Life Choices We Will All Regret in 10 Years

This Magic Eight Ball of Online Marketing

Marc and Angel Chernoff are the authors of ‘The Good Morning Journal,’ ‘1000+ Little Things Happy Successful People Do Differently’ and ‘Getting Back to Happy.’

When I ran across their list of 10 things you and I may regret in 10 years if we don’t do something about them right now, I just had to share it with you.

"If only..." might be the saddest two words in the English language.

People often regret the opportunities they didn't seize, the precious moments they neglected to nurture, and the good decisions they postponed for too long.

To help you avoid such remorse, here are ten common life choices that frequently lead to the haunting "If only..." regrets:

1. Letting others tell us what we are worth.

2. Being too busy impressing others and forgetting about our priorities.

3. Letting uncertainty stop us.

4. Focusing on failures instead of present opportunities.

5. Holding on too tight to how things were “supposed” to be.

6. Playing the victim for too long.

7. Waiting, overanalyzing, and never taking action.

8. Being too busy to appreciate your life.

9. Not spending enough quality time with the right people.

10. Not expressing your love openly and fully.

Do you need to work on any of these?

To read what Marc and Angel have to say about each one, you can check out their blog here:

Hidden Broken Links Are Annoying Your Visitors

A broken link occurs when users click on it, but it fails to lead them to their desired webpage. That’s no big deal, right?

Wrong.

When Google's web crawlers or bots index a webpage, they follow these links to gather data. Encountering broken links during this process can cause your site to rank lower on search engines until the issue is resolved.

And website visitors can become frustrated and annoyed when they encounter broken links on a website.

Broken links can be a major turn-off for users because of:

Negative User Experience: Visitors click on a link expecting to find relevant content and instead encounter a broken link, leading to disappointment and a negative perception of your website.

Wasted Time and Effort: You’re wasting your users valuable time trying to access information that is no longer available.

Loss of Trust: Users may question the website's credibility and reliability and even question if you’re still in business.

Reduced Engagement: Broken links can deter users from further exploring the website and they may leave, leading to a higher bounce rate and potentially lost sales.

To avoid these negative consequences, you can regularly check for broken links and implement proper link management strategies to ensure a smooth user experience and maintain the credibility of your website.

First, check for broken links using a tool like Google Analytics or SEO platforms such as Ahrefs or Semrush.

Next, replace broken links with live ones. If you only have a few broken links on your website, the best approach is to replace them with working links.

For considerably outdated links (4-5 years old) that are no longer relevant, it's best to remove them entirely.

If you encounter a broken backlink (a link from another website to yours), contact the site owner and ask them to fix the link.

And in the case of a broken internal link within your website, implement a 301 redirect, which sends users to the live and functioning page.

Bard: Google's ChatGPT Rival Launches in Europe and Brazil

Google's parent company Alphabet is rolling out its artificial intelligence chatbot Bard in Europe and Brazil.

It is the product's biggest expansion since its March launch in the US and the UK and heats up the rivalry with Microsoft's ChatGPT.

Both are examples of generative AI that can respond to questions in a human-like way.

Pearpop Goes ‘Boost Mode’ To Turn Creator Content Into Ads

Pearpop introduces an innovative approach to connecting creators and brands through their latest service called Boost Mode. This social media marketing feature allows brands to transform authentic, creator-made content into paid advertisements.

By utilizing Boost Mode, brands can identify top-performing creator content and incorporate it into their paid campaigns. As a result, the creators whose videos are selected for ad placement receive bonuses as an acknowledgment of their contribution.

Boost Mode is closely integrated with Pearpop Challenge, a popular service offered by the Los Angeles-based company. In the Pearpop Challenge, participants are encouraged to produce videos following specific guidelines, such as incorporating a particular song, and are rewarded based on the viewership their content garners.

This service was among the products Pearpop highlighted when it secured an additional $18 million in funding for its Series A round in November of the previous year.

Threads: Twitter Killer or Fleeting Success?

Threads, the latest sensation from Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, is making waves in the social media world. With a staggering 100 million sign-ups within a week of its launch, Threads has become a major contender for Twitter's throne.

This new platform offers real-time text-based conversations, complete with photos and videos, all within a character limit of 500. It combines elements from Twitter and Instagram, providing a visually appealing interface and seamless sharing to Instagram Stories.

Users have the option to choose between public and private accounts, with automatic verification for existing Instagram users.

Threads has a vast global reach, available in over 100 countries and supporting over 30 languages on iOS and Android platforms. The ease of onboarding, using existing Instagram credentials, makes it an attractive option for users looking to switch.

Despite its potential, Threads faces some challenges. Concerns about data collection have been raised, as the app may gather personal information like location and contacts.

Maintaining a healthy environment on the platform is another hurdle, as Meta must address issues like spam, harassment, conspiracy theories, and false claims.

As of this writing, Threads currently lacks several features, including emoji usage, hashtags in posts, a Trending page, a chronological feed, the ability to see who you're following, account deletion without affecting Instagram, DMs, the Fediverse feature, a desktop website, and text/phrase search.

As the platform evolves, it's likely these missing features will be implemented to improve user experience.

However, Meta's advantage lies in its massive user base of over 2 billion active Instagram users. With an existing pool to tap into, Threads has a head start over Twitter's relatively smaller user base of around 250 million.

