MASTERPIECE FOR BLASTED ROCK

Kiruna Wagon’s heavy-duty Rock Dumper represents more than 30 years of optimisation for narrow spaces and large fractions in the modern underground mines of northern Sweden. The wagon is designed for rolling bottom discharge and has an unloading capacity of up to 17,000 tonnes per hour.

The Rock Dumper is capable of handling drop-loaded boulders in sizes up to 1500 mm. To fit your needs, the wagon comes in four standard sizes: from 10 to 25 m³ loading volume.

SYSTEM PHILOSOPHY

When designing for underground ore transport, we aim to limit the expensive rockwork by minimising the required cross-section area of the drift and maximising the loading volume of the wagon.

Our proven Rock Dumper has a low bottom and carries its load from deep down between the axles to the highest point of the body.

To lower the tare weight of the wagon, we have used ultra-high-strength steels and a highperformance wear plate system developed by LKAB. WRC System® is designed for easy plate change-outs and allows us to use wear plates as thin as 10 mm, instead of the usual 25 to 30 mm. The flexibility of the system helps us evaluate and identify precisely the right wear plate for your fraction and mineral.

A PROVEN TECHNOLOGY

Already in the 1950s, Kiruna Wagon’s part owner, Nybergs Mekaniska Verkstad, built underground wagons of this type for the LKAB Kiruna Mine, which presently is the largest and most modern underground iron ore mine in the world.

MINIMAL MAINTENANCE – LOWEST OPEX

Below are some examples of our design solutions. Low complexity together with robust design generates easy maintenance. For a guaranteed low OPEX, consider Rock Dumper your solution.

The wheel of the bottom door is a unique solution designed for easy change-outs and service.

The hinge of the bottom door is almost maintenance free, thanks to the use of composite bushings.

The hinge technology includes a refined sealing to prevent spillage and excessive wear.

The support wheels of the unloader are designed for easy individual change-outs.

The rims and tires in the propulsion unit are standard truck components.

The wagon itself is carried on the support wheels while the bottom door follows the discharge curve to open to an angle of 60° before gently closing in a smooth movement.
