2015 Sorenson’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon NAPA VALLEY

First planted in 1872 by Swiss-Italian immigrants and named after one of the longest working winemakers in Napa Valley history—Bill Sorenson.

Bill completed 41 consecutive vintages at Burgess, the Sorenson vineyard is the beating heart of the Burgess estate. Connecting past to present, this vineyard is carved into the western-facing slopes overlooking Napa Valley and surrounded by pines and redwoods. A vintage with low yields, this 2015 Sorenson’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from the oldest vines in the vineyard and possesses notes of dried black plums and caramelized blackberry. Complemented by earthy aromas of baked clay and cigar humidor, the palate culminates in a velvety tannic finish. Antonio Galloni of Vinous calls the wine “quite possibly the most exotic wine I have ever tasted from Burgess.”

BRAND INTRODUCTION

“Heitz Martha’s Vineyard is one of Napa’s iconic bottlings; the 1974 counts among the greatest wines in Napa history.” – JA M E S M O L E S WO R T H , W I N E S P E C TATO R

Family owned since its founding in 1961, Heitz Cellar’s legacy runs deep. It is widely considered a winery legend, having played a major role in shaping the history of Napa Valley winemaking. In the late 1950’s,

The wines are made with an unwavering dedication to quality from organically farmed, 100% Napa Valley fruit, and a responsibility to the sustainability of Napa Valley.

Heitz Cellar features prized estate vineyards planted in six of Napa Valley’s sub-appellations: Oakville, Rutherford, St. Helena, Howell Mountain, Oak Knoll District, and Calistoga.

pioneering vintner Joe Heitz ushered in Napa’s modern era with his iconic, globally celebrated wines, including Napa Valley’s first vineyard-designated Cabernet Sauvignon, the renowned Heitz Cellar Martha’s Vineyard. Sixty years of the Heitz family’s dedication to viticulture, stewardship, and classic winemaking have maintained the winery’s notoriety as a benchmark amongst its peers in California and Europe.

This allows for an incredible breadth of diversity in terroir, and the ability to craft wines that are a pure representation of place. A proud leader in agricultural stewardship, 100% of the vineyards at Heitz Cellar are grown certified CCOF organic, and all vineyards will become Demeter certified biodynamic by the end of 2023.

In April 2018, Heitz Cellar entered an exciting new chapter as this rich legacy was passed into the hands of the Lawrence family, whose deep roots in agriculture and commitment to the same core values of fine winemaking made it a perfect match.

2017 Linda Falls Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon HOWELL MOUNTAIN

Introduced in 2013, Linda Falls Vineyard is the third and most recent of the Heitz single-vineyard cabernet sauvignons.

Perched atop Howell Mountain, Linda Falls Vineyard has a unique topography that allows it to deliver a distinct expression of mountain terroir in the classic Heitz style. Stretching above the fog at an average elevation of 1,500 feet, this area is known for welldrained, volcanic soils and a cooler climate which results in longer hang time. The vines are planted in narrow rows, deliberately positioned to capture the strongest rays of the summer sun. As the fruit matures, the dense spacing and abundant sunshine leads to a low yield of smaller berries with thick, deeply hued skins.

Valley established ranches on the remote eastern side of Howell Mountain in the mid 1800’s. The vineyards here contain a unique energy — bound in layers of volcanic soil, latent and patiently waiting to be discovered, it is a terroir capable of producing concentrated, distinct wines. There is incredible potential in this lofty site blanketed by 30-year-old vines grasping onto volcanic tufa soils.

The intent is to capture the wild purity of the mountain and the structure of its rugged terrain in wines both elegant and robust. To do so takes patience, reverence, and care: allowing the fruit to flourish through biodynamic farming, extended maceration, long élevage, and low intervention winemaking practices.

2020 Sauvignon Blanc NAPA VALLEY

Sourced from a steep east facing mountain slope, these Sauvignon Blanc vines were planted in 1996.

The well-drained volcanic soil forces the vines to dig deep into the bedrock for water. This exposure to the various layers of soils comprised of volcanic ash and rock renders a wine of incredible minerality and opulent complexity. Vigilant farming is practiced to retain aromatics while preserving the natural acidity. Use of concrete, stainless steel and large oak vessels marry textures and weight, and lees enhance the saline quality while longer pressing builds structure.

This newest single vineyard chardonnay is sourced solely from the Wenzlau Vineyard, an estate holding. The vineyard is farmed using organic practices and sits surrounded by Rita’s Crown, Mt. Carmel, and Sea Smoke Vineyards, on a steep, dramatic hillside just above the Santa Ynez River and across from the famed Sanford & Benedict Vineyard.

2019 Bentrock Vineyard Chardonnay STA. RITA HILLS

“A gorgeous wine, the 2019 Chardonnay Bentrock Vineyard dazzles with its purity and translucence. Crushed rocks, lemon confit, white flowers and mint give the 2019 its brilliant, sculpted personality. Soaring aromatics and bright saline accents build into the regal finish.” ANTONIO GALLONI

Racines is lucky to work with two parcels of Chardonnay from the Bentrock vineyard, which lies to the western end of Santa Rosa Road and is quickly gaining renown for its quality. Both facing north, the first parcel sits atop the vineyard looking out over the Sta. Rita Hills on very rocky soils, in an extremely exposed and windy perch. The second, a little lower and with more soil, sits just to the east and is protected by the hilltop the other piece sits on.