Looking ahead, Threads plans to introduce features like hashtags, improved search functionality, personalized feeds, and the possibility of direct messaging.

Meta aims to transform Threads into a comprehensive social app that caters to its growing user base while exploring advertising opportunities to supplement their core revenue.

Threads is currently a serious competitor to Twitter, leveraging Meta's resources and infrastructure. Its smooth onboarding experience and existing user base make it a strong alternative.

As Meta continues to enhance the platform and address user concerns, Threads could become the game-changer many have been waiting for in the social media landscape.

Some of the More Interesting Threads’ Features:

• Auto-status and location sharing based on activity.

• Available for iOS and Android users.

• Camera-centric design for quick sharing.

• Customizable notifications for a better user experience.

• Disappearing ink for texts and photos.

• Encourages deeper connections with close friends.

• Facilitates automatic message deletion for ephemeral conversations.

• For ages 12 and above, NSFW content prohibited.

• Instant photo and video sharing with creative tools.

• Multiple Threads accounts can be used with Instagram login.

• Private, seamless communication with close friends.

• Promotes privacy, simplicity, and meaningful interactions.

• Robust privacy and security measures.

• Share status updates with inner circle only.

• Verification process for multiple accounts.

Threads is characterized by Meta as a fresh and distinct arena designed for instant updates and public discussions.

The goal is to incorporate the finest elements of Instagram while extending its scope to encompass textbased content, thereby cultivating a constructive and imaginative atmosphere for expressing ideas.

Furthermore, Threads is said to draw inspiration from Twitter's competitors like Mastodon, a decentralized platform that empowers users to seamlessly transfer their accounts to alternative services.

Sign up is easy and I encourage you to try Threads for yourself and see what you think.

Takeaways from the $1790 Trash Bag

Balenciaga sells a drawstring calfskin bag that looks very much like a 20-cent trash bag.

As one person on social media said, “I have 40 of these under my kitchen sink.”

From a marketing standpoint, here’s a few things to consider…

#1: When you’ve built a brand with name recognition, you can charge more for just about anything. A lot more.

#2: Do something strange and social media will light up. This trash bag has gone viral specifically because it looks like a TRASH BAG but it costs 4 - 5 car payments.

#3: As they used to say, there’s no such thing as bad publicity. If you search for, ‘Balenciaga trash pouch,’ you’ll find pages of news stories on the expensive bag from major news outlets.

You simply cannot buy that kind of publicity. https://nypost.com/2022/08/04/balenciagasmost-expensive-trash-bag-in-the-world-is-1790/

Lost 1948 Propaganda Primer Reveals Dangerously Simple Influence Techniques

I can’t figure out if I want to present these techniques to you in a cautionary manner or as a teaching tool, so I’ll let you decide how to use this information yourself.

Back in 1948 a simple 7-minute film was shown to high school students to teach them how to tell propaganda apart from fact. As you know, the purpose of most propaganda is to persuade people to believe something, to do something, or to <cough cough> buy something.

Seven techniques are mentioned in the film:

• Glittering Generalities

• Transfer

• Name-Calling

• Card-Stacking

• Testimonial

• Plain Folks (One of Us)

• Band Wagon

First, I’ll give you the examples of each in the film, and then we’ll see if we can translate those into how we might market a product ethically using propaganda. I know that ‘ethically’ and ‘propaganda’ sound mutually exclusive, and they certainly can be. However, if you are selling a good product at a good price, then there’s no need to fear using some propaganda of your own to encourage prospects to try your product.

Glittering Generalities – “The mayor stands for good government and promises good government.”

The problem with this is everyone had a different idea of what good government means. And yet it works because people will assume the speaker is talking about the same type of ‘good government’ they are thinking of.

How can you use this to market a product on how to build an online business? “You’ll have the perfect business that is enjoyable, rewarding and pays you the income you deserve.” Notice I didn’t really say anything in that last line, but it does sound good and the reader can fill in the blanks with their own desires.

Transfer – “Joe Candidate is a real American.” Keep in mind this film is 75 years old, but even today you will occasionally hear someone claim to be a ‘real American.’ Now we realize that any citizen of North or South America is a ‘real American,’ but back then in the U.S. being a real American made the candidate sound good while subtly implying their opponent was not a real American.

In your own marketing you might say that your product is the real deal, the authentic original on whatever it is that you teach or sell and not a copy. This works especially well if you’ve coined your own terms and phrases in your business, essentially placing it in a category of its own.

Name-Calling - "Our opponent is unreal, unrealistic. He is a visionary, a theorist, a dreamer. He is so thirsty for public office that like a weary traveler in the desert, he sees a mirage, and he is trying to sell it to you as real."

In today’s world those names sound pretty good, but evidently in 1948 being a visionary was a bad thing. I would NOT recommend you start calling your competition names, but what you can do is frame their product as not being right for your customers. “While there are numerous courses on traffic generation that rehash the same worn-out techniques that stopped working 5 years ago, our course teaches you what is working right now, today, to drive unlimited targeted traffic to your offers.”

You’re implying that competing products are out of date and out of touch while yours provides techniques that are working now. Essentially, you’re name calling without sounding like you’re name calling.

Card-Stacking - "Mayor Cooper asks that he be judged by his performance in office. Very well, let's ask him. Who was mayor when the Municipal Water Works fell into such a state of disrepair that the whole town was without water for two days? Let's ask him. But no, let's not. It might embarrass him."

