AUGUST 22-27, 2023 play like someone left the gate open
Welcome to the 120th edition of the Central Wisconsin State Fair. We have jam-packed the week with fun, food, entertainment, and educational opportunities that cover the entire grounds! From 4-H exhibits to carnival rides, I challenge everyone to enjoy and play like someone left the gate open. Check out the Land O’ Lakes entertainment tent starting Tuesday and until closing on Sunday, you won’t find a dull moment. On the grounds new this year is the Dominguez Attractions Family Show. This show has been traveling the country and has been seen on America’s Got Talent! Back by demand is the Pleasure Valley, racing pigs and ducks, located this year back by the Expo buildings. If you’re looking for National Entertainment, 38 Special, Hairball, and Scotty McCreery will be performing in the Thorogood Mainstage and VIP Area. On the weekend we will be having Rice’s Bull Riding and Barrel Racing and the Demolition Derby, and to think we have been doing this for 120 years! On January 22nd, 1903 a large group gathered at City Hall to organize a Fair Association. The object of this Association was the improvement of agriculture, horticulture, and the mechanical and household arts. Provisions were made for cattle shows and general fairs. The new fair was to be held in Marshfield at the City Driving Park. The park had been established in 1892 by a group interested in horse racing. And that’s how it all began. Happy Anniversary Central Wisconsin State Fair!!
Thank you for attending and please thank and visit our sponsors! We couldn’t do this without them! Now let’s play like someone left the gate open!

We would like to invite you to participate in the Market Animal Sale Auction. This auction is the result of months of hard work for Wood County 4-H and FFA members. The livestock offers a unique opportunity for youth to market their animals and to then expand their future livestock projects or assist with future endeavors. In addition, it offers a wonderful opportunity to support the youth of our community.
As a buyer, an effort is made to advertise and promote your involvement and support. The winning bidders will be announced during the sale. Buyers receive a complimentary photograph of the member and animal. Grand and Reserve Champions also have their pictures taken with the buyers after the sale. All the animals are raised by our local FFA or 4-H members as a part of their project work for the Fair.

After more than four decades, 38 SPECIAL continues to bring their signature blast of Southern Rock to over 100 cities a year. At each and every show, thousands of audience members are amazed by the explosive power of the band’s performance. Their many Gold and Platinum album awards stand in testament to the endurance of a legendary powerhouse. Guitarist/vocalist DON BARNES says it’s all about maintaining that intensity in their live shows. “We never wanted to be one of those bands that had maybe gotten a little soft or complacent over the years. We’re a team, and it’s always been kind of an unspoken rule that we don’t slack up, we stack up. We go out there every night to win.” Completing the team are bassist BARRY DUNAWAY, drummer GARY MOFFATT, and keyboardist/vocalist BOBBY CAPPS. The most recent addition to the band is legendary virtuoso guitarist and vocalist JERRY RIGGS. For 38 Special onstage, it is a celebration of camaraderie and brotherhood, a precision unit bringing dedication and honesty to a long history of classic songs, as well as surprisingly fresh new material. Since 1976, the band has released more than 15 albums. And from the start, they’ve toured relentlessly, bringing their signature brand of ‘muscle and melody’ to fans worldwide. It is that steely determination that lives on in the hearts of these ‘Wild-Eyed Southern Boys.’

BRENDAN BROOKS
CHRISTIAN MUSIC
SUNDAY, AUGUST 27
10:00 A.M. - 11:30 A.M.
The first thing you should know about me is that I love Jesus. I was born and raised in a very rural area in southwest Wisconsin. Go Packers! I started playing guitar at age 15 and began leading worship for a youth group at 16. In 2007 I helped start a band called Finding Fortress. After varied success and drama through an opportunity to move to Nashville we fell apart in 2011. Through it all I now see God was saying now is not the time or place. After heading to Nashville my first solo album was released in the summer of 2016. I am a worship leader at heart but also love getting people on their feet clapping and singing along to my original music.

ALICE IN DAIRYLAND
Meet Ashley
Ashley Hagenow is a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in agricultural communication and marketing, with minors in animal science and agricultural and food business management. Throughout college, she was involved in Agriculture Future of America, the National Agri-Marketing Association, the Gopher Dairy Club, and the University of Minnesota dairy challenge and dairy judging teams. “To serve in the role of Alice in Dairyland, as the official ambassador of Wisconsin’s abundant and diverse agriculture industry, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, “ said Hagenow. “I have always loved connecting with others about agriculture, and Alice has the ability to connect with a wide variety of consumers to share more about this dynamic industry and the hardworking individuals who make it possible.” Alice in Dairyland is a one-year, full-time public relations professional employed by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (WI DATCP). Each year, Alice in Dairyland travels more than 30,000 miles throughout the state, promoting Wisconsin agriculture (stat. 93.40(1) (e) and stat. 93.44 (2)) to various audiences. Additionally, she will conduct hundreds of media interviews, speeches, and school presentations.

FAIREST Meet Taylor OF THE FAIR
Hello, My name is Taylor Kundinger. I am overjoyed to be the 2023 Central Wisconsin State Fair Fairest of the Fair.
I have recently graduated from Marshfield High School, and plan to attend the University of Stevens Point for Elementary Education. I live on a small hobby farm, where my family raises beef cattle and ornamental poultry. I have been involved with the Central Wisconsin State Fair ever since I was very young. My mother has a picture of me at the fair at 2 weeks old, showing sheep in open class. As long as I can remember, my family has exhibited at the fair. I am a third generation exhibitor with my parents as well as with my Nana and Papa. We started with sheep, but as my sister and I got older, we realized that we like showing beef more. So, we made a switch to cattle and I have been showing cattle ever since. In 2019, my second year of showing, I had the great honor of winning my showmanship class in the junior show at the Central Wisconsin State Fair.
I believe that the Fairest of the Fair program is a great way for young women to get involved in their community. This program has helped me work on my communication skills. I have had the pleasure of attending many events and meeting new people. My favorite events are the Dairy Breakfasts, not only do they have great food, but it is a great way to interact with the community. At these events, one can really see the community come together and enjoy a wonderful breakfast. A special thank you to the ambassadors who have been at my side this summer. I hope to see you all at the Central Wisconsin State fair!

Nasonville Dairy is located right outside of Marshfield, in Central Wisconsin, where local cheesemakers have produced traditional Wisconsin cheeses on the same site for over 125 years. Today we buy milk from 180 farm families and convert that into more than 100,000 pounds of exceptional cheese each day. We are committed to support local dairy farmers and use fresh milk from our neighbors' farms to make Nasonville's award-winning cheeses.
