VIN PEARSON THE CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE

GOOD AFTERNOON AND WELCOME TO OUR FIRST HOME GAME OF THE 2022/23 CAMPAIGN. the team looks excellent. I'd like to welcome the seven new lads to the club as wellthey're all experienced, exciting players. The start to the league season has been brilliant and hopefully we can carry on the momentum. Of course, I'd like to say a massive thank you to our sponsors who help the club a huge amount. A lot of previous sponsors have committed to remain and we pleased welcom new sp Finally, to you - the supporters. Our average home attendance last season was 417 one of the best in the division. We've again sold an incredible amount of season tickets, and we've also given over 600 to members of our Junior Club. Our away support over the last few weeks has been excellent and I can't wait to see the backing we'll receive at The I'd like to extend my welcome to the players, staff and supporters from Sheffield. Last season was big for the club our first in the Pitching In Northern Premier League. We've learnt a lot on and off the pitch, and we can't wait to see how this season pans out. We're over the moon to welcome Daniel Moore to the club, alongside Mark Hudson and Carl Morris. I believe they'll kick our club on further and it's an exciting time for us. We had a great pre season, 7

top player - he didn't do much all night, but if you give him them chances then he'll bury them. Overall it's disappointing, but on the flip side it's the best performance we've had so far. That game won't define our seasonit's now a test of where we stand mentally and how quickly we can bounce back. We finished with a very young side but that's something we pride ourselves on, and push fo We're e good te afterno Sheffie We know their manager Ryan Cresswell towards the end of last season, they were causing teams problems. We need to put the Stockton defeat to bed, we can't have it roll over into today. We need to put a performance on and win. That's the most important thinggetting back in that winning mentality and getting three It was a bitty game against Stockton - I was disappointed with losing. We can't give players of Stockton's quality the amount of space they had for the goals. We spoke about it before the game but for the first 15 minutes, we sat off the danger players. The start wasn't great - it was a good finish but we could've affected the ball quicker. For the second goal, we let the lad run 40-yards with ball and we've just opened up to give him a shot at Shaun Newbrook.

back a few times before, I'm happy to play there at the minute. It's just a case of shuffling across the back four, obviously we're a few players short due to injury. I'm happy to play wherever I'm needed and help the team. I've played with pretty much all the new players anyway so it's been quite easy for us to gel together. They're all good players who have given us another dimens hopefu kick us be up t the end season. I think Sheffield have put a bit of money in this year and improved their squad. We've had five tough away games so it'll be good to play at home in front of a good crowd. We are travelling a lot of miles but every team has the same schedule, and we'll get a few home games eventually. It'll be a tough weekend with a lot of points on the line since we have North Shields It was disappointing on Wednesday night to lose to Stockton. We played well, we created more chances than we have in any of the other games. We can't let teams like Stockton shoot from where they did - they're a good side, but we gifted them two goals at home. They had too much space, and it was always going to be difficult getting back into it. They only had a few opportunities and scored two goals - we had six or seven and scored once. I've played left

Hebburn Town are delighted to announce the signing of young winger, James Harrison.

Harrison scored 17 times last season in just over 20 appearances for the U18 side, as they finished second in the table and also tasted cup success. The versatile winger made his senior debut on Wednesday for The Hornets, replacing Liam Henderson for the last 13 minutes.

"I'm really looking forward to it," stated Harrison upon signing. "I've spoke to the manager [Daniel Moore] and I know how ambitious this club is. "The team's doing well at the moment, and I want to come in and help us push on this season.

"I've been looking for a club over the last few weeks and I sent some clips over to the gaffer - we had a good chat recently and it's went from there. "I'm a fast winger who likes to go in behind, get on the ball and create opportunities.

"I can cross with both feet and play on either winghopefully I can get a few goals and assists by the end of the season."