Card stacking is choosing some facts and leaving out others and arranging them to suit your purpose. Cooper was mayor when the pumping station broke down, but it was the men in office before him who allowed it to get into such a rundown condition. And it finally gave way before he could get anything done.

Most of us already use this in our marketing. We talk about the fact that our product teaches how to make a lot of money, but we don’t go into detail about the fact that it takes a ton of work to make it happen. Frankly, I prefer to let people know that work is involved. I prefer to give the details up front, while also letting them know there are shortcuts - such as outsourcing – they can use to get the results they seek faster and with less personal effort.

Just be sure to leave out nothing that will get you in trouble later. For example, don’t say that a year after Billy started his business he had $100,000 in the bank while neglecting to say that Billy originally had $300,000 but lost $200,000 trying to implement your business plan.

Testimonial – “I want to take time to tell you that I've known Dick Cooper ever since he was knee-high to a grasshopper. He comes of a good, respectable family, too. Just as honest as the day is long. He knows our town. He's one of us. That's why I'm going to vote for Mayor Cooper, and all my friends are going to vote for him too."

We already know how to use testimonials in our marketing. Generally, the more you have, the better. Also, the more specific they are, the more they can potentially influence your prospect. “I love this course” isn’t going to be nearly as influential as, “By implementing what I learned in Module 4 of this course, I was able to lose 20 pounds of fat and gain 7 pounds of muscle in 6 weeks, as measured by my doctor.”

Plain Folks (One of Us) - Notice in the example above that the testimonial talks about how the candidate is “one of us.”

Anytime you can make yourself appear to be like your customers, do it. When you can show that your business caters to people just like your prospects, do it. Build a tribe of like-minded people, make them feel that they belong to the tribe, and they will follow you anywhere and buy your products, too.

Band Wagon - "Yes, Mrs. Hamline is voting for Mayor Cooper. Her friends are voting for Mayor Cooper. Your friends are voting for Mayor Cooper. The people know what they want, and what they want is Mayor Cooper. Don't you be left behind. Get on board the victory special. Vote for Mayor Cooper and ride with him to victory."

Whenever possible, show that plenty of people have already jumped on your bandwagon, whether that’s joining you on social media, visiting your site, buying your products and so forth. Few people are comfortable being the first and most people love following the herd, regardless of what they might claim to their friends. Make them feel like they are joining a movement rather than being a pioneer and you’ll get the sale.

Flipping the coin, how do YOU detect propaganda yourself so that you can make informed choices based on fact?

According to the movie, the steps are:

1: Recognize the technique

2: Know the purpose

3: Get the facts

4: Weigh the facts against the purpose and technique

I’ll let you get the details on these steps from the video, which I highly encourage you to watch. It’s only 7 minutes in length and chock full of lessons on using, recognizing and studying propaganda. And it’s as relevant today as it was in 1948.

Are You Losing Traffic To TLS Certificate Errors?

Several times a month I’ll click a link that leads to a page telling me I’m not safe. I could either proceed on or go back, or in some cases the only option is to abort. Because of message I never land on the page, and that website owner just lost traffic and maybe even a potential sale.

I doubt very much those site owners know they’re losing traffic this way.

A TLS certificate is an essential component issued by a Certificate Authority (CA) to verify the ownership of a domain and ensure a secure connection.

Put simply, if your website lacks a TLS certificate, its URL will begin with HTTP instead of HTTPS.

To have a TLS certificate for your website is crucial because HTTP (hypertext transfer protocol) is outdated and doesn't provide encryption for data transmitted online between devices.

On the other hand, HTTPS (hypertext transfer protocol secure) encrypts the data and safeguards it from potential hacking attempts.

In 2014, Google made a significant announcement stating that websites with HTTPS URLs would receive higher ranking priority compared to those using HTTP.

If your website encounters an invalid TLS certificate error, it could stem from various reasons, including:

• Misconfiguration of Certificate: Incorrectly following the steps during manual installation can lead to this error.

• Domain Mismatch: If there is a disparity between the domain name you purchased and the one you issued the TLS certificate for, an error will occur.

• Identity Verification Issues: If the certificate authority is unable to verify your identity, you won't be able to install the certificate.

• Incorrect Date or Time On Your Desktop: Since TLS certificates are issued based on time, an incorrect date or time on your desktop can prevent issuance.

• Old Version Certificate: Certificates using the outdated Secure Hash Algorithm 1 (SHA-1) might be flagged as invalid.

To resolve TLS certificate issues, follow these steps:

MWM Interview A Steve Dougherty Interview

This time we're chatting with someone who's been working in the online space since 2007. Steve Dougherty has been creating white label or rebrand how-to videos for internet marketers and others who wish to learn how to make money online through his company, PLR Video Direct. With over 16 years experience, I think we're in for a fascinating conversation. It's my pleasure to say welcome, Steve Dougherty.

Steve Dougherty:

Thank you. Glad to be here.

Editor:

Well, it's great to have you here. Now, is it true, Steve, that you come from a military background?

Steve Dougherty:

Yes, yes. My father was in the Air Force. Retired about, I guess, 20 years ago. The Air Force Brat label is attached to my name.

Editor:

I was going to say, because that seems like a million miles away from the industry that you now almost dominate in many ways, how did that come about? Was your father supportive of you doing something so radically different?

