3G PITCH DEVELOPMENT AT SELBY COLLEGE COMING SOON TO YOUR LOCAL COLLEGE

We’re delighted to announce that we will be launching a brand-new 3G sports pitch to Selby College in Spring 2026, enabling our students and local clubs and communities to train on state-of-the-art facilities.

This comes following a £1.2 million grant from the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation, which aims to bring a fresh investment into local grassroots sports facilities.

Work has begun on the pitch taking place during the week and will continue into the early new year, with pitch expected to be completed by Spring 2026 (weather dependent), at which point both students and the

wider community will be able to enjoy the new facility.

Local clubs and community groups will have the chance to hire the pitch during evenings and weekends.

WHAT OUR STUDENTS SAY

“I chose to study the Level 2 Electrical Installation programme at Selby College because I wanted a career in the field and have always preferred hands-on learning. The course has opened my eyes as to how electrics in houses work and taught me how to use a range of multi-tools. I hope to progress onto an apprenticeship once I’ve completed my qualification.”

James

Level 2 Electrical Installation

“I chose to study my Level 4 at the University Centre because I knew I’d get more one-to-one support than at a traditional university. My confidence has grown massively, and I’m developing the skills I need to pursue my ultimate dream of becoming a police officer.”

Level 4 Public Services Management

“I attended an Open Event where I realised Selby College would be the best fit for me compared to other colleges I visited. I’ve enjoyed doing the practical assignments and the independence. Taking part in practical laboratory assignments at universities and careers week activities introduced potential career paths to me and my specific interests.”

Chloe

Studied A Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and EPQ

“Studying GCSE Maths at Selby College gave me the knowledge and confidence I needed. Without it, I wouldn’t have understood algebra or geometry— and I wouldn’t be on track to apply for university and become a nurse.”

GCSE Maths

Next stop, the University of Oxford!

After achieving outstanding A Level results, former Selby High School students Ben Nelson and Henry Toy are taking the next step of their academic journey at the University of Oxford.

99% Pass rate across its A Level programmes

Selby College: “I chose to study these A Level subjects because I knew they would help me to get into my dream university. My tutors have been incredibly supportive of my university applications and even held one-to-one sessions where we went over my personal statement and practised mock interviews.”

Henry, an aspiring lawyer and A* student in Business, Biology and Mathematics, added: “The A Level tutors at Selby College really care about your progression and are always encouraging you to do well. This includes taking part in extra-curricular activities such as the Intermediate Biology Olympiad competition, which helped to expand my knowledge and understanding of Biology.”

These achievements reflect Selby College’s commitment to academic excellence and personalised support, helping students reach their full potential and pursue ambitions at the highest level.

In 2025, the College achieved a 99% pass rate across its A Level programmes, with 32% of students securing high grades (A/A/B).

Selby College designs its A Level programmes to be both stimulating and career-focused, equipping students with the skills and knowledge sought by top universities and employers. In addition to the University of Oxford, many students have progressed to leading institutions such as the University of Sheffield, University of Nottingham and others — or movedsuccessfully into employment.
