GOOD EVENING TO EVERYONE READING TONIGHT'S MATCHDAY PROGRAMME.
We were really pleased with Saturday's 5-1 victory at home to Consett. I thought we looked in the first 20 minutes, passing through the midfield and working it side-toside.
We caused them quite a few problems but then a bit of complacency came in and the lads thought it was too easy, which it shouldn't be.
We gave the ball away cheaply and Consett came into it - that's where their goal came from, us not putting pressure
on the ball. We were frustrated to be 1-0 down but with the character we have in that dressing room, we told the lads just to keep going. It was a good time to score, just before half-time, and we went into the second half on the front foot.
We ran away with the second half to be honest and I'm pleased we got the goals we deserved. The most pleasing thing was the lads didn't stop - when we went two or three g lads ke

Everybody put a shift in and they're fighting to keep their places because we've got some great quality on the bench as well.
We played Carlton last week and it was a pretty comfortable victory. We can't get complacentthere's talk of them coming up here with a young side but whatever's in

GROUND FOR TONIGHT'S GAME.
It was a really good performance against Consett at the weekend. It was a bit tight in the first half with them scoring first but the lads rallied together well and stuck at it. We controlled the majority of the game and it shows the togetherness of the squad to score five. We just had to keep doing our thing with a bit more quality in the final pass, and we saw the game out in the second
half.
I was delighted to score my first Hebburn goal. I want to grab a few more so hopefully that'll kickstart it and I can score another couple. We're taking each game as it comes and ticking wins off - hopefully we'll be where we want to be come the end of the season. There are ten games left and we go into every game looking to win.
We played Carlton last week so we
know what they're about.
It'll be a tough game but we're at home so I'm sure it'll be a winnable one.
We're pleased to be second in the league now and we want to keep that momentum rolling.
HELLO EVERYONE, WELCOME BACK

Hebburn Town will face Spennymoor Town on Wednesday, May 3 at at the Stadium of Light (7:30pm kick-off).

“The Durham County FA has a strong partnership with our senior club, Sunderland AFC, with both organisations helping each other provide development and opportunities to many.
“We are excited by the opportunities that lie ahead for football in our county as we work together more and
more closely.
“We are absolutely delighted that Sunderland AFC have agreed to host the Final once again. This further endorses the club’s commitment to grassroots football and the wider community.
“To play at such an iconic venue is the dream of all players outside of the professional game and is a massive boost for the County FA and the competition.”

The visitors broke the deadlock on 34 minutes as former Hartlepool striker Scott Fenwick unleashed a sublime strike into the top corner from distance. However Consett's lead only lasted until the 41st minute, when Olly Martin was flicked through by Amar Purewal and fired an effort past former Hebburn goalkeeper Mark Foden.
And Martin's second goal arrived on 54 minutes, as he latched on a defensive mistake and thundered a strike low into the back of the net.

afternoon the 74 mark, as the Whitby Town loanee found himself through oneon-one following heavy touch and arrowed his shot into the top right corner. Dan Groves then won a corner and Amar Purewal was denied off the line, but Liam Henderson was there to bundle it over for his first goal in 15 games. Eventually, Hebburn made it 5-1 through substitute James Harrison who carried on possession when Purewal was tripped on the halfway line and slotted into the net after his initial shot clashed off the post. With Bridlington beating Stockton, Hebburn jumped to second in the table with 10 league games to go.

AN INTRODUCTION

BY DAVID COULTHARD
Today's visitors, Carlton Town, were established in 1904 as Sneinton FC. They played in the Nottinghamshire Football Alliance, winning three league titles within six years of their formation. That was the extent of their silverware until winning the third tier in 1985 and the second tier in 1993, by which time they’d moved to their current home, now known as the Bill Stokeld Stadium. They went on to gain promotion to the Central Midlands Football League in 1995.
In 1998, Sneinton were promoted from the CML Premier Division to the Supreme Division, and in 2001 were denied promotion to the Northern Counties East League due to ground grading requirements.
The following year they changed their name to
their current guise and won the CML title.
The Millers achieved further elevation in 2006 when they reached the Premier Division, and they made it back-to-back promotions as they made it to step four for the first time in their history. Carlton won the Notts Senior Cup in 2013, 2014, 2017, and a win against Mansfield Town U23s in 2022 brought their most recent triumph. They’ve remained at step four for the last 16 years, with a couple of league reorganisations along the way, including their move to the Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division this season.

Carlton Town suffered a 2-1 defeat on home soil, as the ten men of North Shields returned to the North East with all three points from the Bill Stokeld Stadium.
Carlton took the lead through Dean Freeman’s back post header in the
42nd minute and North Shields were soon left a man light when JJ Chrisp received a straight red card. However, the home side sat deep in the second half and were punished when Dan Wilson headed home, and Callum Larmouth then finished off a
good break with a deflected effort to complete the turnaround with a couple of minutes to play.
Kyle Tomlin almost rescued a point for Carlton in injury time, but his effort hit the crossbar.

Liam Henderson scored his first goal in 15 games at the weekend against local rivals Consett.
The Hornets claimed a 5-1 victory at home despite going behind early through a Scott Fenwick screamer.
Olly Martin notched a brace before goals from Jake Hackett, Liam Henderson and James Harrison.
“It’s a confident squad at the minute,” Henderson stated.
“Results are going for us so the lads are delighted - long may it continue.
“If I’m honest, Consett’s goal was against the run of play.
“It was a fantastic response though - there's been occasions this season where we crumble in our sticky patch and the second goal comes straight after.
“Thankfully we stepped up a gear and scored five goals at home so we’re buzzing.”
Henderson's goal was Hebburn's fourth of the afternoon, as Amar Purewal's header was blocked off the line but the number 10 managed to tip it over.
That was Henderson's seventh goal of the season and his first since scoring a brace away to Consett on October 22.
“It’s a huge relief,” he admitted.
“I’ve had a horrible run - I said before Christmas that I haven’t been at my best and I’ve still got a long way to go.
“It’s been stop-start with that injury against Dunston but there’s no excuses.
"I've been snatching at efforts but I've turned a corner over the last three or four games - I've been performing well but the goals haven't been there.
“Strikers are judged on goals so hopefully I can kick on and contribute more to
the team.
"With the quality we have from set-pieces, especially Jake [Hackett] and Olly [Martin], we should be making more from them.
"Teams aren't just going to let us win corners but thankfully we scored from

U23S REPORT
NOTICEBOARD
Our U23s fell to a tough defeat on the road at the weekend in the Northern Alliance.
Gary Henry's side travelled to an in-form Willington Quay Saints on Saturday, off the back of a penalty shootout defeat to Newcastle Independent Cabrito in the Bill Gardner Cup Round of 16.
Willington, who sat one place above Hebburn going into the game, had won 11 of their last 12 matches. The Hornets went behind on 17 minutes through Joe Connor, before Sean Conway made it two just moments later.
Willington added a third through Connor with 33 on the clock, and Mackenzie Sharp made it 4-0 on 36 minutes.
The result leaves Hebburn seventh in the table, though Henry's men have several games in hand on
those above.
Next up, the U23s travel to league leaders Gosforth Bohemians on Saturday afternoon (2:30pm kick-off).
Their next home game is on Saturday, March 18 against North Shields Athletic at The Green Energy Sports Ground.
Entry is free and the firstteam are away to Long Eaton United, so be sure to get along if you can't support Daniel Moore's side on the road.
U23s striker Harry Loughlin, who also plays for the U18s, made his debut off the bench for the first-team last week away to Carlton Town. The forward made his second appearance last weekend against Consett and almost got on the scoresheet with an acrobatic effort.