Steve Dougherty:

Well, actually he didn't have a whole lot of say in the matter, but it's weird that you brought up that because what got me into the PLR business to begin with was the information part. I've always been an information junkie. Without going too deep into the weeds there, what got me to be an information junkie was as a child, I always looked up to my father because he was full of information. I was full of questions, as most young kids are. I recall, not specifically, but I remember the moment whenever I asked a question and his reply was, "I don't know." I'm sure that it was out of frustration.

He had a long day, whatever it was, but it was the first time that this God-like figure to me, this wealth of information that always had an answer for my annoying questions didn't have one. And that set me back, wait a minute. I think that sparked my curiosity to get more information, regardless of the answers that I got when I asked the question.

If it wasn't enough, I kept asking it differently and to different people. That just grew into this information junkie mindset that I have.

That I think is what helped me become better at the videos that I was creating, because it wasn't just a matter of getting information, regurgitating it in a video format, it was getting information. Was that enough for me to understand it?

If not, then I would get information elsewhere until I was able to understand it, and then I would take that understanding, putting it into training.

Editor:

Well, I guess as well, the military is all about discipline, isn't it? You need to be disciplined to run a business like this where you are creating videos on an ongoing basis. I mean, 16 years is a long time in this space. What first inspired you? What was your first video?

Steve Dougherty:

Well, I can't think of the gentleman's name, but it was Louie something. He was one of the first introductions that I had to private label rights videos. I want to say it has something to do with RSS. For the life of me, I don't even know how to do RSS now, but it was a video that I'd seen of his that I purchased for 99 cents I think off of eBay. This is 2005, 2006. I mean, I purchased rights, didn't know what that was. But through watching his video, knowing that I could turn around and sell his video, let alone my own, I just couldn't believe it.

This whole internet marketing thing was about to blow up for me because that first video that I made from having watched him do it and he wasn't that great, I figured I could at least do that good. I turned around and sold my video, which again, I think it was on RSS feeds, which was pretty much a copy of his, only in my words, I made 99 cents also. And that proved to me that I can make money online doing this, and that was what blew things up from there.

Editor:

For anybody who's not heard of PLR Video Direct, maybe you could just give us a quick overview of the company and the service that you provide.

Steve Dougherty:

A lot of times they'll ask me questions about, "Do you do this? Do you make videos about this? I saw this, but I actually wanted this." If it's something that I can tackle fairly quickly, then I'll go ahead and do that as well. That's basically the services that I provide.

Well, the company's been around, like you said, for a long time. Basically, I just create training videos mostly in the internet marketing niche and provide them for sale. Folks can come to my site, purchase the videos that are available.

70% of the time I'll do custom white label training for private individuals, and I'll do that with the knowledge and with the

A lot of times they'll ask me questions about, "Do you do this? Do you make videos about this? I saw this, but I actually wanted this." If it's something that I can tackle fairly quickly, then I'll go ahead and do that as well. That's basically the services that I provide.

70% of the time I'll do custom white label training for private individuals, and I'll do that with the knowledge and with the acknowledgement that after six months, I'll be able to sell that to my customers. They've got full access. They've got the full-blown thing for six months, do with it as they wish, and then after that I'll be able to sell it to my customers as well, along with my just general training that I create.

Editor:

I think the interesting thing here is that you have the multiple revenue streams. You will take a commission from a client as such, but then later down the line you can still monetize it yourself to your own list. When you say rebrandable and white label, I guess those terms are interchangeable with PLR anyway?

Steve Dougherty:

Yes, for the most part. Actually, I want to say that I had not heard the term white label until I started using it probably 2012, 2013. I'm sure it was around. I'm not taking credit for having brought that up.

Editor:

No, take credit. Take credit.

Steve Dougherty:

I haven't heard it until then, and since then I have. Maybe it's just me. But for me, rebrandable is something that is not necessarily private label, but you have the ability, you have the right to rebrand it. The items that you have to rebrand might be different. In other words, I've seen folks that have rebrandable. And then in the list of what you can and cannot do, it might say something, you do not have copyrights, or you do not have these what I would normally consider to be private label rights. You can rebrand it, but that's it. You can't change anything. You can't change any of the content.

You can slap your name on it. That's it. That would be the white label part or rebrandable part, not necessarily private label. For me, private label is you can do whatever you want with it unless there's that little asterisk in those licencing terms that say you can't do this.

But if it's not there, then you can do it. But as far as the rights, that would be a whole topic I'd want to spend more time on than probably what we have available.

Editor:

Is Imposter Syndrome Keeping You From Online Success?

Imposter syndrome is when you feel like a fake or a fraud in a certain part of your life, even if you've actually done well in that area. If you often doubt yourself, even in things you're usually good at, you might have imposter syndrome.

It can make you feel restless and worried, and you might start thinking negative things about yourself. Imposter syndrome often comes with feelings of anxiety and sadness.

If you’ve been putting off building your online business, it might be because you feel like an imposter. You might think you don’t know nearly enough about online marketing to get started, or that you lack what it takes to succeed online.

And if you are having success online, you might think you’re just lucky and at any minute everyone is going to realize you’re a fraud and your house of cards will come tumbling down.

Do you know who has imposter syndrome?

• 41% of people report having imposter syndrome.

