Orchard Cove is a community of Hebrew SeniorLife, a Harvard Medical School affiliate. We are known for our resident-driven culture and the superb quality of life we make possible. We offer 227 independent living apartments in a range of layouts and styles—and an all-inclusive pricing model that allows you to take advantage
of the full breadth of services and amenities we provide without having to worry about additional costs. We support your active lifestyle and desire to continuously learn with engaging programs, community clubs and committees, fitness training and classes, and onsite medical services.
As much as we offer on our campus set on 38 acres of conservation land, our convenient location close to roads leading to Boston, local suburbs, and Cape Cod means you can also take in all the region’s great attractions. And, it is easy to visit local family and friends or host them at Orchard Cove.
The more you learn about Orchard Cove, the more you’ll agree: Here you can focus on what matters most to you, so you can live your best life as you define it.
Orchard Cove features an all-inclusive financial model, which means that you don’t pay extra for our enriching programs; amenities like weekday local transportation, home maintenance, indoor parking, and weekly housekeeping; and other services that make it easier for you to do the things that matter most to you.
How do we know what matters most to you? We ask. We believe that residents are the experts on how to live their best life. Our Vitalize 360 platform, developed by Hebrew SeniorLife and piloted at Orchard Cove, offers one-on-one coaching to help seniors articulate and achieve their goals, whatever they may be. You decide what will make your life more fulfilling—we then act to support you in making it possible.
As a result, our programs and services are constantly evolving based on input from our residents. They tell us what they want, what they need, and what will delight, inspire, and engage them. We provide—not prescribe— the programming and services they desire.
At Orchard Cove you can see live performances of exceptional quality without having to drive anywhere. You can take classes, attend lectures, and participate in group workshops, all steps from your apartment. Our amenities—such as our fitness center, indoor pool and hot tub, game court, and a community garden—are wonderful gathering spots. And, our four restaurants offer fresh, delicious, and nutritious dining options for all tastes.
Our multigenerational programs with students from area schools and universities make life even more fulfilling at Orchard Cove. We have found that everyone gains something from these connections, whether it’s a performance by a college a capella group, or collaborative art projects with students based on the personal histories and traditions of residents with whom they are paired.

What our community offers you and what you bring to our community enriches all of us. From the beginning, Orchard Cove has been known for having a warm, empowering, resident-driven culture. Whatever your talents, whatever your passions—be it discussing current events, writing or painting, tennis or kayaking, cooking or crafting—you will find others here to engage, appreciate, and share in them. In this dynamic and stimulating environment, you can make your imprint on the community while experiencing everything we have to offer.
What do we mean by resident-driven? Our residents have a strong voice in how the community is run. They are encouraged to make use of their leadership experience and passion for civic engagement by participating in various committees as part of the Orchard Cove Residents Association, which helps to shape our community on a daily basis. Many feel a true sense of ownership and stewardship, ensuring that Orchard Cove continues to meet everyone’s needs.
Each day at Orchard Cove, residents and our well-trained staff socialize in an atmosphere of mutual respect, kindness, and vitality. Our welcoming culture embraces all seniors regardless of their religion, ethnic background, sexual orientation, or health status. While a majority of Orchard Cove residents identify as Jewish, Hebrew SeniorLife is nonsectarian and diversity is valued. You will feel comfortable here living the lifestyle that is authentically yours.
Each of Orchard Cove’s four restaurants—The Pavilion, The Garden Room, Pequit, No. 4 on 3, and a private dining room—serve delicious meals that are fresh, authentic, and nutritious. They also are comfortable spaces for residents to meet and socialize. The culinary staff supports the community by cooking local favorites, from Block Island swordfish to produce grown at organic neighborhood farms. And it’s all served by an efficient and attentive staff.

At Orchard Cove you can explore your interests, continue to learn and grow, and have a full and active life, no matter how your health status or need for services may evolve. That’s because we combine exceptional programs, committed staff, and supportive services—as well as personalized coordination and integration of all our offerings to ensure they meet your particular wishes and goals—to deliver an enriching environment where you can flourish across our entire continuum of care.
With independent living and enhanced living apartments, as well as skilled nursing care and an onsite Harvard Medical School-affiliated physician practice, Orchard Cove has everything you need to live the way you want to live. We also welcome couples with differing care needs and provide individualized support that allows relationships to thrive regardless of one partner’s physical or cognitive issues.
Our collaborative care team works to facilitate access toservices, providing seamless coordination along our wide continuum of care and always mindful of your values and preferences. If you require a medical procedure, we’ll help plan for coordinated rehabilitation through Hebrew SeniorLife services. You may not need all of our care services now, but they are here if you need them in the future.
Our onsite Harvard Medical School-affiliated physician practice is open five days a week and includes a geriatrician as well as specialists in podiatry, audiology, and psychiatry. With incredible care coordination and easy access to a range of onsite medical services and resources— including home health, speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, social work, spiritual support, palliative care, and hospice— residents and their families know they will be well-supported.
Orchard Cove’s LifeCare plan is a cost-effective alternative—or complement—to long-term care insurance. Medically qualified subscribers prepay monthly for care they may receive in the future, locking in significant savings on the lifetime expense of health care delivered at Orchard Cove.
Given that the cost of a year’s worth of LifeCare payments can be equal to just one month of skilled nursing care, the plan offers residents and their families peace of mind in knowing that the expense of care will be manageable and predictable.
