In RJ Learn’s“Tring New Food”book, the aim is to establish effective communication with your child about food. This book uses the days of the week to encourage children to try something new every day. It also provides a framework for politely declining by saying “Nothank you,”while showing how fun it can be to explore new foods.Key Features:Emphasizes key phrases in context that can be learned and applied later.Offers a framework for communicating wants and needs.Includes a script to help children decline politely.Uses repetition of patterned conversations with different items to aid comprehension.Provides a reading plan with goals, activities, and tips for parents. This book is a labor of love, written for my son RJ, who has a speech delay. RJ is hyperlexic—hecould read and recite the alphabet by the age of 2. However, it took another year and a half before he could communicate using functional language, as we didn’tinitially realize he was a gestalt language processor. Once we, along with his speech therapists, recognized this, his progress accelerated. These books are designed specifically for him, integrating key phrases we want him to learn in various contexts. Through these stories, we strive to support his language development and assist other children with similar needs, incorporating everything we’velearned and found effective for him.
