The first time I really noticed Rae as a trendsetter was when she attended the 2021 MTV Movie Awards in a daring Christopher Esber look styled by Roach. Her revealing bandeau top and lowcut maxi dress were bold choices for a more casual event, one that cemented her in my mind as a fashion girl on the rise. Her risk paid off. Styled again by Roach, Rae was one of the first TikTokers to score an invite to the Met Gala, walking the red carpet in a cherry Tom Ford–era Gucci suit. Since then, she’s only leaned into archival fashion, turning heads in a revealing vintage Jean Louis Scherrer look at the LACMA Art and Film Gala, and opting for a surprising Gareth Pugh gown at the CFDA Awards.
Rae's style savvy is what has helped her bridge the gap between her younger and older fanbases. Around 2021, coinciding with her first foray into music, Rae began upgrading her personal style with the help of Law Roach (her long-retired image architect) and her current stylist, Ryan Hastings.