The hosts started well on Wednesday night as Cameron Painter found Stephen Thompson, and the veteran winger broke the deadlock on seven minutes with a spectacular volley into the top corner. The Hornets levelled on 27 minutes as Olly Martin's corner was smashed off the post by Tom Devitt, but Liam Henderson was on hand to bundle the ball over the line for his first Hebburn goal.

Shaun Newbrook somehow kept the score level on the half-hour, tipping Nathan Mulligan's 20-yard free-kick onto the bar before Matty Tymon blazed the rebound too high.

An action-packed first half helped a clinical Stockton side take three points from league rivals Hebburn. 2-1

Stockton's second came through Kevin Hayes, who evaded two challenges before unleashing a 25-yard strike into the back of the net on 45 minutes. As half-time loomed, Liam Murray swung a free-kick in for Amar Purewal to nod home at point-blank range, but the linesman had his flag up for offside. Before the hour, a cross came into the Stockton area from Dan Groves' throw which Purewal controlled and poked around the goalkeeper. but it softly drifted wide of the mark. With eight minutes to go, Purewal was played through one-on-one but he clipped the ball wide on the half-volley.

Sean Reid, Liam Murray and Olly Martin found the net to turn the game around and give The Hornets a 3-1 victory. Three days later, we played Pontefract Collieries away and Robbie Spence fired a screamer into the top corner from distance. The Colls missed a penalty, but scored the equaliser late in the day before Hebburn player manager Moore was sent off. Purewal bagged his second goal of 2022/23 on August 20, rising to head Dan Groves' cross into the back of the net at Grimsby Borough. Chances were at a premium, but Hebburn done enough

Daniel Moore's reign began with a visit to Sunderland RCA in the Emirates FA Cup extra preliminary round on August 6. The Northern League side went 2-0 up against Hebburn, before Amar Purewal restored hope from a corner. The momentum didn't last long however, as RCA regained the two goal advantage in the dying minutes to progress. Our league season began at Brighouse Town, and the hosts took the lead after half-time.

BY DAVID COULTHARD We take a look at our first home opponents of 2022/23, Sheffield. Sheffield FC were founded way back in 1857, making them the world’s oldest football club. Prior to 1863, when the FA were established, football around the country was contested under varied rules, including the ‘Sheffield rules’ that the club had drawn up. In 1860, Sheffield played against local rivals Hallam FC for the first time, and in doing so marked the start of what is the world’s oldest derby. They also played in the world’s first football tournament, The Youdan Cup in 1867. In 1872, Sheffield’s Charles Clegg, who would later become Chairman of the FA, played in the first Scotland. Sheffield exited the Emirates FA Cup last Saturday as Harry Freedman’s early goal proved enough for visitors Glossop North End to progress. The goal came when Glossop keeper Morgan Bacon’s long ball was flicked on and Freedman latched onto it, nipping in ahead of his marker before rounding keeper Jordan Pierrepont and sliding the ball into an open net. Sheffield struck the woodwork in the dying moments of the first half from a corner, but went into the break behind. They also had several chances in the second period but couldn’t find a way through. For the final 15, with no goalkeeper on the bench, Steven McDonnell volunteered to don the gloves for the injured Pierrepont.

Hebburn hit the woodwork another two times, and also had two goals chalked off due to offside. The fourth eventually came with 86 on the clock, as Michael Richardson threaded Bell through to finish one-on-one. The reverse fixture came in January, in Hebburn's first game of 2022. Goals were much harder to come by, with The Hornets only taking a 1 0 victory. In his last game for the club, Bell found the net on 10 minutes after coolly nodding Martin's cross past the goalkeeper at close range. Danny Carson made a vital tackle against Sam Ackroyd at the other end on the brink

On 16 minutes, Kevin Bolam's outfit broke the deadlock as Amar Purewal headed home from Dan Groves' cross. Seven minutes later, the visitors were awarded a penalty for handball and Martin dispatched confidently. Then on the half-hour, Connor Bell made it three as he stretched onto Groves' driven cross.
