“Being a brat is can I say, being an asshole?” Jordyn Wheathers whispers. “Serves you asshole! Just being yourself. I’m a very shy person, but here I get to be myself and express my style and be an extrovert. It just means coming out of your shell and being yourself.” This past New York Fashion Week, models on Luar’s spring 2025 runway showed up wearing giant shield sunglasses. They were impossible to ignore, accentuating almost every signature style of the brand with their bold, oversized silhouettes. Interestingly, we soon learned that this statement style originated from a collaboration between designer Raul Lopez and Fellow Earthlings, a Canadian eyewear label based in Prince Edward Island that’s quickly becoming a go-to source for fun fashion eyewear.

While brats have dominated the zeitgeist lately, fans also showed up for Sivan. One attendee, D, wore leather pants (leftover from last year's cowboy Halloween costume) and a harness to honor Sivan's recent BDSM-like look. While D held a homemade sign that looked like a bottle of poppers (which they made for the Pool, Poppers, and Pride party in June), tank tops and T-shirts
were everywhere, all referencing Sivan's poppers. Whether people were repping Charli xcx or Troye Sivan, there was a sense of community that permeated the space. "Being a brat is being unapologetic about who you are, being proud of yourself, not being afraid to show your true identity, your personality. It's the ultimate form of self-love," says Grant Basilio.

The childlike energy continued inside. Second daughter Ella Emhoff dutifully performed the “Apple” dance in a “childish” beanie (the Secret Service, however, declined to participate) while Troye Sivan himself took the stage in a custom Pandora “sweat” necklace. Later in the show, Lorde joined Charli for a remix with matching outfits from Saint Laurent’s super-sexy fall 2024 collection. “It’s amazing to be a small part of a big cultural moment,” Horan said. “It’s rewarding to see any of Charli’s style reflected back in people’s looks. I think the most important aspect is Charli herself she’s a beacon for all of us in an age where we’re tired of artists trying to appeal to everyone.”
