Last Friday against Stockton, we were outstanding with the ball and moved it really well.
Against Shildon, we dug in and put bodies on the line. It wasn't a brilliant performance, but we got a 1 0 win and clean sheet which we've been dying for.
We've defended quite well over the last few weeks and deserved that clean sheet. We couldn't have played Shildon at a worse time with their managers going, so if
anything it's an even better win.
It was 6:15pm and I only had five names on the teamsheet due to injuries.
It just proves what group we've got when the lads want to put the shirt on and play for each other.
On nights like Tuesday, that's what gets you a result.
Liam Murray has been great - we pulled him out against Stockton for tactical reasons and it worked. He was outstan Tuesda picks th there's midfiel
days who can create what
he can. It'll be a tough game today against Granthamthey'll take points off teams due to the players they've got.
I know their start has been indifferent and I believe that's down to their pitch - if you look at their squad, they'll be up there once they get going.
We're looking forward to it it's at our place and we're not going to

AFTERNOON'S HOME FIXTURE
AGAINST GRANTHAM TOWN.
It was a good result on Tuesday night against my former side Shildon. We always knew they'd come at us and it would possibly be a scrappy game since they lost their manager.
We knew we needed to defend well to get that result.
It was a 1-0 win and clean sheet so we'll take that all day.
It was just another game ticked off the list for myselfanother three points and we move onto today. It was a different way of winning a football game
we had quite a few players missing
due to injuries and absence, so it shows the depth in our squad to grind out a victory like that.
The mood in the dressing room is really good - we've said since the start of the season that we'd like to go unbeaten here.
We want to make home a fortresswe don't want teams to come here and take points from us easily. It'll be another tough g against Town th afterno we're b at hom
so hopefully we can get another three points and continue our good run of form.

Our U23 side currently sit sixth in the Northern Alliance Reeves
Independent First Division.
Gary Henry's side weren't in action last weekend, meaning they have a game in hand on most of the other 15 teams in the division.
Our second-string were knocked out the Team Valley Carpets Combination Cup to West Moor & Jesmond on penalties - the competition they won last season.
Henry's outfit have only lost one out of their seven opening league fixtures, winning four.
The biggest victory was a 6-0 jubilation at Hexham towards the end of August, where U18 midfielder Ryan Hardie netted a hat trick.
Jack Robertson currently sits on five goals, while fellow strikers Robbie Gateshill and John Murray
are also rising up the charts. The side didn't play a league game in September, and now have five fixtures penned in for October. They're away to Bedlington this afternoon and face bottom-placed North Shields Athletic next weekend.
The next home game is on Saturday, October 15 as West Moor & Jesmond visit The Green Energy Sports Ground.
Daniel Moore defeated his former side on Tuesday night through Liam Murray's goal in the second half.
Shildon had a big shout for a penalty on the half hour when Arron Thompson challenged Wilson Kneeshaw, but referee Glen Hart waved away the appeals.
Three minutes later, Murray unleashed a right footed effort from the edge of the area but Matty Bateman made a good save down to his right.
Shildon started the second period brighter and had a couple of chances in quick succession with the latter being David Atkinson trying his luck for the visitors. Murray then blasted an effort goalwards and after
Bateman spilled, Amar Purewal couldn't quite force the ball home on 58.
Four minutes later, Reid's long ball found Groves who came inside and dinked a left footed cross to the back stick but Purewal headed straight at Bateman.
The decisive moment arrived after 66 when Reid challenged for a long ball forward but it was Murray who controlled and fired his firm effort into the corner to give The Hornets the lead. With 16 left on the clock
Murray dragged another low effort towards Bateman at his near post.
The final big chance of the game came on 84 when Dean Thexton's effort was on target but straight at exShildon stopper Newbrook.

AN INTRODUCTION
PLAYER SPONSORS
BY DAVID COULTHARDWe give the lowdown on this afternoon's visitors, Grantham Town.
Grantham FC were founded in 1874 and played their early years in the Midland Amateur League, winning the title in 1911.
After moving to the Central Alliance League and becoming champions in 1925, the club then had a spell in the Midland Counties League prior to the second world war.
Grantham went on to win the Midland League in 1964, 1971 and 1972 before moving into the Southern League, where they won Division One North in 1978. The club were elected to the Northern Premier League following a pyramid restructure in the early 1980s, but they soon failed to gain re-election and dropped back into the Southern League.
Martin O’Neill was given his first managerial position at Grantham in 1987 - they
season and finished in fifth a year later.
His appointment coincided with the club's rebranding as Grantham Town.
During this new era, they won the Southern League Midland Division in 1998.
After enduring a tough few years financially and a relegation in 2000, they achieved promotion back to the Premier Division in 2002. In 2006, Grantham were moved back to the Northern Premier League, where they were soon relegated to Division One South, but bounced back by winning that division in 2012.
Matt Chatfield was appointed as manager in March 2022, however the club was relegated from the Premier Division after finishing bottom last season. missed promotion by a single point in his first

Grantham suffered their first league defeat of the season, losing 2-0 away to North Shields, with goals from JJ Chrisp and Brad Hird proving the difference at the Daren Persson Stadium. Shields took the lead in the 20th minute when Dan
Turner found Chrisp making an overlapping run, before the latter found the bottom corner. The points were made safe with two minutes to play when David Robinson capitalised on a poor back pass, before squaring for
Hird to fire home for The Robins. The result leaves Grantham 15th in the Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division, although they have only played four matches and have multiple games in hand on all other sides in the league.
UNBEATEN SEPTEMBER
NOTICEBOARD
The Hornets have made an electric start to the 2022/23 campaign with an unbeaten September.
Daniel Moore's side enjoyed a strong August period, picking up four wins, however our September form has strengthened our grip on second place.
Hebburn perhaps dropped points at the start of the month as Jack Donaghy's volley was cancelled out by Tadcaster Albion, with The Brewers rescuing a 1-1 draw in North Yorkshire.
We then entered The Isuzu FA Trophy on a Tuesday night in Trafford, and went behind after a poor first half.
Robbie Spence netted an equaliser, before centreback Tom Devitt bagged the winner in the dying stages.
The Hornets then encountered a number of home games - the first of
which against Tadcaster. Moore's side stuck five past Ben Bottomley, though Albion did put up a fight by scoring three.
The following week Stockton Town visited South Tyneside in The Isuzu FA Trophy and a brace from Olly Martin, alongside Amar Purewal's chip, gave us a 3-1 win.
Our final September fixture came in midweek, where Shildon were the visitors. Chances were at a premium
