What is psychology? Psychology is the science that studies the human mind and people’s behavior. In psychology, the human experience is one of the facts that are most study. Psychology study behavior by using systematic and objective procedures. Reflection: Psychology is useful to us as a teachers because is really important to know what is happening in children mind, we need to have like a base to know how to help them and what is the procedure to take in some cases.


Childhood Childhood is the period of time between infancy and adolescence. Childhood is the time for children to be in school and at play, to grow strong and confident with the love and encouragement of their family and an extended community of caring adults. It is a precious time in which children should live free from fear, safe from violence and protected from abuse and exploitation. As such, childhood means much more than just the space between birth and the attainment of adulthood. It refers to the state and condition of a child’s life, to the quality of those years. Reflection: we as a preschool teacher are going to treat kids during their childhood, we need to know some facts about it to know what are the things that happen during this process and to know what to expect from this ages.

Child

development refers to how a child becomes able to do more complex things as they get older. Development is different than growth. When we talk about normal development, we are talking about developing skills like: •

Gross motor: using large groups of muscles to sit, stand, walk, run, etc., keeping balance, and changing positions.

Fine motor: using hands to be able to eat, draw, dress, play, write, and do many other things.

Language: speaking, using body language and gestures, communicating, and understanding what others say.

Cognitive: Thinking skills: including learning, understanding, problem-solving, reasoning, and remembering.

Social: Interacting with others, having relationships with family, friends, and teachers, cooperating, and responding to the feelings of others.

Reflection: we will be in the child´s development when we become teachers, for us is important to know about this topic because in that way we will be able to detect if something is wrong in our children.