• 27% of other people also report having imposter syndrome.

• And the rest of the people have imposter syndrome, too.

That’s right – sooner or later, everyone has it.

The question is, what are you going to do about it?

Imposter syndrome can be a challenging experience, but it's important to remember that you are not alone in feeling this way. Making friends with your imposter involves cultivating self-compassion and adopting a supportive mindset towards yourself.

When you have imposter syndrome, you doubt your own accomplishments and worry that others will discover you're faking it. Even though you have proof that you're good at something, you feel like you're not good enough and that luck or other outside factors are responsible for your success.

You might downplay your achievements, ignore compliments and compare yourself to others, feeling like you're not as good. You're scared of failing and set really high standards for yourself, which makes you anxious, stressed, and in need of reassurance.

MWM
Q & A

Imposter syndrome is often seen in high-achieving people like students, professionals, artists, and entrepreneurs. Things like wanting everything to be perfect, having a stressful job, society's expectations, and not feeling confident can all contribute to imposter syndrome.

Here’s just a few of the many famous people who have publicly spoken about experiencing imposter syndrome:

David Bowie – Entertainer - “I had enormous self-image problems and very low self-esteem, which I hid behind obsessive writing and performing. … I was driven to get through life very quickly. I really felt so utterly inadequate. I thought the work was the only thing of value.”

Howard Schultz - Starbucks CEO - “Very few people, whether you’ve been in that job before or not, get into the seat and believe today that they are now qualified to be the CEO. They’re not going to tell you that, but it’s true.”

Sheryl Sandberg - Facebook COO - “There are still days when I wake up feeling like a fraud, not sure I should be where I am.”

Tina Fey - Entertainer, Author - “The beauty of the impostor syndrome is you vacillate between extreme egomania, and a complete feeling of: 'I'm a fraud! Oh god, they're on to me! I'm a fraud!' So you just try to ride the egomania when it comes and enjoy it, and then slide through the idea of fraud.”

Maya Angelou - Activist, author, poet, Nobel Laureate - "I have written 11 books, but each time I think, 'uh oh, they’re going to find out now. I’ve run a game on everybody, and they’re going to find me out.'"

Lady Gaga - Singer - “I still sometimes feel like a loser kid in high school and I just have to pick myself up and tell myself that I’m a superstar every morning so that I can get through this day and be for my fans what they need for me to be."

Arianna Huffington - Entrepreneur, CEO, author - “The greatest obstacle for me has been the voice in my head that I call my obnoxious roommate. I wish someone would invent a tape recorder that we could attach to our brains to record everything we tell ourselves. We would realize how important it is to stop this negative self-talk. It means pushing back against our obnoxious roommate with a dose of wisdom.”

Natalie Portman - Academy Award winning actress, Harvard graduate - “Today, I feel much like I did when I came to Harvard Yard as a freshman in 1999. I felt like there had been some mistake, that I wasn’t smart enough to be in this company, and that every time I opened my mouth I would have to prove that I wasn’t just a dumb actress.”

Sonia Sotomayor - The first Hispanic Supreme Court justice - “I have spent my years since Princeton, while at law school and in my various professional jobs, not feeling completely a part of the worlds I inhabit. I am always looking over my shoulder wondering if I measure up.”

Tom Hanks - beloved actor whose films grossed nearly $5 Billion"No matter what we've done, there comes a point where you think, 'How did I get here? When are they going to discover that I am, in fact, a fraud and take everything away from me?'”

Emma Watson - actress and activist - “Now when I receive recognition for my acting, I feel incredibly uncomfortable. I tend to turn in on myself. I feel like an imposter.”

What Can You Do if You Feel Like an Imposter?

I want you to know that it's totally normal to experience imposter syndrome, and you're not alone in feeling this way. As you can see, many successful people have gone through it, too. The first step in overcoming it is to recognize and accept your feelings of self-doubt.

When those negative thoughts start creeping in, try to challenge them with positive and realistic ones. You've accomplished so much, and you have unique skills and qualities that make you special. Embrace a growth mindset and see challenges as chances to learn and grow.

Remember, you don't have to go through this alone. Talk to your trusted friends, family, or mentors about your feelings. Sharing your experiences with others who understand can offer you a fresh perspective and some reassurance.

Don't forget to celebrate your achievements, big or small. Keep a record of them, and when self-doubt hits, revisit those successes to boost your confidence.

It's okay to be vulnerable and ask for help or admit when you're unsure about something. Opening up to others can lead to deeper connections and supportive relationships. We all have our strengths and limitations, and that's okay.

Make sure you take time for self-care, too. Engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation, like hobbies, exercise, meditation, or spending time with loved ones. Taking care of yourself is crucial for building resilience.

Instead of striving for perfection, focus on learning and personal growth. Embrace challenges as opportunities to acquire new skills and knowledge. Remember, making mistakes is a natural part of learning.

And try to always remember that you've got this. Be kind to yourself and know that you have the strength to overcome imposter feelings any time you choose.

Elevating Your Online Presence: 1 Becoming an Influencer

Have you ever wondered if you could be an influencer on social media?

To lead a fulfilling and successful life, it's crucial to cultivate certain habits that shape our mindset, actions, and relationships. Here are 11 habits that can transform your life:

Imagine having a large audience following you with sponsors begging you to take their money for your endorsement. And money isn’t the only reason to become an influencer.

