Our guest of the month

· · · · ·

Name: Trang, Nguyen T. Huyen (*CHT) Job:Lecturer Major:IT (SE) Place of work: SE dept. IT faculty DaLat University Location: Da Lat - Lam Dong Vietnam.

·

Interviewer: On the occasion of the Teacher’s Day, how is it celebrated in your university?

·

CHT: Well, officially we have a day off for that event. In fact, we just can enjoy one morning off only as the faculty holds the 3-hourcelebration, which will go with a speech, flowers, songs and blessings in the afternoon with all the staffs and our beloved students.

·

Interviewer: Are there any differences between this year celebration and last year celebration in your university?

·

CHT: almost the same but the participants themselves and the role of them. (1st yearè 2nd year è 3rd year…. Studentè lecturer :D)

·

Interviewer: You used to be a student, so can you tell us a specifically favorite Teacher’s Day during your school time? And why do you like it?

·

CHT: The Teacher’s day of the senior year is the most favorite teacher’s day to me. At that time, more than 2/3 of the class were away in other cities for the internship, feeling sad when just some left attending the event. Once taking a closer look to all the lecturers, memories recalled thinking that would be the last Teachers’ day for the whole life. Also, that’s the first time I raised my horrible voice by a song with my beloved lecturer ^^ (just by chance no rehearsal but thank God no one was killed by that)… Really nice memory to me.

·

Interviewer: Why do you choose teaching as your career? And do you ever think about changing your job in the near future?

·

CHT: Actually, the career did choose me J. I became a lecturer by chance when my lecturer met me and my partner to have a frank talk right

A corner of DaLat University.

Interviewing Section Our guest of the month

·

Interviewer: Do you believe that students nowadays still respect their teachers? And what do you expect your students to do for you personally and for teachers in general on this occasion?

·

CHT: my answer is “yes”. Fortunately, in my university especially in my faculty, the students are really nice and I’m proud of it. But once you expect something from your students you should know what they are expecting from you. I’m trying my best fullfilling their expectation by giving much; not giving high mark but giving what they need in their life after the university or simply giving them the wings to their dreams ^^ as my lecturers did. I’m just a simple lecturer expecting my students would fly even higher than me. And I had the early gift from the class CTK32CD since A corner of DaLat University.

what they did is over my expectation. Thanks you all for listening to my words even they are really strict words and thanks for understanding me J by your changes. ·

Interviewer: Cheating is a hard-to-solve problem in education. How is cheating prevented in your university? And how effective is it?

·

CHT: Cheating is always the problem in any education system. The tranditional method to prevent cheating in my university is to organize the exams strictly. It does take some affect to the students when they have to study harder and harder to pass the exam or they have to face the strict exam when no door is opened easily. But to me, I think the best way to prevent the cheating is the teacher themselves, once the teacher cannot evaluate the student correctly via exams, projects, thesis… the cheating will still remains.

·

Interviewer: There have been lots of articles criticizing some teachers beating students; however, there is a saying goes, “spare the rod, and spoil the child”. What do you think about such controversial ideas?

The Gallery

after our thesis. And he did give wings to my dream at that time, I kept on moving with that dream regarding him and all the lecturers those are really cool. And no regret since I devote my heart and soul in what I chose. And shifting? Well the answer will soon be revealed in the near future ;)

Interviewing Section Our guest of the month

CHT: I myself never use violence to my students because I know that I’m not strong enough to kick/ beat them ;) besides that’s illegal. Personally, I think that in the university, the knowledge is kinda high level and word can help the teacher to express what they want not the strength itself. With a wound you can cure for a week or more but with strict word you need the whole life to cure it. Word is much more powerful and I think teacher should use that power in the approriate case, not much to harm the students’ personality but enough to encourage them in their learning. Be a friend of the students rather than the enemy or some actors that makes them hate studying.

·

Interviewer: Anything you want to wish to our dear teachers and students on this special day?

·

CHT: to my dear teachers “thank you all for feeling what I feel when being a teacher, wish you to have all what you are longing for”, to my dear students “be my colleague to know how I feel, but think carefully before graping my advice ;)”

Nguyen Ngoc Minh Chau * Based on a true story told to me every now and then by my father * In memory of Uncle Mai…

He was named after a flower He turned out so kind and tender His father died fighting for his country When he turned eighteen, he headed straight for the army There he befriended my father They became the best of brothers Their friendship kept them strong to fight for their country Until the day he stepped on a mine of the enemy Papa always sheds a tear as he says “Lord, I never forget the look on his face” In his last moments he took my papa’s hand “Mate, you tell my mama this is not the end” I wondered why papa loved that flower He said it always made the house warmer When I was old enough to learn about my country Papa told the story of a man who died for our peace

He was among thousands of others Who gave their lives for the land of their fathers Who lived and fought till the very end And in their last breaths still had their faith remained

Gately

Singer Stephen Gately, a member of the Irish band Boyzone, died suddenly on October 10, 2009 at the age of 33. (In obituary, the standard style is to write just the name first, then details after that. Since the phrase “member of the Irish band Boyzone” comes right after, “singer” would be redundant. Date should be written in that style, including the year.)

The star Boyzone member died while vacationing on the Spanish island of Majorca with his partner, Andrew.

Gately died in his hotel room on the Spanish island Majorca while on vacation with his partner Andrew Cowles. (news should be neat and specific. All names should be mentioned with first and last names)

He died of natural cause, an autopsy revealed. One day after his death, the four remaining members of the band (Mikey Graham, Shane Lynch, Keith Duffy and Ronan Keating) flew to Majorca to say the last words to their friend. The funeral took place on October 17th in his hometown, Dublin (Ireland). After Boyzone, Gately continued his career and gained certain success as a solo artist.

After Boyzone disbanded in 2000, Stephen Gately pursued a solo career and was noted for hit singles such as I believe (2000), and his achievements in West End musicals. (again, news should be as specific as possible)

How to build your own computer thriftily

If you aren’t a geek, you will probably be confused when it comes to buying yourself a new computer. You don’t know where to start, so choosing a manufactured computer may be a good way. However, manufactured computers are often more expensive than your own built computers and they are also hard to upgrade. Instead of buying a manufactured one, you should try to build your own with these following pieces and basic advice given below.

a Keyboard; a Case; a Power Supply; HDD (Hard disk drive); Mainboard, Monitor, etc... The others you consider then is CPU (Central Processing Unit), Graphics Card (GPU) and RAM if you use for either graphic design or playing games. Bear in mind that inquiring and searching for full information of the components is never unnecessary.

Before buying the new computer, you will consider your budget and your main usage of the computer. If it is just to type up documents and surf the web, you shouldn’t spend too much on a powerful machine that can’t be taken full advantage of its power.
