He may be on the verge of an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown (and yes, I say that based on the trailer so what?), but Timothée Chalamet doesn't seem to be content with his wins even now: namely, his upcoming role in a compelling drama about a professional table tennis player, directed by Good Time and Uncut Gems' Josh Safdie and co-starring an Oscar-winning wellness mogul. Written by the filmmaker and his frequent collaborator Ronald Bronstein, and co-produced by Chalamet and beloved indie label A24, the new release will be titled Marty Supreme and is reportedly loosely inspired by table tennis player Marty Reisman. Born in Manhattan in the 1930s, he began playing table tennis on the Lower East Side, competing for stakes and prizes, before becoming the United States men's singles champion. His memoir, The Money Player: The Confessions of America's Greatest Table Tennis Player and Hustler, was published in 1974.

It's an interesting move from the Goop founder, who has taken a step back from the big screen in recent years she was last seen in 2019's Avengers: Endgame as well as Netflix's The Politician.
