FROM THE DUGOUT
DANIEL MOORE
GOOD EVENING AND WELCOME TO
THE FIRST OF OUR LAST FIVE LEAGUE FIXTURES.
After Saturday's game, you can see why Worksop are the league champions. We played well in the first half. In terms of the football, I was pleased, but individual errors cost us. It was an even game after 20 minutes and we were doing well, but mistakes allowed them to score and that gave them a lift. I'll take positives from our midfield though because we played some good stuff - we just need to be more clinical in the final third.
In the second half,
I think some players hid.
I've told the lads, that game can't define the next month. We've worked really hard to get where we are, and there's no way we can throw in the towel.
The lads have to work really hard and give everything for the club.
We've got five cup finals left and the players have to take responsibility - these games can be as good as we want th hurtful them. Onto to game, P are hit
One week they'll turn up and comfortably win, then they'll drop points similar to ourselves.
It'll be a tough game, they'll want to come and upset us like every other team does - if you're up there, you're there to be shot at.
Lads have to deal with that and unfortunately some of them have struggled mentally with being at the top end of the table. This is where our

NOTICEBOARD
As part of the club's development pathway, we will be introducing a senior ladies first team this year.
The team will form part of the club's senior section and provide a much needed player pathway outlet for upcoming female players within the club's junior section, whilst also striving to progress through the leagues in the female pyramid of the game. The club will have somewhat of a head start in the set-up of the ladies team as it will be bringing an established team and coaching staff under its umbrella in the shape of the current Hebburn Involve Ladies first team. The club would like to place on record its thanks to Hebburn Involve FC for the support in making this transition work.
Hebburn Town Ladies will play home games at the
home of Hebburn Town FC, The Green Energy Sports Ground and Hebburn Clegwell 3G, during the 2023/24 season with entry free of charge.
Along with the existing squad of players, the club will continue development across its juniors section as well as its successful Ladies Just Play sessions to promote female players into its new ladies team. The club hope to attract talented female players from across the region that want to represent an upcoming grassroots community club with fantastic facilities.
Our Ladies Just Play sessions and small-sided games groups that participate on Tuesday evenings will continue to take place and further support the player pathway journey.

League champions Worksop Town expressed their quality on home turf with a 4-1 win on Saturday.
Worksop’s opener came on 23 minutes after a neat passage of play, resulting in Luke Hall squaring to Liam Hughes for a low finish past Shaun Newbrook. That lead was doubled with 34 on the clock when a push on Robbie Spence was waved away, allowing Hall to again set up Hughes at close-range.
Worksop’s attacking combo of Hughes and Hall again proved a danger on 68 minutes, this time the latter got his name onto the scoresheet with a finish from inside the six-yard box. Moments later, Joe Walton committed a foul inside the
area and Hughes stepped up, sending Newbrook the wrong way for his hat-trick. Amar Purewal was denied low by Dylan Parkin as Hebburn tried to claw one back, though The Hornets got their consolation when the number nine rounded the keeper on 82 minutes. That result made it 32 games unbeaten for the alreadycrowned champions, Worksop. Hebburn meanwhile dropped down to fourth behind Stockton Town and Long Eaton United, though a win against Pontefract Collieries would rebound them to second.

Pontefract Collieries currently sit tenth in the league table. Although various teams from Pontefract date back to the 19th century, the current club were founded by a group of miners on the site of an old colliery in 1958 and they continue to play at Beechnut Lane to this day. The Colls won the Yorkshire League in the early 1980s and went on to win back-toback Floodlit Cups later that decade, before adding a Wilkinson Sword Trophy in 1996. It is in recent years however that the club have had its most success. After gaining promotion to the NCEL Premier Division in 2015, ending a 15-year ted
flight once more at the first attempt. They made it consecutive promotions by winning the NCEL title in 2018 to reach step four for the first time. They almost achieved three in a row when they finished runners up to Morpeth Town, however narrowly lost out 3-0 to Brighouse Town the play-off final in 2018/19. The Colls finished a point above Hebburn in the Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division last season, and currently sit outside the play-offs after a four-game winless run. They've played Hebburn six times since 2019 and are yet to taste defeat, winning four and drawing two.

Clarke doubled their advantage on 25. Dunn then gave the visitors the perfect start in the second period when he made it three just a couple of minutes after the restart, and it remained that way until the last 15 minutes.
Connor Cutts gave Sheffield hope on
75, before Basile Zottos set up a grandstand finish when he netted after 88. The comeback was complete when substitute Marc Newsham fired home after Lloyd Allinson spilled a shot in the 90th minute.
LAST MEETING
Hebburn stuck their bodies on the line to secure a point at Pontefract towards the start of the season. 1-1
Hebburn went in front on 19 minutes in our first chance of the game, as Olly Martin’s cleared corner was powerfully volleyed into the roof of the net by Robbie Spence from 20-yards. Pontefract should've equalised on 38 as Gavin
Allott's powerful header inside the six-yard box was somehow clawed out by Shaun Newbrook, and Daniel Moore fought away the rebound.
Newbrook gave a penalty away seconds later after clattering into a Pontefract attacker, but he again kept Allott out with a brilliant low stop to his left.
Pontefract pressed throughout and The Hornets struggled to advance past the halfway line in the second half.
Their pressure paid off on 78 minutes as Allott jinked into

the Hebburn box before finding the bottom right corner to make it 1-1. Straight from the restart, Hornets debutant Will McCamley crossed into Amar Purewal from the left and the forward's header bounced off the foot of the post. Both sides looked for a winner in the last 10, as McCamley went through one-on-one but it was closely called back for offside and Sean Reid hit a 20-yard free-kick straight down the middle.
In the dying seconds, Hebburn boss Moore was shown a second yellow after a hard foul, but his side managed to hold onto a point at The Hunters Stadium.

U18S WIN TITLE
Hebburn Town U18s lifted the Durham FA Premier League title on Saturday.
The young Hornets, who have lost one league game all season, travelled to Spennymoor Town at the weekend for a title decider.
Dan Savage's brace, alongside a Ryan Hardie goal, confirmed the league title for Stephen Hymers' side.
Hardie also grabbed the golden boot award after scoring 12 league goals from eight appearances. Congratulations to our U18s on an excellent season!

U23S REPORT
Jack Donaghy and Will McCamley are set to appear for the U23s tomorrow night.
The pair are currently recovering from long-term injuries picked up in training and will play for Gary Henry's side in a bid to gain match sharpness. McCamley has been out since September with a lower leg injury, while Donaghy was sidelined two months ago with a broken arm. The U23s will welcome Gosforth Bohemians on Wednesday at 6pm at The Green Energy Sports Ground with free entry. Henry's side weren't in action at the weekend, but played out a goalless draw away to West Moor & Jesmond last time out. Young centre-back Kian Devlin-Johnson reflected on the game with mixed emotions.
"I don't think we got out of first gear," he explained. "We had a few opportunities in the first half however we weren’t able to finish them and take the lead.
"I think we looked tired towards the end but we stuck together as a team and didn't let the
opposition create many chances, so we were pleased in that sense."
The week before that, the U23s managed to claim an impressive 1-0 victory away to tomorrow's opponents Gosforth.
Robbie Gateshill scored the winner from the penalty spot on 82 minutes, while debutant keeper Jimmy Lone stayed strong to earn a clean sheet.
