Finalists

Donreece Brown | LopezESE Center,ExceptionalStudent EducationParaprofessional

Pamela May | KingHigh, Secretary

Winner

Chinovia Shedrick | MemorialMiddleESEParaprofessional

Chinovia Shedrick has worked for Hillsborough County for sixteen years. She believes her niche is in the ESE field—first, working as an Individualized Education Plan assistant and now as an ESE paraprofessional. Chinovia enjoys working at Memorial Middle because it truly demonstrates a “family culture,” where the staff cares about students, embraces the school’s vision and works together to ensure students reach their highest potential. Her lifelong love for education will continue to flourish as she finishes her bachelor’s degree to become a teacher.

Chinovia has three children, Antonio, Chimare and Nateavia, whom she loves dearly. Outside of school, she leads a women’s Bible study group and volunteers with Metropolitan Ministries. Seeing students succeed is what motivates her to excel, and she strives to serve as an example of what a commitment to something you love looks like.

Winner

Nicolette Barone | OakParkElementaryFifthGradeTeacher

Nicolette Barone has worked for HCPS for seven years. She is the daughter of Brenda and Carmen Barone and the oldest sibling to Danielle and Vincent. She attended The University of Tampa for both her undergraduate and graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She is also an adjunct professor for the university in their education department.

When she is not working, Nicolette enjoys going to the beach, whether in Tampa Bay or Brigantine, New Jersey. She enjoys collecting seashells and mini golfing with her family. She loves to work out and cook in case she is ever asked to be on Guy’s Grocery Games. She has presented at educational conferences and is working on opening her first business. Nicolette is motivated by seeing her students do the unthinkable and growing in math and science, seeing them defy the odds, and knowing they can do anything they dream of.
