The couple’s wedding was held on September 21, 2024, at Corinne’s father’s house in Thousand Oaks, CA. “It was never a question. We always knew we would get married in my dad’s backyard,” the bride said. “He has a beautiful lot. It looked like a wedding venue. We couldn’t think of anything more special than a wedding at his house. It just felt right.” “The day after we got engaged, we asked Jamie if we could have the wedding at his house,” Joe said. “The house is very special to the whole family and it felt like the natural thing to do.” The Foxx family then spent the summer preparing the house for the wedding, including fresh paint, landscaping, and furniture. Corinne noted that “even though my dad had lived there for almost 20 years, the house still felt brand new.”
After five years of dating, Joe began planning an elaborate proposal in Ireland in the spring of 2023. “However, when my dad [Jamie Foxx] got sick, our plans changed and we ended up spending our summer in Chicago while he recovered,” Corinne explains. “Unbeknownst to me, Joe changed his plans so he could still propose on the same day just in a different city. He
found a park in Chicago that had cherry blossoms in bloom and proposed there.” For the proposal, Joe made sure to include the entire Foxx clan. “He flew in with my mom from Los Angeles and had my aunts hide in a bush and FaceTiming my dad the whole time. He even planned a very special post-engagement party in my dad’s room [at a physical rehabilitation center] in Chicago.” It was a small celebration, but very intimate and meaningful.”
Corinne Foxx and Joseph “Joe” Hooten’s first meeting sounds like the beginning of a romantic comedy they met at a graduation party when they were both students at the University of Southern California. Joe, now a television executive and producer, was living with a high school friend of Corinne’s at the time. “Even though we didn’t know each other very well, I always had a crush on Joe,” admits Corinne, an actor, writer, and producer. It wasn’t until years later that they reconnected on social media. “I liked an old photo of Joe on Instagram and he DMed me right away,” she recalls. “Our first date was on a sailboat, where Joe was living at the time.”
