This season, Fellow Earthlings continues to work with Luar, one of the brand’s most frequent collaborators. “Working with Raul and the Luar team is always a fun and creative experience,” says Sydney. Back in spring 2024, they created exaggerated sunglasses that double as masks; stars like Solange and Doja Cat wore them. This season, they created thick shields made from black marble acetate. “They were inspired by the glam punk movement of the late ’90s,” says Sydney. A pinch-yourself moment came when Madonna wore them front row. “It’s so iconic,” says Sydney.
The label doesn't just create runway-ready frames, though. The brand has recently taken on other special projects, like creating cat-eye glasses for Blake Lively, which were featured in the
September issue of Vogue. "We've also created some really special designs for Adele over the years," Sydney says of the brand's growing celebrity clientele. "I really feel like she's the Paulette Guinet of our time." The co-founder adds that she and Christopher continue to explore ways to make their manufacturing process more environmentally friendly. "A big focus for us is developing an in-house recycling program," she says, "which allows us to repurpose manufacturing waste into new eyewear. We're also in the process of becoming the first eyewear manufacturing facility to run entirely on renewable energy, with plans to build a solar farm on our campus."
As for the next hot fashion brand Fellow Earthlings wants to create some unusual shades with, they've got their sights set on one of fashion's most beloved designers. "I love Emily Bode's work and her emphasis on using vintage fabrics and telling personal stories through fashion," Sydney says. They're hoping to do that collaboration and many more. "We want to be a trusted partner for designers," she says. "Your friends in the eyewear industry!" Two years ago, when Kylie Jenner attended one of her signature beach photoshoots for Instagram, she wore a white pleated dress by Atlein that she couldn't stop wearing. "I first became aware of their brand when my stylist brought me a few pieces," Jenner tells Vogue. "I had just had a baby and I remember not feeling great but I loved that dress." Back in the present, Jenner is unveiling a new
collaboration with designer Antonin Tron of Atlein today, via her own clothing label, Khy. “I always feel so confident and comfortable wearing Antonin’s creations,” Jenner says. “I love his intricate embellishments and layering.”