Cultivate a positive mindset - Understand that your thoughts shape your reality. Work on developing a positive and growth-oriented mindset that empowers you to overcome challenges and seize opportunities both online and offline.

For example, influencers enjoy…

Embrace humility - Let go of ego and pride and be open to new ideas and feedback. Embracing humility allows for continuous growth and deeper connections with others.

Creativity and Expression: You can showcase your creativity and connect with an audience who appreciates your unique style.

Influence and Impact: You can have the power to influence your followers' opinions, behaviors, and decisions to spread positive messages, promote important causes, and create awareness about issues that matter to you.

Give and serve others - Generosity and service bring immense fulfillment and happiness. Find ways to contribute to the well-being of others, no matter how small the act. Sharing your time, resources, and skills creates a positive impact on the world.

Keep your goals in focus - Set clear, specific goals for your business and remind yourself of them daily. Write them down, create a vision board, or visualize your success. Align your actions with your aspirations and watch your dreams manifest.

Learn from mentors - Seek out individuals who exemplify excellence in areas you admire. Study not just what they say but also what they do. Surround yourself with successful people, and their positive influence will propel you toward your own achievements.

Building a Personal Brand: You can cultivate your distinct identity and personality, leading to various opportunities such as collaborations with companies, sponsorships, and partnerships.

Community and Connection: You can build a connection with your followers that can be personally fulfilling and provide a platform to share experiences and learn from others.

Overcome rejection - Understand that rejection is a natural part of life. Customers will say no. Affiliates and potential partners will say no. When faced with rejection, view it as an opportunity for growth rather than a personal failure. Learn f setbacks, persevere, and keep moving forward.

Practice gratitude - Appreciate the blessings in your life, big and small. Express gratitude for the support you receive, the basic necessities you have, and the gift of life itself. Thank your followers, affiliates, partners, readers and especially y customers. Gratitude cultivates contentment and opens doors to more abundance.

Flexibility and Independence: You can have the freedom to work on your terms, deciding when and where you create content.

Opportunities and Networking: You can open doors to various opportunities, such as attending industry events, collaborating with other influencers, meeting influential people, and expanding your network.

Monetization and Income Potential: And as a successful influencer you can earn money through various channels, such as brand deals, sponsored content, affiliate marketing, merchandise sales, and ad revenue from platforms like YouTube. While it may take time and effort to reach this level, it can be a lucrative career for some. However, it's essential to note that becoming an influencer requires dedication, consistency, resilience, and an understanding that success may not come overnight.

Additionally, dealing with public scrutiny and managing the balance between authenticity and brand collaborations can also be demanding. Influencers must also consider the ethical responsibilities that come with their influence and be mindful of the content they create and endorse. That said, it’s not as difficult to become an influencer as you may think. Here I break it down into easy, manageable steps to jumpstart your journey into the realm of influencer.

1: Begin as a Micro influencer

Start small to grow big by focusing on a niche field. Many successful influencers started as micro influencers with around 10,000 to 50,000 followers. Think of them as having a larger following than the average person but not as massive as celebrities. This allows you to build a dedicated audience and experiment with content on a smaller scale. Remember, credibility is crucial, even if you have a decent-sized following. Micro influencers can wield powerful word-of-mouth influence, generating double the sales of paid ads and achieving a 37% higher customer retention rate.

2: Develop Your Content Strategy

Once you've chosen your niche, it's time to create a content strategy. This involves deciding on your publishing cadence, tone, voice, and content elements. While there's no one-size-fits-all template, you should set clear goals for yourself, such as creating a specific number of social posts and maintaining blog quality.

3: Select Your Social Channels

As an influencer, you'll need to be present on social media platforms. Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube are just a few examples of popular channels. Each platform caters to a different audience, so it's essential to consider where your target audience spends their time.

It’s better to be a larger influencer on ONE channel than a tiny influencer of many channels. Choose just one or two channels and focus all of your efforts on those in the beginning, adding more later if you choose.

Become an expert at how your channel works. Different channels require different strategies, and knowing this will give you a competitive edge.

4: Network Within the Industry

Building real connections is a key step in becoming an influencer. Engaging with your audience on social media is essential, but don't overlook the power of in-person or online events related to your niche. Networking at trade shows, conferences, and industry events can help you gain exposure and establish yourself as an influencer.

5: Engage in Off-site Forums

Beyond social media, participating in forums and online discussions related to your field will enhance your reputation, influence, and connections. This engagement allows you to reach a broader audience and showcase your expertise.

6: Create a Website or Blog

While social media is valuable, it's essential to have a website or blog as your home base. These platforms provide space for more in-depth content and allow you to lead your followers into your conversion funnel. Make sure your blog offers value and complements your social media content.

Aspiring influencers must focus on providing value to their audience. Be the person people talk about and share their experiences with. Positive word-of-mouth is a powerful driver of purchase decisions.

8: Stay Ahead of Current Events

Balance evergreen content that remains relevant over time with topical content that's relevant to current trends. Staying informed about the latest happenings and using tools to monitor social media trends will help you stay relevant and potentially go viral.

9: Stay Authentic and On-Brand

Just like brands during the Super Bowl, you need to be authentic and stick to your brand voice. This is crucial to becoming an influencer on social media. People want to connect with real individuals, not just polished advertisements.