2019 Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Chardonnay STA. RITA HILLS

“A rich, effusive wine, the 2019 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict offers a stunning expression of this site. All the classic S&B signatures come through, kicked up with an extra touch of textural richness. Creamy and silky in the glass, the 2019 is outrageously beautiful. Lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers and tangerine oil are some of the many notes that build in a soft, silky Chardonnay that dazzles from start to finish. Impressive.” ANTONIO GALLONI

From the famous Sanford & Benedict Vineyard, this wine comes exclusively from the historic parcel of original plantings dating back to 1971. These chardonnay vines, which are situated on a gently north facing slope with thin soils consisting of lots of shale and chert, are the oldest vines in the Sta. Rita Hills.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

Vineyard Details Soil: Elder chert & shale over clay Cultivation: Farmed using organic methods Varietal Composition & AVA 100% Chardonnay | Sta. Rita Hills AVA Élevage 11 months – 30% new French oak – 7 months in stainless steel

2019 Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir STA. RITA HILLS

“The 2019 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills is an attractive, ethereal wine. Sweet dried cherry, mint, tobacco and sage are some of the aromas and flavors that open in the glass… This is an especially savory style of Pinot with plenty of aromatic presence, and the fruit pushed into the background.” ANTONIO GALLONI

The Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir comes from vineyards that lie on the Santa Rosa Road corridor of the Santa Rita Hills and is farmed using organic practices. These sites consist of varying soil types from sandy loam, clay loam, chert, and shale. This is a wine that best represents the potential of the whole region.

2019 Sainte Rose Pinot Noir STA. RITA HILLS

“…The 2019 is a blend of the best barrels from Domaine de la Côte and La Encantada vineyards. Ripe red cherry, blood orange, spice, menthol and a good deal of savoriness from the 50% whole clusters are front and center. Pliant and creamy, the 2019 is so expressive today. A few years in bottle should help the tannins soften.” ANTONIO GALLONI

This wine is sourced from four well established, reputable vineyards: La Encantada, Domaine de la Cote, Sanford & Benedict and La Rinconada. The vineyard sites for this cuvée’s first bottling are all located off Santa Rosa Road, or in its French translation, Sainte Rose.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

2019 La Rinconada Pinot Noir STA. RITA HILLS

“The 2019 Pinot Noir La Rinconada Vineyard is a heady, dazzling wine. The 100% whole clusters lend striking aromatic top notes that soar out of the glass. Sweet red cherry, sage, rose petal, blood orange and lavender give this beguiling, layered Pinot tons of complexity. Savory, wild and constantly changing in the glass, the Rinconada has so much to offer. This brilliant, captivating Pinot from Racines has so much to offer.” ANTONIO GALLONI

This wine is made from the upper plantings at the La Rinconada Vineyard, neighboring the famous Sanford & Benedict Vineyard, consisting of deep, dark, rocky soils. This is a selection of Mt. Eden cuttings that Richard Sanford brought down from Northern California years ago.

2019 Sanford & Benedict Pinot Noir STA. RITA HILLS

“The 2019 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict is a powerful, brooding wine. The high percentage of stems (75%) undoubtedly adds savory intensity, but it also masks some site character. The 2019 is a gorgeous wine, but it is also austere and not an especially typical expression of this site. I hope to have a chance to taste it in a decade.” ANTONIO GALLONI

A combination of three parcels throughout the famous Sanford & Benedict vineyard. Two of the plantings are 10-12 years old, but certainly responsible for the dark, deep core of this wine. The third piece, a small fermentation of the original, own-rooted plantings from 1971, brings elegance and floral lift.

Grand Reserve Sparkling STA. RITA HILLS

"After more than fifteen years of consulting throughout the world and numerous partnership requests outside of France, the wines of Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs that I discovered from Santa Barbara, finally got me to select these magnificent terroirs in the Sta. Rita Hills to produce, for the first time, limited quantities of my own Sparkling within the Racines project." RODOLPHE PÉTERS

The Grand Reserve cuvée is a sparkling Blanc de Blanc traditional method consisting of 100% Chardonnay. The 2018 vintage base also includes 15% Reserve wines from the 2017 harvest, and blends various terroirs from the Sta Rita Hills. This wine is sourced from Wenzlau Family Vineyard, Sanford & Benedict Vineyard and Bentrock Vineyard. The varying soil types of these three distinct sites leads to an elegant, expressive wine with great minerality and length.

