Creative director Nadège Vanhee “had this amazing inspiration to create a whole universe of an artist,” says Gregoris Pyrpylis, creative director of Hermès Beauty. During their conversation about the makeup look for the SS25 collection of sheer silk fishnet tights, apron dresses, poplin jackets, and wooden-soled sandals, “she said, ‘I want the girls to look their best, but how can you translate my collection into makeup?’” he says. “And I was like, ‘Really? All I can see is the sophistication and optimism in your collection.’ So I wanted to create that kind of atmosphere, that kind of universe, even on the face.”

Hairstylist Gary Gill interpreted the directive as a girl staying up late and working some of the spirit of the night before into her day. He spoke to Vanhee about incorporating “a little bit of subtle quirkiness” into the hairstyle, a little imperfection. He says there’s an “artistic element to it,” where a girl “might have gone out, tied her hair pretty tight, and woke up the next morning and the hair’s been parted a little bit and just pushed to the side.” It’s an artist’s version of a bedhead, and a balance between hard and soft. “All the partings are very, very strict,” he says. “It’s a little bit masculine, but also a little bit nice and soft at the edges and the back, just to balance that out.”