10: Respond to Comments and Start Conversations

Engage with your audience by actively responding to comments and questions. This builds a social community that participates and engages with your content. Be friendly and consistent, and don't worry about trolls and haters. Focus on building a positive image.

It's not enough to respond; you’ve got to start conversations with your followers. Create content that helps people in your online community and engage with others outside of your feed. Ask questions, participate in groups, tag other influencers, and even consider starting your own Facebook group to draw in more followers.

11: Consistently Publish Fresh Content

Regularly publish fresh content to keep your audience engaged and interested. A blog or content-driven strategy can serve as the foundation of your social media presence, providing you with plenty of material to share across different channels.

Continuously generate fresh topic ideas to keep your content engaging and relevant. Use tools like Google Alerts and follow industry blogs to stay informed.

12: Listen to Feedback and Remain Approachable

Embrace constructive criticism. It helps you grow as an influencer and shapes your brand positively. Influencers are not about dictating but about creating a movement, and feedback is essential for that.

No matter how successful you become, always stay approachable and down-to-earth. Approachability is a key factor in building influence and maintaining a loyal following.

7: Provide Value to the Conversation

Opinion: AI’s legal risks challenging marketers

The concerns surrounding consumer protection, privacy, and ethics have become significant enough to give advertisers reason to reconsider their approach.

Test Your New Product Idea With These 4 Questions

Just because you can do something doesn't mean it's a great idea. Many online marketers, whether they're new or experienced, tend to jump into building their latest product or project without asking themselves a crucial question: "Is my product idea any good?"

I get asked this question all the time, and I never give a yes or no answer. Frankly, what I think really doesn't matter, which is why instead I'll ask them, "What makes you think your idea is good?"

Exciting Ideas vs. Must-Have Products

The graveyard of failed products and businesses is filled with ideas pursued solely because the founders fell in love with the concept.

Now, there's nothing wrong with being excited about a startup idea or falling head over heels for it before you get started. But before you dive too deep into bringing your idea to life, you need to take time to validate it beyond your own feelings.

This presents a tricky situation. You can't just go around asking random people what they think of your idea because opinions don't really matter. When asking the question, you are exposing your unfinished idea to people who might not understand it, offer unhelpful suggestions, or even steal it.

On the other hand, relying solely on your own judgment is a trap. Think of an idea as being like a baby - You might think your own baby is utter perfection while everyone else sees a screaming, sticky, wrinkled, red-faced pooping machine. Same baby but two entirely different perspectives.

That’s why, the next time you come up with what you believe is a brilliant and revolutionary new idea, ask yourself why you think it’s good. If you can't fit the answer into one of the following four categories, then it’s best to let go of the idea.

Are You Creating a New Product Category?

This is one of the most common sources of inspiration for product ideas but be warned: It also contributes to the majority of failed products in the graveyard.

For example, your traffic generation product doesn’t just drive traffic to an offer, it eliminates the need for traffic by doing something totally new and radically different than anything else out there. It’s the ‘antitraffic-generation-product.’

MWM FLASHBACK STORY

Here’s the problem: Marketers think in terms of driving traffic, and like most people, they generally dislike change. “New” isn't always a benefit it can actually work against you.

Instead of, “Here’s a great method to drive traffic,” you’re now having to first educate your prospects that they don’t need traffic as they know it, that there’s a better/different way from anything else they’ve done before, that this method does not cause legal problems or make prospects mad, that it’s something they can do, that it’s something they want to do, and so forth.

It's exhausting. When air cleaners were first introduced, very few people jumped up and said, “I want to buy one!” Instead, the companies that made the new air cleaners spent years and a ton of money educating people that indoor air is bad before their products finally became a somewhat acceptable and common household item.

To start proving the viability of your idea, ask yourself, "Why doesn't it already exist?" If the success of your product seems obvious once it exists, there are likely numerous reasons why no one has attempted to turn it into a business. Or perhaps they did try and failed. Understand the reasons it hasn’t been done before and figure out how to overcome them before moving forward.

Are You Seizing a Massive Market Shift?

Imagine your idea caters to a small market right now, but there's tremendous potential for it to grow rapidly. This is where entrepreneurship comes into play – spotting trends and being the first to offer the perfect solution for those early adopters. By doing so, you position yourself to reap the benefits when the mainstream eventually catches up.

Of course, it involves making educated but daring guesses about market trends related to your product. Remember, it's easy to look back and see how streaming movies became a hit, but there was also a time when everyone believed 3D movies were the future and video rental stores would never go away.

To succeed in this venture, it's essential to have an intimate understanding of the market you're targeting. Whether that comes from personal experience, previous sales in that market, or spending significant time talking to potential customers, this knowledge will prove incredibly helpful in shaping your strategy.

Are You Disrupting an Outdated Industry?

If the industry you're targeting is in desperate need of change and modernization, you might be on to something.

For example, people have never enjoyed shopping for a used car or selling one, either. But today we have virtual services that will show you the cars for sale in your area and have someone deliver one to you, as well as buying your car from you over the internet.

MWM 57

Add in virtual test drives and it’s entirely possible that automobile dealerships as we know them will soon disappear.