2020 V I N TAG E R E P O R T

From bud break to harvest, the 2020 vintage in Burgundy can be characterized by its significant advancement compared to other vintages. Winter was relatively mild with one icy episode in February. In mid-March, France entered its first lockdown and the sun settled in. The warm peaks of the summer and the decrease in rainfall put a slight stress on the vines, however, in a heterogeneous way. The conditions reflect the reality of climate change, but also emphasize the diversity of Burgundy’s terroirs. Brian Sieve, Technical Director and Winemaker at Domaine de Montille, refers to the 2020 vintage as “very generous.” The harvest started on August 20th in Volnay and Pommard.

For the red wines, Sieve describes them as “[delivering] a crunchy freshness with a complexity and density from the dark red fruits which are accompanied by spicy and floral notes.” Ripe and concentrated with particularly silky tannins, these generous and harmonious wines are accessible young and are also very clearly tailored for cellaring. The white wines “have a generous mid palate and texture but have captured a lovely freshness, walking that fine line of both sumptuous and gracious. Acidity is queen in 2020.” Pure and precise, these approachable wines are a very promising vintage for cellaring.

This left bank Cru sits above the village of Milly with steep southeast facing slopes that reach 38% grade in some places. As a result of morning sun exposure, the grapes from this terroir ripen slowly and maintain their acidity, which delivers wines with intensity, a fine minerality and bright stone fruit character.

2019 Château Grenouilles Grand Cru CHABLIS

Sitting in the middle of the Colline des Grand Crus (hill of the Grand Crus) on the right bank of the Serein River, Grenouilles is the smallest of the Grand Crus and La Chablisienne owns over 75% of this climat.

The name, which dates from the early 14th century, is a reference to the frogs that visit the vineyard from the Serein in the spring. The topography of this climat is similar to Bougros with a steeper lower slope that flattens a bit towards the top of the cru. Geology together with its excellent south and southwest exposure deliver optimum ripeness and phenolic maturity, which yields generous wines with finesse, precision and strength—a complex tension gilded with minerality.

2020 Les Clos Grand Cru CHABLIS

Grand Cru Les Clos, considered a benchmark of Chablis Grand Cru, is believed to be the first vineyard planted on this hillside in 1267.

The name is a reference to the stone walls that once surrounded the best vines. Les Clos is also the largest of the climats on the hill of the Grand Crus and the site stretches from the top to the bottom of the hillside with desirable southwest exposure and very homogeneous soil. The ideal sun exposure, soil and steep slope provide superb ripening conditions and the resulting wines are known for their power, texture, ageability and intense minerality while maintaining the characteristic racy acidity of Chablis.

Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Extra Brut NV CHAMPAGNE

“Extra Brut is a champagne for purists. This dense and rigorous blend offers a precise yet approachable vision of champagne combined with a saline texture from its Chouilly subsoils.” JÉRÔME LEGRAS

The grapes for the Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut are grown in the family’s oldest hilltop parcels where the deep-rooted vines draw their complexity from the terroir’s unique mother rock. Chouilly benefits from a primarily eastern and northern exposure with gently sloping hillsides and lowlands which impart richness and strength to the wines. Chouilly subsoil is mostly composed of hard “Belemnites” chalk, which allows the vines to grow roots deep while also providing good drainage. This textured, precise and persistent wine is 100% Grand Cru with excellent aging potential.

PORTFOLIO INTRODUCTION

Established in 1435, the Mazzei family is one of Tuscany’s oldest wine dynasties, having cultivated vineyards and crafted fine wine for over 600 years in Fonterutoli in the heart of Chianti Classico. Leading the portfolio today are the Marchesi Mazzei, brothers Francesco and Filippo, as well as Filippo’s son Giovanni, the 25th generation. While the family has always honored their legacy, producing acclaimed wines from their estate vineyards in Chianti Classico, the current generation has also expanded their holdings

across Italy. The Belguardo wine estate in Maremma provides exciting expressions of both indigenous and international varietals, while Zisola in Sicily spotlights the rich heritage of the land and the potential of Nero d’Avola. Villa Marcello in Veneto, helmed by Giovanni Mazzei, is an ode to tradition and innovation in Prosecco. All of the estates are farmed with a commitment to reducing environmental impact and fostering sustainability. This balance of preservation and evolution is rooted in the Castello di Fonterutoli, the historic family seat.

The Cà Romé philosophy is reflected in the name: Cà is short for casa, which means “home” and refers to Romano’s home and a winery that is run by a family, not a corporation. As winemaker, Giuseppe upholds his father’s use of traditional methods with long fermentations to bring out the fruit’s natural properties. The wines are matured in a mixture of Slavonian oak casks and barriques of varying sizes to emphasize balance in oak, fruit, and intensity. The rich body and

2018 Barbaresco RIO SORDO DOCG

From the “sunny side”, sörì in the Piedmont dialect, of the Rio Sordo cru, this estate-owned 1.5 hectare plot is of the Nebbiolo Michet variety and is planted with a density of 5,000 vines per hectare, with a very low crop yield of 1.3 kg per vine.

The bouquet is ethereal and complex, with notes of wild roses, violets and licorice continuing to a silky, mouth-filling and structured palate. The Marengo family considers it one of their very finest efforts, which is already rewarding after just one year in bottle and will be even more exciting to taste after 3 to 15 years, especially in outstanding vintages.
