Charming, amber Radley was in big sister mode all afternoon: docile, emotionless, and a little too much after the first few setups. (No wonder Olaseni calls her a “temperamental teenager.”)

Adorable little Harper was just along for the ride happily sitting, staying, or going downstairs as needed but also a little sleepy. And Finch was a real playboy: barking, breaking ranks, and lying on her back (a little like Veruschka in Blow-Up, actually) for belly rubs. In other words, they were heaven: not exactly Dorothy, Rose, and Blanche, but close.

Harper's weirdest nickname? "'Miss Harper', because she likes to sit on benches in the park and judge other dogs, like a stern teacher or critic." Harper: Whines every time I sit on the bench, trying to get me to let her jump on my lap. Either let her sit on my lap - because she won't leave me - or find somewhere else to sit! Finch: She has a tendency to find and hide strange items. For example, she once took her keys and hid them in her crate, causing a search that lasted over an hour. Dogs have some great qualities. They bond strongly and hate to be apart, showing their deep bond. They are always ready to protect each other, reflecting their loyalty and protective

nature. They are also extremely affectionate and intelligent, often learning new tricks quickly. Their need for attention can sometimes be a bit overwhelming, as they will insist on being the centre of your world – whether you are ready or not! They are also extremely happy whenever they see their canine friends, highlighting their friendly and sociable personalities.

All of this is fine and simple enough, but I remember wishing I had more time to play with the dogs. The tawny heads and wagging tails when I left my stuff at Anna’s weren’t enough. Who were these golden girls?? I wanted to know. What were they really like? So you can imagine my delight when, for several hours on a recent weekday afternoon, I watched nine-year-old Radley, eight-year-old Harper, and five-year-old Finch the newest member of the pack have their portraits taken for OK McCausland, with Olaseni standing by to help, of course. All three dogs were as natural in front of the camera as you’d expect: fresh from PupCulture, their groomer in Tribeca (they have regular weekly appointments), they were meticulously groomed, lightly scented, and completely professional if a little chatty at times. (Finch has a lot of say in the art direction, apparently.)
