan. Her Chanel loafers and puffy Coach bag featured relatively discreet logos as well a far cry from the bold designer monogrammed looks she’s worn in the past. The whole look was effortless and elegant in a way that’s not trying to be noticed. It’s a dramatic switch-up from, say, the chunky Timberlands and huge aviators that Lopez
usually wears.