Banks used to be something we had to drive to and enter during ‘banking’ hours to cash a check or get our money out. ATMs were a real disrupter in their time because they were accessible 24/7, and now most banking can be done online without going near a bank or an ATM. If you're aiming for, high-growth, then disrupting an outdated industry is the best way to achieve it. Timing is also crucial. If you’re too early or too late, you will fail. Watch for things that annoy people and then see if you can find an industry disrupting solution that is a major leap forward. If so, you might have a million-dollar idea.

Are You Leveraging Talent?

What if we bring smart people together to see what they can create?

This one usually works better for experienced entrepreneurs. While teamwork is never a bad idea, it shouldn't be the sole reason to start a business. But let’s say you encounter someone who has a skill or method of doing something that could be an industry disrupter. You’ve got the marketing skills, they’ve got the product or service skills and together you might be able to create something much greater than the sum of your individual efforts. This happens all the time online when a marketer teams up with an expert and together they create and promote an outstanding information product that sells thousands of copies. Whenever possible, surround yourself with people who are smarter than you and more experienced than you, whether they’re in your mastermind group, your outsourcers or your partners and affiliates. But don’t think that assembling a dream team is enough to create a truly revolutionary new product idea. Sometimes it works and other times you simply have the wrong people or poor timing.

It's Not Just One Idea

You’ve seen the cartoon of the lightbulb going off over someone’s head. They’ve had the brilliant idea and now they go on to make millions with it.

If only real life were a cartoon. Product ideas almost never originate from a single moment of inspiration, despite what many new marketers think. School might teach you that you get an idea, make a plan, hire people and find customers. But in the real world, a good idea is simply the foundation to dozens more additional and even better ideas that expand on the original concept.

Your success will come from continuous innovation and evolution rather than relying solely on your single initial idea.

4 Steps to Building a YouTube Community that Loves Your Business

YouTube is an incredibly powerful platform that has even started to surpass Google as America's preferred search engine. In fact, YouTube's top suggestions are prominently displayed on Google's search results page.

This is precisely why building a strong presence on YouTube is crucial for your business. By establishing a robust channel and engaged community on the platform, you can tap into its immense potential for converting viewers into customers.

YouTube is the go-to destination for experts, educators, and thought leaders to share their knowledge with the world. When individuals are looking to engage in business within your niche, they are likely to seek advice from their favorite YouTube channels, and you can be the one they turn to, rely on and purchase from.

However, the advantages of YouTube for your business extend beyond community engagement. It offers creators unique opportunities for generating income and leads. Unlike other social networks, YouTube videos have long-term visibility and are frequently discovered through search queries. This means that your valuable and relevant content has a lasting impact on viewers.

Once you have compelling content, there are multiple ways to monetize it. YouTube itself provides ad revenue opportunities. Additionally, you can pursue sponsorship deals with brands your audience loves, earn commissions through affiliate links, and even explore monetization options with YouTube Shorts.

To begin leveraging YouTube's potential for your business, community-building is essential if you’re going to cultivate an active and engaged community of subscribers who are eager to learn from you and invest in your offerings.

While subscriber counts, likes, and shares may initially seem important, it's crucial to prioritize subscribers who convert into customers. Focusing on vanity metrics alone can only take you so far.

Instead, strive to become the top authority in your niche by dominating the top search results for your product type or services.

Here’s how you can build a YouTube community that loves your business in 4 steps:

Step 1: Craft a Captivating Story

Your story is the key to standing out in the saturated world of YouTube. It's what sets you apart from your competitors and attracts your unique audience. Embrace your uniqueness and share your story authentically.

Remember, not everyone needs to resonate with your content; your goal is to connect with the right people who align with your brand. Uncover what makes you special by exploring your personality traits, seeking input from friends and colleagues, and reflecting on your expertise.

Once you have your story, infuse it strategically into your content by highlighting relevant aspects throughout your videos.

Step 2: Build Trust through Branding and Expertise

To establish trust with your audience, take charge of your branding and communicate your values clearly. Develop a branding guide that encompasses your color palette, fonts, channel banner, "about" section, and a concise statement highlighting your uniqueness.

Define your content pillars topics that showcase your expertise and provide value to your viewers. Divide them into categories for new viewers and those further along in their customer journey. By consistently presenting your branding and offering structured playlists, you'll cultivate trust and demonstrate your commitment to delivering valuable content.

Step 3: Conduct In-Depth Research

Research is essential for generating video ideas that align with your content pillars. Leverage the search engine capabilities of YouTube by using keyword research tools like TubeBuddy and vidIQ to uncover new keywords and assess your ranking potential. Focus on longtail keywords and tailor your video titles accordingly to ensure visibility.

Additionally, analyze your competitors' channels to gain inspiration, specifically from their most popular videos. Extract keyword ideas from their titles while adding your unique twist to the content.

Observe trends, such as common phrases or eye-catching thumbnail styles, to enhance your video production.

Step 4: Embrace Consistency for Lasting Community Growth

Consistency is the foundation of building an engaged YouTube community. Make content creation an integral part of your routine and prioritize it accordingly.

Plan your videos at least two months ahead, starting with keyword research and title creation. Aim to publish two long-form videos (5-15 minutes) and four shorts per month, minimum. Remember, quality over quantity is key, so prioritize longer videos. Consider batch-recording to save time and, if necessary, outsource video editing.

Stick to a publishing schedule and strive to have edited videos ready at least two weeks in advance. With consistent effort, your audience will grow steadily over time.
