Her approach is instinctive: “I don’t know what I’m doing!” One thing she’s approaching with purpose: the upcoming election. “I almost don’t want to get my hopes up about what might happen,” she said, referring to Kamala Harris’s campaign. McDonald will spend the remaining weeks of the summer organizing Broadway events for Harris and campaigns to get black people to vote. “We should buckle up and buckle down,” she said.

McDonald’s daughter will be home from summer camp soon. I ask McDonald how she feels about Rose looming in the distance. “I’m scared. The prospect of failure, not finding her. Diving to the bottom of the pool and not finding her,” she says, eyes wide. “But I’m going to give it my

The spring/summer 2025 shows in Paris were dominated by a number of notable, viral moments including Kylie Jenner’s Coperni debut mixed with a lighthearted, creative vibe. On the beauty front, Dries Van Noten introduced us to colorful mascara, Balmain showcased the sleekest blow-dry, while Dior’s simple ponytail offered easy hair inspiration. Windows to the soul, at Ganni, Dries Van Noten, and Loewe, the accentuated eyes said it all. Along with a swipe of Arctic blue or deep coral eyeshadow just above the lash line, feathery false lashes were applied to the outer corners of the eyes for a mystical effect at Ganni. The next day, at Dries Van Noten, bright yellow and red mascara were applied to the lashes for a vibrant effect. Loewe, under the direction of Pat McGrath, went all out with the glitter, with models wearing large gold crescents over their eyes. Lashes were left bare and untouched, suggesting that perhaps we're entering an era where we'll only choose one bold aspect of eye makeup to flaunt.
