Is Your Child Ready For Kindergarten?

Page 1

Is Your Child Ready For Kindergarten? Most parents have a concern about their child being ready for kindergarten or not. You want to start your child at the right time too. If too early, it's a difficult experience. If too late, the child will get done with school at a much later age. There are some things Helene Goldnadel believes to look for to make sure your child is potentially ready for kindergarten.

Have your child been socialized with other children? If your child hasn't been around other kids, you might want to work on this. You need to know your child will get along with other kids and understand basic respect. This is normally learned through types of daycare, church functions, preschool, or other activities where your child is around other children.

Is your child emotionally mature enough to be apart from you? If your child is clingy and has strong emotional attachments to you, you might have to wait another year.

Can your child learn basic skills? If your child is already been learning things like the ABCs and numbers, this is a good sign that they are ready to learn in a classroom environment. While your child doesn't need to know all of this before entering kindergarten, it sure does help.

Can your child focus? If your child has very little attention on anything, school is going to be difficult for him or her.
